  1. Earlier today, Reuters reported that Libyan rebel General Abdel Fattah Younis had been pulled from the front line of the conflict. Now it’s been confirmed that Younis has been shot dead, possibly by his own forces.

  2. Watched Therry la fronde years ago. Not a bad show actually.Even went to the OUTDOOR MOVIE SETS, on Isle D’Orleans.
    Faux Fortifications, Sailing ship etc.
    A ship scene they told us, where a wave crashed over the bow, was created with a frontend loader,off camera dumping a bucketfull of water on the set. At 14, I was impressed.

    MONTREAL – The CBC’s refusal to broadcast the names and faces of 30 suspected war criminals is puzzling, says the minister who oversees the state broadcaster.
    Speaking to reporters on Friday, Heritage Minister James Moore said every other news organization in Canada has released the identities of the suspects Canada wants to deport.
    “I leave it to the CBC to just explain why they’ve done the things they have done,” said Moore. “It is curious that the CBC is the only broadcaster that’s made the decision not to show the pictures although they have published the website where people can see the pictures of these folks.”
    A CBC spokesman has said the state broadcaster will not release the names and faces because of their journalistic standards. Evan Solomon from CBC’s Power and Politics show said there is not enough known about these individuals to release their identities.
    Asked if he had contacted the CBC about its policy, Moore replied, “I don’t interfere in the day-to-day activities of the CBC.”
    **IMO: So i ask this? Why is CBC protecting International Criminals Alledged or Not.

  16. I keep hearing on various news sources that higher interest rates are a form of tax. Can someone smarter than I am explain this? If it were a tax, the higher rates should benefit the government coffers, but I don’t see how that can happen. Captain, you out there?

  18. Watched “Thierry” many times,a shameless rip-off of Robin Hood,one of the first cultural panderings to Quebec.
    The “English” were portrayed as semi-retarded,even less amusing than “Boss Hogg”,and completely ineffective against the sling-armed Thierry.
    At the time,”Robin Hood”,starring Richard Greene, a British production ,played on afternoon TV every day,so I assume that show must have grated on the tender nerves of Francophones, thus the brainless “Thierry”.

    How the     hell would he know? Is he privy to government documents about these guys? Is Solomon — or anyone at the CBC — privy to security documents?
    What sheer, unmitigated gall to make a comment like this. Soloman’s and the CBC’s arrogance is breathtaking — and irresponsible, and should be an indicator to the CPC government, and James Moore, in particular, that the CBC’s wings need to be clipped.

    Canada does (need) the CBC but someone needs to hold them “Accountable” and James Moore is the the man in charge.

    Harper needs to explain the lack of Control of the CBC..Tax dollars come with absolute conditions…

  25. Blanks, I could live with the CBC’s having to support itself without advertising revenue. Then, the people who support it (I used to like their radio fare, especially when Tom Allen was doing classical music) could pay and I — and the millions of other Canadians who hardly ever turn their dial or channel surfer to the Mother Corpse — wouldn’t have to.

    I believe You’re thinking of “d’Iberville” which was a Radio-Canada production.
    I always thought it was pretty good! A great yarn with lots of adventure and – you actually learned a bit about Canadian history in the days of the “ancien régime”.
    But stirring tales of New France are no longer politically correct these days…
