Globe and Mail, Tuesday, Sept. 20, Margaret Wente. http://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/opinions/opinion/help-im-on-the-irs-hit-list/article2171697/
Wente: “I’m on the IRS hit list, too. I came here at 13, and I’ve been a citizen since 1979. I don’t have a U.S. passport or any U.S. earnings. But the IRS wants to confiscate a large chunk of my retirement savings. Many of my friends are in the same fix. They send me e-mails saying things like, ‘Have you filled out the FBAR [Report of Foreign Bank and Financial Accounts] yet?’ The amnesty deadline has come and gone, and we still have no idea what to do.”
“The U.S. is the only country that requires its citizens to file a tax return and report their worldwide income, no matter where they live and what other citizenship they hold. Nobody can explain why the IRS has suddenly decided to enforce this law …”
“It’s confiscatory and extraterritorial. It’s taxation without representation. It’s also a clear violation of privacy laws. (By 2014, Canadian financial institutions will be required to disclose your name if you were born in the U.S.) So why comply? Because if you don’t, they can refuse to let you into the U.S.”
Taxation without representation? In the country that was founded as a revolt against taxation without representation?
Can Americans abroad vote? If so, the issue of taxation without representation is maybe not quite so straightforward. The same is true if the rules apply to dual citizens who have added other citizenships but not renounced their American one, which apparently you have to explicitly do. But still, the idea of taxing people based on nationality rather than where they made the money is not a good way to go about it.
In regards to the video;
Officer on scene, ” Sir,calm down please. Do you think the other driver was speeding?”
Crazy man, ” Well.I don’t really know,I had just finished a bowl myself though,and then boom,zap,electric arcs everywhere.”
Has the Royal Bank gone insane?
New thing in their online banking.
To transfer money from one account to another, you must agree that you understand and agree to the provisions of Rule H1 of the Canadian Payments Association.
When you google that and look it up, Rule H1 is a 30 PAGE indecipherable legal document with numerous cross-references and appendices.
As though I just happen to have my $300 an hour lawyer sitting here beside me to explain Rule H1 so that I can move $100 to my checking account.
It’s bad enough when you have to step over the crack whores lying on the sidewalks in front of the Royal Bank on Bay Street, but you don’t actually think these people are in charge of developing their computer systems and procedures at the Royal.

The government is now planning significant cuts to the Canadian Forces. Will the Conservative austerity plan apply only to soldiers, sailors and airmen and -women in the field, and not to the brass? What I’ve seen of the new “crime bill” is statist idiocy at its finest. The solution to drug crime is to decriminalize drugs. Cannabis, at the very least, should be decriminalized.
People who are going to use drugs will continue to do so despite laws and, at least in BC, cannabis is so prevalent that virtually any person selected at random will be able to tell you where one can buy weed, or knows someone who knows. That tells me that, at least in BC, decriminalized cannabis would lead to no increase in use. It would, however, result in a lot less income for various gangs as well as crooked politicians and police.
Cannabis has numerous medical uses and thus putting someone in jail for growing a cannabis plant would also mean that the nice little old ladies with their poppy gardens in my neighborhood would also end up in jail as they grow beautiful opium poppies.
The internet surveillance is pure statist oppression and it’s time to get my Tor program up and running on one of my computers again to allow people to engage in anonymous internet communication.
