  1. Select quotes from Michael Ignatieff, Renaissance man:
    As Dan Danger:
“I have spent my whole life dealing with bullies. Some of them had guns.” (h/t BC Blue)
    As the Redneck:
“I think of a wonderful young woman I met a couple of weeks ago in Newfoundland. She said to me, ‘you know what I want to be, I want to be a bulldozer driver. And I said, you go girl because you’re going to achieve a dream I’ve had since I was a child.”
Blowing the cover of legacy media journalists everywhere:
“I was never accountable the way I am now, I was a journalist.”
    Going out on a limb:
“The Liberal Party is going to show up and vote Liberal on Monday.”

  3. Hey Jack, remember stripper-gate?
[NDP Leader Jack Layton then laid into Sgro. Said he: “The visa program we have is reprehensible. It is essentially providing women from very poor countries to come to Canada and dance for Canadian men and get involved in the sex trade.”
By not stopping the importation of nude dancers, Sgro was “pimping for the sex trade,” said Layton.]
The link was from CBC news form 2004:

CBC looks like they removed it (I’m sure by mistake, but archive.org has a screen shot.)

  4. I don’t know what’s more ridiculous about this story, the defendant’s claims that his alleged rape victim was trying to steal his sperm, or the fact that there is such a thing as the Winnipeg Afro-Aboriginal Crosscultural Association.

  5. Mr. Layton is saying that it was a community clinic not a brothel. He’s either lying or spectacularly naive. Either way he’s exhibiting a massive character flaw. A flaw that renders him unfit for the office of prime minister.

  6. I suspect if I got myself nekked in a community clinic – the cops would show up. Some to admire – some to arrest.

  7. Sorry, the inquisitive me couldn’t resist. REVERSE function outputs the given text string in reverse order. REVERSE(‘maps’) filter test.
max, that is one of the most bizarre defenses I’ve ever heard of. Couldn’t stop laughing when the response to question the defendant was asked (if REVERSE(‘xes lana’) could result in pregnancy) was “I’m not a doctor”.
Found it even more amusing when a “Vote Liberal” ad showed up beside the story.

  8. Trent – I thinking some little dork of a NDPer (is there any different kind?) just got his ass fired from the ad company.
Nothing more beautiful than watching someone roman candle their life.
BTW: Is the word blacklist racist?

  9. Canada’s election laws are really out to lunch. Got this message from our Campaign Manager today.
    Dear Campaign Team Members,
As you may know, there is an advertising blackout starting at 12:00am on Election Day, May 2nd. The blackout period ends when the polls close at 7 pm in BC.
The Canada Elections Act states that campaign messages on the Internet cannot be changed during this blackout period. This applies to all campaign websites. It also means that no one can post messages on Facebook or Twitter that are related to the election. This applies to all candidates, Caucus Members, campaign volunteers and employees, and must cover all times zones.
Here is the blackout period for our time zone:
    Pacific Time: May 1 at 7:00pm – May 2 at 7:00pm

  10. The College of Chiropractors announced today that bicycle rides through inner city communities for late night appointments can do wonders for lower back pain. While this research hold promise to those in chronic pain, they caution that this is not a complete replacement for regular chiropractic care.
Great. Now they tell me. And to think of all the money I spent on spinal decompression, physio and pain killers.

  11. before May 2 .. “Stornoway.”
after May 2 .. “Whore? no way.”

    Leftist Ottawa Citizen, Canada:
“What’s wrong with a coalition anyway?
While it has been the dominate issue of this election campaign, many other western nations, like Britain and Australia, live quite happily with their coalition governments.”

    …-
    Leftist Guardian: Britain.
“Cabinet at war over Liberal Democrat call for pact to beat Tories”
“Tensions inside the coalition government are at new heights after a Liberal Democrat cabinet minister called on voters to form an anti-Tory alliance in Thursday’s referendum on electoral reform in order to deprive the Conservatives of power.
In an extraordinary intervention, Chris Huhne, the energy secretary, has shattered any remaining semblance of cabinet unity by insisting that the referendum is an opportunity for the country’s “progressive majority” to back change and avoid a repeat of the “worst excesses of the Thatcher government”.”

  13. Hi folks. Can anyone here provide a link to a site that shows the viewership percentages of Sun TV, CBC, and CTV? Inquiring minds want to know…
    Thanks.

  14. A song for the season:
It’s a strange, strange world we live in, Master Jack.
No hard feelings if I never come back
You’re a very strange man and I thank you, Master Jack.

A Toronto city councillor is skeptical about Jack Layton’s version of the massage parlor/clinic events.
Says there were a couple of dozen massage parlors operating that were suspected of engaging in illicit sexual activity, and that there is no reasonable explanation for JL NOT knowing about them.
Layton WAS a councillor from 1982,so he was no novice, and being the socially concerned guy he is must have been well aware of the police investigations into organized crime in the sex business.

  16. Your right Sean, this is good news!
Now the lefty vote will be split more heavily in close races with the conservatives comming up the middle.
I think you need to look up the definition of the word ‘smear’. The facts are that Jack Layton was caught naked, by the police, in a message parlour suspeed of carrying out illegal activities.
Since when did the truth become a smear?….
I think an individual such as yourself would prefer Cuba or perhaps China as your place of permanent residence, as they are as equally concerned about the truth as you appear to be.

  17. Sorry, there are a bunch of ridings where “the lefty vote” is not resulting in conservatives “coming up the middle.” BC, Quebec, Saskatchewan, and a few select ridings in other provinces all have races where the Liberals are not even contenders. People either vote Conservative or NDP. The latter are pushing out the Cons especially in Quebec and BC. So, no majority for you tomorrow. NDP will be the official opposition and will then form a coalition with the Liberals to govern after Harper fails to recognize that 63% of the country didn’t vote for him. Isn’t it beautiful?! 🙂

  18. And, no, I’m not concerned about who Jack Layton slept with 16 years ago. Even if he paid for it. I know these are the kinds of things that pre-occupy the nosy, twisted, minds of social conservatives, but I’m concerned with the private lives of our politicians nor am I voting for one person, I’m voting for a platform of ideas.
I support the legalization of said services because it is an industry that will always exist and the women at least have some degree of formal rights and protection if it is considered to be above board. Keeping it illegal hasn’t helped anyone.

  19. Craig Oliver just outed the coalition on Question Period. What a piece of crap that man is. Sure the day before election you finally cough it up you little pointy headed loon. Go ask Layton for a massage there Craig.

  20. Hows this for covering your a$$
    COMPASS Poll, May 1 2011
[Wild Card—Possibly the Most Bizarre, Unstable,
    Upside-Down Election since Confederation
Volatile NDP Support Could Rise to 36% or Fall to 20% in Next 36
Hours Depending on Voters’ Mood and the NDP Machine]
IOW, the pollsters have just been pulling the numbers out of thin air this last month, trying to drive the agenda/bandwagon effect. Soooo to cover their butts they go with the NDP in a 36% to 20% range. A 16% swing is possible ?? In just 36 hours? What a joke.
Yes, I say, pulling numbers out of thin air. Well, have you ever seen any raw polling data, the list of those “chosen” to be polled during each survey? Has anyone you know ever been allowed a peek at their methods?
I bet Pravda and Tass wish they would have though of using this method to rig their polls – may have prolonged the socialist misery another decade.

  21. The Liberals are already conceding defeat…
Beg, borrow or STEAL to rake in the money to define the next Liberal leader….Y’okay.
” ‘If Harper puts forward similar budgets to what he’s done, if somebody asks my opinion, I’d say vote it down and cut the deal with the NDP the way Bob Rae did with David Peterson,’ says Siegal.” (“If Harper puts forward similar budgets to what he’s done, if somebody asks my opinion, I’d say vote it down and cut the deal with the NDP the way Bob Rae did with David Peterson,” says Siegal. (Jack Siegal, the Liberal Party’s legal counsel.)

  22. Sean
    A little news for you…
72-72% of the electorate isn’t voting for the Dipper Commies.
And do not assume for a moment that the Liberals will be in any shape to join a coalition with the Dips as the minority partner. Their whole deal was based upon them being the rulers.
Given the other way round, there are enough Blue Libs, with connections on Bay St, that will nothing to do with the Commies.
I expect a handful of Libs to cross the floor, to prevent the economic ruin of the Dippers destroying our proud nation.
This is not a time to experiment with a bucnh of partisan, self-indulgent union rabble rousers whose prime objective is to ‘stick it to the man!’
That’s what we are watching evolve in the states, and its not working at all. Let’s learn from the Yanks, a socialist in power only knows one thing….SPEND SPEND SPEND, without any quantifiable positive effect….do we need to repeat their failed experiment?

  23. You guys give the liberals way too much credit. Bob Rae and Dosanjh are drooling over getting a cabinet seat in an NDP government.

  24. This false notion that some ignorant Leftards have that all Liberals & NDP’ers are in harmony with one another is pure poppycock. Many Liberals are MUCH MORE closely aligned with Tories than their socialist/communist brethren in the NDP. Unfortunately facts never get in the way of the fantasies of the Left.

  25. infinitysquared @12:30 “BTW: Is the word blacklist racist?”
Yes. Everything is racist. (Unless you’re a lefty. Then nothing is.)

  26. I just heard Michael Ignatieff on the news criticizing the Tories for the largest deficit in history. Ummmm, Mikey, that was because you DEMANDED that they bail out all of those companies!!!
We should all remember that Iggy thinks we all have the memory capabilities of a hospital full of Alzheimers patients.

  27. glasnost- thanks for the link.
Don’t know what to make of it, but it sure has a wealth of information in it.
Certainly a quick reference guide for each province, each riding.
As a westerner, I hope the orange tide sputters out before it gets here, and I’d dearly love to see that freaky looking loon out of Edmonton-Strathcona turfed.
Secondly, Kelly Block in Saskatton-Rosetown-Biggar deserves re-election over that NFU (National Farmers Union)/NDP gadfly Nettie Wiebe.
Thirdly, they’re predicting Dona Cadman losing her Surrey North seat to Smilin’ Jack’s guy. Not that I see Cadman as an extra special MP, I just have a thing about relinquishing any ground to those leftard interlopers.
Sweetest of all would be to see Ralphie Goodale sent packing, but they’ll still be electing him two elections after they plant him in Peaceful Pines, or wherever.

  28. It has come down to the big question……..
Will Iggy show up to vote?

  29. Her’s a link to the Compas poll that was mentioned by Ron in Kelowna. It has the Conservatives at 46%. I’m skeptical about that. If you live in a riding that is close, please vote and bring out as many supporters as you can

    http://compas.ca/110501-FedElectionPoll-EPCB.html

BTW,last Monday I put in a complaint to Elections Canada about Joe Volpe trashing Green party pamphlets. They said they would get back to me. They didn’t,no surprise there.

  30. Bin Laden is dead! Obama just announced to the people of the USA. Massive crouds in front of White House.
