Robert W. Bryan Lilley on the Byline had a guest on that mentioned the city council in Vancouver was wishing to further regulate street vendors in your fair city. She said that as licenses are issued, preference will be given to ones that use “organic” or “fair trade” (I could be wrong on that name, but I gathered it was the same tag that trendy people like on their coffee)
She concluded that the days of the $3 street dawg were gone. This is to bad as when ever get a chance to visit one of our countries bigger cities I love to take in a sporting event (especially if the visiting team is wearing green!) and eat ‘street meat’.
Perhaps you could pass along a message to your council that while Canadian farmers may not pass the trendy ‘organic’ or ‘fair trade’ (whatever it’s called) they should still feel welcome to sell our produce. (We’re from a somewhat democratic country, does that count as fair trade?)
On a different note, the RM had a track hoe out on our fields opening up drainage ditches to start clearing flood water from our roads. I check and no fish permit was acquired. I’m currently hiding from the fish cops with no lights on.
You see, if they didn’t know their gender, this couldn’t happen.

CBC has taken their ‘Vote Compass’ feature down tonight. There is still a link available that takes you to,
http://votecompass.ca/
You can still do the survey.I’m still a liberal, dammit. I was hoping to at least make it to the opposition seats.
The results of the survey have been published. But I searched and searched and could not find the result that I and many others want.Namely, how many people took the survey and to what party they were most in tune with.
Curious, isn’t it? This solidifies the case that this survey (tool, whatever),promoted by the CBC, and paid for with our tax dollars, was slanted to favour the Liberal party.
The CBC were informed of the possible bias with-in a couple of days of putting it on their website. They continued with it nonetheless.
I ( myself, not this site) contend that the CBC knowingly committed electoral fraud, and used our taxes to just do that. Does anyone have the resources to pursue this?
Ooops! Biodegradeable products release methane which is more potent than CO2 as a greenhouse gas
From WUWT….the greenies strike again.
And Derek….ALL f*&king food is organic. If not,it would kill you when you ate it! Oh wait(Spain). And as a by note, organic means it contains carbon,it’s just that in food, the carbon is in a form friendly to us humans and everything else that eats on this planet.
He ignored the ‘no’ so she took the matter into her own hands.

Egyptian general admits ‘virginity checks’ conducted on protesters
“The girls who were detained were not like your daughter or mine,” the general said. “These were girls who had camped out in tents with male protesters in Tahrir Square, and we found in the tents Molotov cocktails and (drugs).”
The general said the virginity checks were done so that the women wouldn’t later claim they had been raped by Egyptian authorities.
“We didn’t want them to say we had sexually assaulted or raped them, so we wanted to prove that they weren’t virgins in the first place,” the general said. “None of them were (virgins).”
So everything’s proceeding nicely in Egypt.

wallyj, you are correct about the CBC, but let’s take it one step further:
The Libs lost…ha!!
So let’s conclude that more Canadians don’t let CBC tell them what to think?
There, we don’t have to pursue it any further.
“Biodegradeable products release methane which is more potent than CO2 as a greenhouse gas”
And, full biodegradable garbage and grocery bags fall apart in one’s hands, negating their intended purposes. It’s all about testing just how gullible and lemming-like the masses are. Very!
“There, we don’t have to pursue it any further”
Yeah,I guess you’re right,……….BS.
They used our money to promote the Liberals. There will be other elections.

Life got real serious for me Tuesday night. I attended the talk of a female Israeli paramedic from Jerusalem. I videoed the entire speech and should have it up on YouTube within a week but suffice to say, I very much doubt that even 1% of North Americans have any clue what it’s like to live under the constant threat of danger that Israelis endure every day.
On a political note, all of the Jewish people there commended our Prime Minister, Stephen Harper, for his unwavering support for Israel. Quite a wonderful contrast from the legions of polls we hear about Jewish Canadians and Americans consistently voting for libtards.
Derek: Vancouver currently has a VERY left of centre city council in place. The party with the most seats, Vision Vancouver, was funded by the Tides Foundation. Here’s a little insight into that despicable group.
Anyhow, they are Kings & Queens of introducing every “progressive” initiative you could possibly dream of. But percentage-wise, few people vote municipality so they intuitively know they can get away with most anything. 🙁

Kate…what a riveting video clip. Especially when the fox entered into the scene. I don’t know where you find these things, but keep them coming.
A few years ago a Canada Goose decided to nest in the planter adjacent to my office. Miles away from any body of water, although in Vancouver, one could say the air is a body of water during the rainy seasons.
I persuaded a very nice Vancouver cop to give me about 100′ of that yellow crime scene tape, taped off the area (it was the parking lot) so that vehicles and people would not disturb the mother and soon-to-be babies.
After a while, the eggs hatched and I was the proud “father” of seven goslings.
Now the real work began.
With the help of my assistant, who, on reflection, I clearly don’t pay enough, we bundled the Mom and the goslings into a blanket, drove them to the Fraser River, and set them free.
The Mom was extemely pi$$ed at me, I have a small scar to prove it.
But I had the pleasure of seeing them all swim away. In the face of all of these idiots hawking phoney climate change theories, I did something positive.
Top that one, Suzuki….
Ohoh Bruce. You should not have posted that! Now the Greenpeace, and Vancouver city council eco-fascists will be on your butt because you disturbed the natural scheme of things. Don’t you know those goslings were supposed to fight and die in a parking lot!

“Coldest May on record for Darwin
Ellen Wescott-Dawson
May 31, 2011
Darwin and other parts of Northern Australia have just had their coldest May on record.
According to weatherzone.com.au, Darwin’s average temperatures were more than two degrees colder than average by night and more than a degree colder than average by day, with overnight minimum’s averaging 19.9 degrees, and daytime maximums just under 31 degrees.
It turned out to be the coldest May on record, equal with May 1960, averaging just 25.3 degrees, almost two degrees colder than the long-term norm.

“The cold has affected every district in the Northern Territory”, Weatherzone meteorologist Brett Dutschke told The Age.
“This is due to persistent south-easterly winds which have been very dry, a result of three major cold fronts across south-eastern Australia in the last three weeks,” Mr Dutschke said.
Katherine also had its coldest May in more than 20 years, with average overnight minimums at just 14 degrees, about two-and-a-half degrees colder than the long-term average.”

“On Petty Justice (Or: Just Clean Out Your Desk, Ralph)”
“That the Liberal Party’s deputy leader should have to move to another office (since his party’s standings have fallen to third and the New Democrats need the space) should not have surprising. What is surprising is that his party chose to complain about it:
What rankles Grits is that Mr. Goodale has so much seniority and deserves a little respect, having served in senior cabinet posts from finance to natural resources. . . . One Grit said the New Democrats are certainly not playing nice. Even the Tories, who won 166 seats and had first call on the offices, let the Liberals be and didn’t ask them to give up any office space.
The question may come up as to why Mr. Goodale should have to move, while Stéphane Dion (who also has an office in Centre Block) doesn’t. To answer that, I find myself looking over some of my past blogposts on Mr. Goodale:
27 Sep 2005: Mr. Goodale, then finance minister, dismisses the Tories as “a gaggle of silly people.”
29 May 2009: in opposition, Mr. Goodale criticizes Tory MP Pierre Poilievre for using the phrase “tar baby.”
29 Apr 2010: as House Leader, Mr. Goodale forbids Liberal caucus members from offering any sort of tribute to the retiring New Democrat, Judy Wasylycia-Leis.
My conclusion: the Hon. Ralph Goodale, PC, is a petty politician.”

Theodre Dalrymple, in his inimitable way, eviscerates secular, liberal “thought” and “morals”—and quite nicely shows that such, mechanistic liberals are devoid of both!
From the Spring 2011 City Journal
THEODORE DALRYMPLE
Murder Most Academic
A British Ph.D. candidate puts “homicide studies” into practice.
“. . . One problem of liberal social thought is that it consigns a larger and larger proportion of the human race to the category of people driven into trouble. But there are other difficulties, too. Precisely because it is impossible to think of human life in consistently mechanistic terms, the liberal is soon led into contradictions. . . so it is not surprising that the article about Griffiths’s [a sadistic serial killer] victims fairly oozes with morality, albeit of a saccharine and self-regarding kind, while at the same time pretending to avoid judgment.
“For example, it refuses to use the word ‘prostitute,’ replacing it with ‘sex worker’ and ‘street worker.’ The reason is clear enough: ‘prostitute’ has negative moral connotations. The word ‘prostitution’ suffers the same fate: it becomes ‘sex work.’ This seems to have the corollary that both the work and the worker are perfectly respectable, the work having a social status, perhaps, somewhere between supermarket-shelf-stacking and neurosurgery. . .
“It is the naming that is the shaming. Change the name, and you change the thing, or at any rate the moral significance of the thing. Language is a powerful instrument, but not as powerful as that.
“What lies behind these mental contortions? It is a form of sentimentality, a mask for a deeper indifference, according to which people who suffer or have led unhappy lives must be transformed into blameless victims so that we can pity them. . . .”

Robert W. The above line I gleaned from the link you provided (after a shudder) seems to sum the ilk you mention up. Thanks for the info.
As to Justthinkin’s comment. All farmers know that all our produce is truly organic as it comes from the ground. Perhaps try explaining this fact to any left thinking person you run into. There use of ‘organic’ to refer to produce grown/raised without the benefit of modern scientific advances mystifies me. Just wait til they try to explain to you how ‘no til’ is good (due to no carbon released from tillage and less fuel per acre used) but want you to somehow combine this advanced practice with abandoning the use of herbicides. Cause, yeah, that should work…

Great article by David Warren for those wanting to bask in post-election glory a little more:
“The plan is: next election Layton gets Ignatieffed. It will be easy. The Tories will wait until the election is in view, then buy off Quebec. (I told you my analysis would be jaded.) Meanwhile, Harper looks forward to a full term with an inexperienced and rather batty opposition, who can be counted on to show themselves unfit to govern a suburban daycare.”

“Iraq’s Kristallnacht: 70 Years Later”
“Seventy years ago, on June 1, 1941, the most dramatic and violent pogrom in the Arab Middle East during World War II took place in the Iraqi capital, Baghdad. Known in Arabic as the Farhūd, this devastating pogrom left approximately 150 Jews dead, hundreds more wounded, and led to the ransacking of nearly 600 Jewish businesses. The grim events of June 1-2, 1941 were the Iraqi Arab equivalent of the mass violence on Kristallnacht, which had taken place some two and a half years earlier across Nazi Germany. The anti-Jewish riots were mainly led by Iraqi soldiers (bitter and frustrated by their defeat at the hands of the British Army), some members of the police and young paramilitary gangs, swiftly followed by an angry Muslim population that went on the rampage in an orgy of murder and rapine.
The pogrom struck at what was the most prosperous, prominent and well-integrated Jewish community in the Middle East – one whose origins went back more than 2,500 years – long before there was any Arab presence in the country. The 90,000 Jews of Baghdad, it should be said, played a major role in the commercial and professional life of the city. However, in the 1930s they already found themselves confronted by an increasingly virulent anti-Semitic and anti-Zionist propaganda in the Iraqi press and among nationalist political groups. This agitation treated the intensely patriotic Iraqi Jews as an alien, hostile minority who had to be ejected from all the social, economic and political positions it held in the Iraqi state.
Iraqi Arab nationalists, like their counterparts in Syria, Lebanon, Palestine and Egypt, had been much influenced in the 1930s by the rise of Nazi Germany. Hitler’s National Socialism attracted them as a spectacular, authoritarian model for achieving Iraqi national unity and a wider union of Arabs in the region. It was no accident that the pro-German ideologue of pan-Arabism, Sati al-Husri, exerted a major influence on Iraqi education after arriving in Baghdad in 1921, or that Michel Aflaq, the chief theoretician of the Iraqi and Syrian Ba’athists had also absorbed German national-socialist ideas while studying in Paris between 1928-1932.”
