The First American Prime Minister: Not Reconnected Enough!

Now is the time at SDA when we juxtapose!
CBC, July 13th, 2010Michael Ignatieff says the Liberals must “reconnect to Canadians” over the summer […] the Liberal leader also dismissed polls that suggest many Canadians perceive the author and former academic as arrogant.
Toronto Sun, Sept 12th, 2010Liberal Leader Michael Ignatieff’s former chief of staff, Ian Davey, hit Sun Media readers below the belt Sunday, saying they’re all illiterate.

57 Replies to “The First American Prime Minister: Not Reconnected Enough!”

  1. This comment by Ian Davey confirms the Liberal view that if you do not support Liberal values, you are a bad Canadian.

  2. This just a repetition of the US DemocRAT theme that unless you vote for them you are educated. I speculate many voted for OBOZO to prove to themselve they were not only post-racial but most important….educated.
Ironically it only sells to the ignorant and un-educated.

  3. coincedently: The Lets Gang up on Rob Ford was held last nite on Omni 1 & 2, If you missed this
It was the Toronto Mayoral Debate.

  4. A most definite “clinging to guns and bibles” moment, to be sure. Liberal elitism knows no bounds.

  5. Nothing defines common like your sidekick rural rube wearing a ball cap and a suit holding an umbrella. Hopefully I’ll see that during harvest..if there is one.

  6. Kate i just dont get it?
You posted the Link to this article, Why?
When we are all Iliterate? And we wont be able to read that?
Lets all remember that most Conservatives enjoy the Sun & we are aka Knuckledragging Redneck bible thumping LongGun toting Naaziii’s With little or No Education.

  7. Exactly Sasq, it’s not just the Liberal party; it’s Progressives in general.
Last week I alluded to a conversation with a Muslim friend. In the end, his argument reverted to the “you don’t know what you’re talking about”.

  8. You have to love the way these myopic Liberal elitists keep suiciding themselves in the rural and small town Canada. They just can;t hide their hatred of real people.
Genetic liberal arrogance has always held a deep contempt for middle Canada (or anyone outside their smug little network).
Elitism is tyranny just waiting to happen.

  9. Yes, Spell Check can be your friend; saying that, however, Albert Einstein was an atrocious speller!
    ******
All these comments by leftist leaders are being collected for future campaign ads, of that I have no doubt.

  10. 327 negative comments at the SUN and counting:
    My favorite:

I’d like to write something to Mr. Davey, but how do you write in crayon on a computer?
THERE ARE CRAYON FONTS FOR YOUR COMPUTER!

  11. Illiterate readers. Does Ian Davey know what a “contradictio in adjecto” is, or is he just another one of those uneducated college graduates?

  12. Another great juxtapose Kate and an equally effective one would be all those SUN newspapers at ALL those ‘TIMMYs’ stops on the, visiting the great unwashed, tour.

  13. Hans: the comments have gone viral Now @ 370 and thats what, 20mins since you posted 327
I guess that right cause i cant tell time either!

  14. Is it a case of Brains speaking to the cheap seats…, or it the Cheap seats speaking to brains?
    Its the latter,

  15. Connect (land on or hit solidly) “The brick connected on her head, knocking her out”
So you see, the Ignatistaffer is perfectly consistent with his boss.

  16. As a beer and popcorn, knuckle-dragger, I like the Sun because it has pictures.
I’ll bet Ian Davey gets Gentlemen’s Quarterly for the same reason.

  17. Being a Liberal, I’ll bet dollars to donuts, that Davey bought Playboy when he was a young adult “for the articles”!!!
How else could he have such a great edumakashun!

  18. And now we know why Mr. Davey is no longer Igantieff’s CoS We do thank him, however, for his latest pronouncement.
An aside — I remain unconvinced that Ignatieff actually entered a Tim Hortons during his “tour”.

  19. Ian Davey’s real problem is that WE CAN READ
It would be better for him and his elitist ilk if we were all truly illiterate peasants. Then he and his would have more control.
As it is, we are presenting him with more than he and his can handle or he wouldn’t be lamenting about us in the first place.

  20. Davey Boy was really unfair to his former boss Iggy who went around the country on a bus all summer trying to convince us he had the common touch, I mean he likes the smell of barns, how common is that?

  21. Ignatieff has shown himself to be a total failure, completely disconnected from the average Canadian. His cronies, such as Mr. Davey, hurl insults at the “beer and popcorn” crowd and look upon non-Liberals as nothing more than uneducated, red-necked boors. In the meantime, PMSH continues to provide stellar leadership and Canada remains economically stable in very troubling times.
Yet the Liberals remain neck and neck with the Conservatives … according to the pollsters anyway. What am I missing here? Do that many people watch CBC and absorb the Liberal propaganda?
In a perfect world, the Conservatives should have a 2-1 lead on the Liberals with a majority government in the bag after the next election.

  22. I may be “illiterate” but I can remember the letters in a name long enough to check it off on a ballot on election day.

  23. Well you see, folks, the reason you’re all illiterate is because when our anointed betters (Leftists) were learning how to read, you all were dragging your knuckles around, striving every day to oppress & harm more and more people.
Fast forward to today, this is why all of your views are now unequivocally wrong and not worth listening to.

  24. The basic reason why we don’t have a conservative majority is because Canadian culture in the main is far too collectivist. Too many people in this nation believe that they are entitled to something for nothing and get quite upset when anyone suggests the opposite. Just look at the reaction to the proposal to build a hockey stadium in Quebec city with tax dollars. Most Canadian taxpayers appear to have treated this news with a shrug.
The crucial problem is not how Canadians vote; it is how they perceive reality and their thinking processes regarding it. If this process is a scrambled mess of conflicting premises, as it is for all too many people, this is bound to be reflected in governments full of politicians who share these same conflicting premises and scrambled thought patterns.

  25. Isn’t social progression in schools intended to do just that? Don’t think social progression is something demanded by the right. We use tutors when the teachers can’t.

  26. biffjr “What am I missing here?”
That the majority in the country is progressive.
Actually it’s amazing that conservatives are doing as well as we are after half a century of the MSM and academia being hijacking by progressives and considering we still don’t have a Fox with images to counter surge their polar bears choking in industrial smog.
We need to bring our military home to handle the Greek behaviour when we eventually get to the point of dismantling the entitlements to the CUPE “enemy within” that the private sector can no longer carry on their backs. Ian Davey and the whole Librano$ machine assume that anyone who thinks like this is illiterate and must not be encouraged by having our own media outlet.

  27. I understand a new word has been coined for folks like Mr.Davey. If you are both stupid AND an asshole that makes you an “ignoranus”.

  28. What are youse peeple’s talking about? I canst read,so can one of them leftie elitists upload something here I gin listen tooo???

  29. Are these insults effective? Canadian newspapers and magazines have been using variations of this theme since at least the Reform era. What happened? The evil knuckle-dragging Reformers ended up being the party in power, they generate more donations and are moving further into LPC turf. So, please let the progressives scream “Illiterate! Knuckle-dragger! Beer and Popcorn!” and whatever other nuanced insults they can think of. The US experience shows that it certainly hasn’t stopped the rise of Fox News. Hicks have this annoying and persistent habit of ignoring their social betters.

  30. I actually got annoyed reading a dictionary because of an obtuse example it used to attempt to illustrate a particular meaning.
Apparently I’m illiterate though, so I must have been wrong.

  31. So the elite are no longer ‘afraid’ of SunTV…they diss the readers too.
Apparently only TorStar and Cbc’ers vote, eh?
Beer and popcorn moment for sure…

  32. And yet the multitudes of entitled in Ont. and the Maritimes will still vote for these phony ass pantywastes. Boggles the mind really. Quebec has the BQ so as to appear to not vote liberal.

  33. After i had someone read it to me i was completely outraged.
I am considering sending a ‘letter’ with some stick figure picto-grams expressing my thoughts on the subject.

  34. Well said Dennis @ 1:41!! A big block of Canadians feel ‘entitled’ to a luxury life and they do not want to lift a finger to get that life. The sterling example, along with Quebec, is the Yukon Territory. The territory is rich in minerals, has 30,000 residents and is building a BIG cultural centre on the riverfrount and numerous old people’s housing units (luxury units); all this is free from all of you tax payers down south; as everyone either works for the gument or survives from spin offs from the gument. Yukon residents over 65 don’t pay for prescriptions, dentists, eyeglasses or housing (if they don’t have savings), if they do pay for housing they get huge grants to help pay taxes and heat bills. The Yukon produces nothing but greenies and land treaties. We have a huge HIV/AIDS infected population because the territory pays for their meds on your dime. The Yukon residents feel very smug about living ‘north of 60’! Did I mention that the Francaphonies have a huge budget and control much of the agenda.

  35. Ian Davey needs a time out with the MOM SONG…
proof that the nanny state will never work!!
    The Mom Song with lyrics
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CXgoJ0f5EsQ&feature=related
    Get up now
    Get up now
    Get up out of bed
    Wash your face
    Brush your teeth
    Comb your sleepy head
    Here’s your clothes
    And your shoes
    Hear the words I said
    Get up now
Get up and make your bed
    Are you hot?
    Are you cold?
    Are you wearing that?
Where’s your books and your lunch and your homework at?
Grab your coat and your gloves and your scarf and hat
Don’t forget you gotta feed the cat
    Eat your breakfast
The experts tell us it’s the most important meal of all
Take your vitamins so you will grow up one day to be big and tall
Please remember the orthodon’tist will be seeing you at three today?
Don’t forget your piano lesson is this afternoon
    So you must play
    Don’t shovel
    Chew slowly
    But hurry
    The bus is here
    Be careful
    Come back here
Did you wash behind your ears?
    Play outside
    Don’t play rough
    Would you just play fair?
    Be polite
    Make a friend
    Don’t forget to share
    Work it out
    Wait your turn
    Never take a dare
    Get along
Don’t make me come down there
    Clean your room
    Fold your clothes
    Put your stuff away
    Make your bed
    Do it now
    Do we have all day?
Were you born in a barn?
    Would you like some hay
Can you even hear a word I say?
    Answer the phone
    Get Off the phone
    Don’t sit so close
    Turn it down
    No texting at the table
    No more computer time tonight
Your iPod’s my iPod if you don’t listen up
Where you going and with whom and what time do you think you’re coming home?
Saying thank you, please, excuse me
Makes you welcome everywhere you roam
    You’ll appreciate my wisdom
Someday when you’re older and you’re grown
Can’t wait ’til you have a couple little children of your own
You’ll thank me for the counsel I gave you so willingly
    But right now
I thank you NOT to roll your eyes at me
Close your mouth when you chew
    Would appreciate
    Take a bite
    Maybe two
    Of the stuff you hate
    Use your fork
    Do not you burp
    Or I’ll set you straight
Eat the food I put upon your plate
Get an A, Get the door
    Don’t get smart with me
    Get a Grip
Get in here I’ll count to 3
    Get a job
    Get a life
    Get a PhD
    Get a dose of…
I don’t care who started it
    You’re grounded until your 36
    Get your story straight
And tell the truth for once for heaven’s sake
And if all your friends jumped off a cliff
    Would you jump too?
If I’ve said it once, I’ve said at least a thousand times before that
You’re too old to act this way
It must be your father’s DNA
Look at me when I am talking
Stand up straight when you walk
    A place for everything
And everything must be in place
Stop crying or I’ll give you something real to cry about
    Oh!
    Brush your teeth
    Wash your face
    Get your PJs on
    Get in bed
    Get a hug
    Say a prayer with Mom
    Don’t forget
    I love you
    **KISS**
And tomorrow we will do this all again because a mom’s work never ends
You don’t need the reason why
    Because
    Because
    Because
    Because
    I said so
    I said so
    I said so
    I said so
    I’m the Mom
    The mom
    The mom
    The mom
    The mom
    Ta-da
    Cheers

  36. “Yet the Liberals remain neck and neck with the Conservatives … according to the pollsters anyway. What am I missing here? Do that many people watch CBC and absorb the Liberal propaganda?”
Hopefully I’ve got the right guy, but KevinS will tell you that this is Ontario’s way of demonstrating how Conservative they are. Right Kevin?

  37. Gee, another contemptuous Liberal aparatchik. You ever wonder why government is such a nightmare to deal with, its because its filled with guys like that.

  38. tewchip said: “And yet the multitudes of entitled in Ont.”
Make that: “the multitudes of entitled in” TO.
    That’s better.

  39. tewchip’s ‘phony ass pantywastes‘ is somehow an even more apt description than he probably intended! :~D)

  40. re: Canadians still voting Liberal. Even now about one third of Russians would vote to return to communism. Go figure.
