  1. Whose “right” will triumph?
The right of the sperm donor to have his legal contract honoured?
Or the desire of the grown child to know her family tree?
Our society is becoming one of ever-increasing “rights” based on feelings and poorly defined values and decreasing rights based on law.

  2. How many children are under a false pretense as to whom their father is? It’s nothing new that children are oblivious to their biological roots. Women have been been keeping secret the identity biological fathers since the beginning of time.
Quite frankly, the information this woman is looking for is completely trivial, and is none of her business.

  3. Her father is the guy who raised her. Next question?
Oh good. That perfectly sets up a scheme where babies born in hospitals can be randomly handed out to the parents, for the parents who raise them will be the only parents that matter. Next question.

  4. Kate, I think you are off key on this one.
I don’t think so. I see a woman demanding the legal contract under which she was conceived be revisited. I think it’s fair to point out it need not have happened at all.

Parents can’t bind their children to legal contracts. This is why, even if a woman agrees to forgo child support and ends up in poverty alongside her child, the child is still entitled to support from the father. The mother has no right to bargain away the child support that is due to the child.
Olivia Pratten didn’t consent to having half of her heritage stripped away from her in order for her mother to fulfill her desire to have a child.
The mother’s desire to have a child shouldn’t come at the expense, or the harm, of the child itself.

  6. Carl, yes in deed, when all is said and done it is all about…
    ME! ME! ME! ME! ME!”

  7. Amen Bobby! I am tired of the people saying “DNA is not important”. Then let’s abolish the rules on delivery wards, throw all the babies in a pen and pick the one you like. After all, it doesn’t matter, does it?
Your parents are the ones who raise you.
Your kid is the one you love an nurture.
Let’s just make it a free for all!
