Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

“I will be in those debates”. Delusional
No, she won’t.
My, how some people are full of themselves!
Well….it looks like I’ll be able to hear the legitimate participants this time. Last time there was an annoying yapping noise in the background.
Are we growing up? Will we be lucky enough to have an adult debate so Harper can verbally spank the charter member of Canadas intelliduncia Iggula and hurt Decepts feelings all while sticking an apple in Lenins mouth, without the yapping pit yorkie May knawing on his leg, hopefully. I bet the Toronto libsuk media, annoint Heather Mallice moderator.
Best news today.
No one despises Lizzie May more than me but I believe that if she’s allowed into the debate, it only helps Stephen Harper.
Is she taking her knowledge of democracy from the Wisconsin Democrats? … their idea of who gets to make these choices seems to differ from those that favor majority rule as well.
Cameras on, sound on, lights on and I hear a voice in the distance. It’s Liz.
“This is just the voice

Kinyobe, I bow to you, my words exactly!
She was (and still is) an outright boor, in the last ‘debate’ where she harangued, shouted, ran-on, interrupted, and was generally very offensive and impolite.
She has no place, and no right to be there. This time, let her sue, do what ever, cry on TV, who cares, her party is a bunch of lightweights, with ZERO elected members, which is a slamdunk to continue.
This time the NDP and Liberals will NOT support her being included, because her 87% ~ 10% of the vote in the past has been the difference for winning some seats for BOTH of them … they won’t be so “inclusive” of Lizzie this time … thank God.
“Green” is a movement, sort of like being vegan or being a Star Wars fan … becoming a political party was a major over-reach.
Maybe she could have a debate with Pat Martin?
I’d even watch CBC to see that.
Well, I for one am thrilled that Lizzy has been excluded but for a different reason. While she is extremely annoying and the debate is a joke at best, the next few days or weeks with Lizzy trying to get public support to once again get her a podium should be extremely entertaining. Perhaps the most entertainment we’ll get from this campaign.
IGGY on the campaign trail.

Never my Elizabeth May…Who will speak for the coalition in the debates?
mind
Now if they would take the next step and exclude Duceppe from the English debate! He’s another one of the ankle biters and a disruptive force. He cannot obtain votes outside the Quebec borders anyway.
Let him participate in the French one. That’s the one geared mainly for Quebec, and for the Anglo’s there, English translation is offerred.
It should be Harper against the other two. I would like those odds.
Some good news. Exit stage right, pushed all the way.
Robert W:
“No one despises Lizzie May more than me but I believe that if she’s allowed into the debate, it only helps Stephen Harper.”
I agree with you. It’ll give the effect of a bunch of little chihuahuas yapping at a bemused big dog. That’s what it looked like last time, and it didn’t hurt Harper.
I guess then she’s out in the cold? That must be tough to bear. Still, Layton can recycle her arguments and Iggy may be able to sustain them.
Maybe Lizzie can get a spot on Canadian Idol instead.

Liberal bias, not!
Thank God I am going to be in Arizona for the whole month of April and don’t have to listen to all the b—s— for 4 weeks!
toss her a bark-on log.
and a great big cup of shut the f ck up.
DanBC, gratias tibi.
You reminded me of that debate. Does she want another shot at Harper?
And I thought this was about the voter!
Unhide the decline!
Don’t I get a h/t?
Texas Canuck at March 29, 2011 6:35 PM on the Iggy and the coalition thread.
Actually, I’m so happy the debates will not be “green” it doesn’t matter about the h/t. ;-)>
She doesn’t belong in the debates because:
She’s never held a seat in parliament
Her “party” holds no seats now, and most importantly:
She, and her big mouth, ruined the last debates. She doesn’t know how to debate, just rant and interrupt.
BTW, what an arrogant twit.
Who the hell does May think she is?
Left-lib entitlement syndrome.
Shut up, Ellie May.
Banned from the debate!!!!
She’s still going to be on the nickel, right?
Without Lizard masticating the fat at the All Can’s Gabfest, Our CBC will have to rely on Suzy to get to the bottom of this theory.
“*One theory is that this is because the public is not intimately familiar with the nature of the climate uncertainties being discussed.”

A vote for the Green Party is probably a vote lost for the NDP or the Liberals. I found her utterly obnoxious at the last debate but I don’t think it hurt Mr. Harper one bit.
In fact, the “debates” are anything but. A bunch of people shout for a while. If the broadcasters were serious about helping Canadians and democracy, they would get a decent moderator with a switch for every microphone so that the participants could take turns, respond thoughtfully, and actually finish a sentence.
Clear and unequivocal proof there is indeed a merciful God.
All the best… Jeff
Twenty years before the ‘Green’ Party was able to crack the 100,000 voter mark, the Rhinoceros Party did it. They did it with roughly the same numbers of candidates as well.
But the Rhino Party never had $1M in public funding either – which obviously took them to the next level wherein they could afford to run a full slate of 308 candidates. Get rid of their $1.95/vote and they’ll completely disappear.
Hippies don’t have jobs and would never contribute to their own causes if it cost them the money they claim to hate. It the CPC gets a majority, the Greens will fold.
Lizzard May, Buffalo Wallow Woman…
The environment paranoia piffle is off the radar in this election. Finally.
The CBC has a poll up on Lizzard May being in the Debates. Freep it here. http://www.cbc.ca/news/yourcommunity/2011/03/elizabeth-may-should-the-green-party-leader-be-invited-to-the-tv-debates.html

Us Quebec anglos don’t need english subtitles.
90% of us are fluent in French.
We still don’t like Duceppe
Rich @9:14 thanks! good LOL
Good news indeed. As others state it will be no loss but rather a gain to the debate. Even better, also as stated lose Duceppe in the english debate until his party fields candidates in the rest of the country. Best of all, debate odds being one to three, afford reply time to our current PM immediatly to each question. I would think PMSH could dictate some rules of debate. In this forum Canadians would be treated to a debate instead of a shouting match. It would probably be a stretch to expect a moderator actually moderating understanding that this, after all, will be a Corpse production.
What’s the difference between the Suez Canal and Lizzy May?
One is a busy ditch and the other is a dizzy…well you get the idea.
Best news I’ve heard in a while! And for Allah’s sake go back to the old style of podiums, not that bloody “kitchen table” crap. And get a moderator who’ll tell Jack Layton to shut up when his time’s up!
IF May IS invited, why in hell isn’t the Communist Party of Canada invited too? They’ve been around since 1921, and DID elect an MP in Winnipeg in the 1950’s David Orlikow.
May is a loud mouthed latecomer, not welcome in any serious political debate.
Checked out that poll – think all 5,396 Green Party members have voted.
jlc- I expect you’re right on that, and please don’t take it as a slur.
My point being that why is the Bloc leader even allowed to participate in the national English language debate when 80% of the country has no option either to vote for or against him?
His last participation resulted in more of a muddying of the waters with his unwelcomed interjections, disrupting the few authentic debates that spawned.
Puzzling, in the ROC, he seems to have acquired somewhat of a supportive following and admiration, but these twits never stop to think of what he really stands for! And what it will mean for the ROC. If it ain’t good for Quebec, he will never, never sign on.
I would really like some brave legal mind to explore the vaguaries of sedition.
Voting for the Grits is voting for the BQ; and voting the CPC is a vote against them.
WHISKEY TANGO FOXTROT
Should Green Party Leader Elizabeth May be invited to participate in the televised debates?
Yes 82.61% (5,671 votes)
No 15.59% (1,070 votes)
I’m not sure 0.83% (57 votes)
I don’t care 0.98% (67 votes)
Total Votes: 6,865
The best way to handle the debate is for each candidate to be separated by a sound proof box with a speaker and a microphone. THe microphone comes with a volume limiter that if the candidate starts yelling it shuts off. The mic also only stays on as long as its the candidates turn to talk. If the candidate would want to rebut an an opponents point there would be a switch for a light to allow the moderator to turn on the mic for the allotted time.
If the debates where doen this way, I would think it ok for sister LizzieMay to participate.
However, because she can’t control herself and behaves like a child, I look forward to her tantrum she is going to put on display when she is blocked from even entering the room.
Its sad really. The Greens must be kicking themselves, at least when the election is over they can select a real leader.
I, for one, will not stand by while one of the greatest examples of over education and under bite is not allowed to make a spectacle of herself.
Just sitting and watching with indifference is more my style.
I’m waiting for Lizzie May to use the gender card – just like she did the last time (and it worked, unfortunately).
“The only reason I’m being excluded from the debates is because I’m a woman! You are all sexist pigs! Never mind that other fringe parties are also excluded (and that they happen to have male leaders). This is because of ME – because I’m a WOMAN! It’s sexism! Discrimination because I’m a WOMAN!”
I know where Robert is coming from on this and I have mixed feelings about May’s exclusion from the debate as people can see what she actually is if she is allowed on the stage.
Someone suggested a firmer moderators hand to keep Jack Lenin in check and I support that in spades.
Let’s face it.. the only reason the media allowed Elizabeth Mao in on the “debates” last time was to protect that nit-wit from France, Dijon. The media were just trying to shield Dijon, because it was well known within media circles that the Liberal leader was a bit of a half-wit, dipshit.
I’d sure like a good explanation from the broadcasters why she was included before and will not be now.
Heres the only thing that makes sense to me:
Lizzy is not part of the coalition, and the coalition needs all the votes they can get. Ergo, Lizzie must not get any face time.
Media fully dedicated to doing whatever they can to ensure the leftist vote doesn’t get split beyond the coalition.
