  6. I just recieved a credit card (witch i did not ask for ) from mbna my current credit card company and on that card is a big shiny gold flur de li….is this mbna not a canadian company regulated by canadian bank’s and credit holders?
    Is this canadian nationalism ,is this what it is to be canadian? who the he!! do these people think they are ?
    I tried to get them on the phone but the line was busy but i wanted to let you and all else who care to know what is going on seems a bit of french nationalism not canadian where is the canadian flag ? What the heck is going on!! MAN I AM SOO MAD RIGHT NOW ,I AM JUST FURIUOS THIS IS NOT FUNNY . I am sooo ticked off right now . How can anyone do this or be allowed to do this .
    If you want proof or evidence i will gladly send you a pic or a scan of this card witch i did not activate and i will not activate i wil not usei t i am discusted this is just wrong this is canada …not quebec!!
    They told me it was a new card for replacing the old one for pay pass and it was more secure ..sorry anything with a flur de li on it does not make me feel secure in anyway secure in anyway.

    I checked out the profile of MBNA. Canadian headquarters are in Montreal, Quebec. Last time I looked, Montreal was in Canada. If it had an oil derrick on it, would you be complaining? And my guess is that the fleur-de-lis may me a security mark.
    And to think that I had commnets removed from this site because I was too “racist.”

  12. Not a reader tip – but blending an oilsands and Mississauga Matt’s tip
    I was recently talking to a physician from Fort Mac (Mc).
    He said there are a lot of Muslim agitators up there now. A woman married a Muslim guy who owned a local shop – she was a “Caucasoid Canadian” – people started showing up at the house, and telling her she had to cover herself – it got so bad that they both moved away.
    Next complaint, not that it matters – am I really white, and classifiable as so? I darken more than some of my Philippino friends in the summer, and have more in common with my Commonwealth colleagues (Indian, Fijian) than my true Caucasoid pigmented cohort. (eg south Eastern European)

  13. Hey Scripto – your comment is interesting. It raises some interesting questions – such as should PiC be annoyed because his card has a fleur-de-lis?
    Well, he is; is he right or is he wrong?
    I remember back to when I was a kid – and my mom’s cousin married a woman from Quebec. Many people were shocked – not only was she Catholic, but she was a francophone.
    Those concerns seem petty to me now, now that we are entering clashes of civilizations (see comments above).
    Yet, our politicians will be happy to polarize us on the wrong topics.

    ‘Guess this means that Maggie Trudeau’s going to have to eat her words. Yesterday she was quoted as saying something inane about her late ex-husband’s legacy which oozed unctuousness and flat-out craziness.
    A few days ago, the dizzy dame attended a launching of a 188-page book of black and white images of the late prime minister taken by Canadian Press news photographers to mark the 10th anniversary of Mr. Trudeau’s death today. (I won’t be buying it.)

    i know where they are but if i were to put the alberta flag on cards other than the ones distributed in alberta i am sure the canadians that speak french and live in quebec would be pissed it should have a canadian flag on it or nothing , And i don’t give a sh!t where there head office is located it may be petty but ,it really upset me that’s all !! i don’t want people associating me with sepratist canadians who speak french !!!

    Look I read you and I respect your discontent. But MBNA must have a valid reason for having the fleur-de-lis on the card! I have a Maple Leaf on mine, there are no sugar maples west of Winnipeg, however I do know that the bank didn’t purposely place the Maple Leaf on the card to aggrivate me. I also have an eagle on the back side, I’m not American, do I give a hoot? No I don’t. Why breed uneccessary resentment agaisnt Quebec or France when that may have absolutely nothing to do with it? That’s all I’m saying.

    In case you were wondering, this is a joke. Mr. Williams is a guest on CBC’s comedy show, 22 Minutes, Tuesday night. But it’s not very funny; it’s cringe-worthy… Jane Taber is not amused.
