Tonight’s musical selection is a song about a young Irishman’s odyssey of anger, drinking, sorrow, fatigue, drinking, fist-fighting, exhilaration, and drinking: here are The Dubliners performing the classic slip jig Rocky Road to Dublin. (Lyrics here.)

Save the whales, build a coal fired generating station:
“Offshore wind farms are one of the main reasons why whales strand themselves on beaches, according to scientists studying the problem.”
(…)
“Scientists at the University of St Andrews studying beaked whales, a species that frequently becomes beached in Britain, concluded that they were extraordinarily timid creatures that were scared ‘by virtually anything unusual’, despite being the size of a rhinoceros and weighing the same as a London bus.
“The findings suggest that more strandings can be expected as ministers are planning a major expansion in the number of offshore wind farms…”

Remember how they said “Don’t be ridiculous!” to those who warned that opening the door to same sex marriage would lead to opening it to polygamy.
http://www.thestar.com/news/canada/article/955686–polygamy-law-intrusive-rights-group-tells-court
“The B.C. Civil Liberties Association has filed a final argument in B.C. Supreme Court against the polygamy law, saying it is a Victorian-era statute that should be “relegated to the scrap heap of history.”

Odd that “offshore wind farms” were the last three words of that piece. Almost like the author didn’t want to mention it.
Leftards…f#*king things up one unintended consequence at a time.
Juxtapose. Proof positive that Kyoto in Canada is deader than a door nail.
Anyone remember who that guy from Quebec was? You know, the one who went to Copenhagen to nip at PM Harper’s heels and rant on and on blah blah about bad boy Canada and it’s fossil fuel industry ?? Ya that guy.
Dec 2010 – Quebec’s Jean Charest received his ‘carbon dioxide fighter’ award in Cancun.
Today, Quebec plans to develope it’s fracking natural gas reserves.
No word yet on why nat gas in Quebec releases no carbon dioxide when used.
Suzuki will be bashing Charest in 3 2 1 …..

“Pals” hook up guy’s brakes to the horn.

Speedy
I did that once to a toolpush on the rigs. This was back in the day when we had radio-telephones with the horn relay. Best part was that he drove a standard and didn’t catch on when he took off.
Laughed our asses off following him from location…frantically trying to answer the phone every time he hit the brakes.
Canada To Send Warplanes To Enforce Libya No-Fly Zone – Report

Off to Oz again.
Syncro, thanks for the laugh. Reminds me of way back when wireless phones were in transition from units installed in vehicles to somewhat portable cell phones. My brother’s construction crew was forming the third floor when the boss showed up for a visit. His truck horn blares away and Marv runs down to take the call, but 2 seconds too late. He climbs back up the three floors to the crew and his phone rings again. This time he really hurries, but misses the call again. I think he gave up on the third or fourth try and went back to the office. The guy with the new cell phone was grinning all day.
When you’re really Irish, every day of the year is Saint Paddy’s day.

Palin Doctrine Emerges as Arab League Echoes Her Demarche on Libya
The call by the Arab League for Western military intervention in an Arab state — in this case asking that a UN “no-fly zone” be imposed over Libya – is not only without precedent but it puts in formal terms what Governor Palin stated three weeks ago should have been America’s response to the political and humanitarian crisis now unfolding there.

I’m sure you highbrow types haven’t been following Charlie Sheen’s meltdown, but I have a bit, and I think this is hilarious: Charlie Sheen quotes inserted into random New Yorker cartoons: http://www.buzzfeed.com/mjs538/charlie-sheen-quotes-as-new-yorker-cartoons
(For the uninitiated, The New Yorker’s cartoons are famous for a]featuring lots of animals for no discernable reason and b]just being really baffling.)

That should get rid of the trolls.
“A strike called by unpaid Huffington Post contributors received a major boost Wednesday with a call to arms released by the national Newspaper Guild.
The industry association called on contributors not currently on strike to cease contributions and asked members to help by “shining a light on the unprofessional and unethical practices of this company.””
