The thatchy-browed Count vs. the toothless proles

Team Ignatieff (the Liberals) have released a mocking “Voluntary Conservative Census Form” that includes the questions “Are there any rooms in your house where you keep books? If so, why?”, “Have you ever had an independent thought? If so, please describe in details, and say where they/it occurred”, and “Would you agree that giving women the right to vote was a mistake?”
For those who might think that the party of those-who-deserve-to-rule might be mocking the Conservative Party, and not conservative voters, here’s a “senior Ignatieff official,” as quoted by Jane Taber:

“I don’t think they’ll reverse their decision (on the census). Once you throw a bone at Canada’s version of the Tea Party crowd it is hard to take it back.”

Let’s hope they keep it up. Every time our status-seeking, condescending, self-considered betters in the Bureaucrat Party insult millions of Canadians who refuse to acknowledge the Liberals’ innate superiority, they demonstrate precisely why so many voters, including former Liberal voters, have left these vaunted natural rulers parked by the curb.

  1. Soccermom: “and how much more would you like to pay?”
Nothing. Make the rich pay their fair share.

  2. Can anyone explain why this is even a story? The Long-form census? Seriously — Is there really nothing more interesting/entertaining, important going on in Ottawa right now.
Chinese spies pimping for BC pols? Prentice lauding provincial cap and tax schemes? Muslim moms and dads getting away with honour drownings?
And we waste time on a useless gov’t form. Kill the f’ing thing and move on.

  3. There was a caller to an Ottawa radio show last week that really exemplifies the LPC mindset.
The caller was literally frothing at the mouth about “redneck Conservatives and how they shouldn’t even be allowed to vote”….
Lieberals really believe they and only they should have the devine right to power, like some sort of bizarre, political blue blood.

  4. Actually I thought the census was kind of funny and pretty well done. What I find much more telling is the comment by a “Senior Liberal official”. He has basically admitted that the Liberal party has open contempt for everything the Tea Party stands for: smaller, less intrusive government; fiscal responsibility; liberty.

  5. The Lieberal penchant for excessive surveys started way back with the first Lieberal PM Alexander MacKenzie as a means of appearing to look busy and seem actually interested in building the CPR. It seems nothing much has changed in their playbook since then.

  6. Could it be said, that the a “senior Ignatieff official,” is calling at least 50% Canadians, dogs?

  7. I’m not upset. I like to look at the big picture. No leader. No money. No policies anyone wants. Bob Rae suffering from pre-mature speculation. No plan I know of. If the government doesn’t hire the students pushed out they have large debt, no job and unrealistic expectations.
I don’t feel sorry for them, they deserve it but somewhere along the line they have to consider a philosopher is a drain on society and an engineer is a benefit.

  8. The Glengarrian has his finger on what Liberals really believe.
I would be proud to wear the Tea Party label.
rose and Wicked Wasabi, those are great census questions for today’s Liberals.
Mark W, Prentice is still an AGW koolaid drinking idiot and I keep telling the CPC fundraiser not another dime until he wakes up.

  9. When you hear the term ‘Income Tax’ do you:
    a) think of tax
    b) think of income

  10. My, aren’t they clever?
In our riding our CPC campaign office in North Grenville (part of Leeds-Grenville) office used a huge bowl of popcorn with a “Bring your own beer” sign. The next election the Libs parachuted an ex-PMO gal in, who kicked off her campaign with a statement to the effect that she had always wanted to visit Belleville. Unfortunately she uttered her homey connection to the locals in Brockville. So, our office posted direction signs to Brockville and Belleville.

Most definitely, 20 Billion allocated for American made stealth fighters that Canada does not need and can’t afford. The census gafuffle was specifically manufactured to divert Canadians from the stealth fighter issue. It worked beautifully.
Our limited defense budget should be spent on coastal patrol boats and aircraft, both made in Canada to employ Canadians. My tax dollars shouldn’t be bailing out the American military aircraft industry.

Well, its Iggy’s wandering eyebrows..they leave his head at night when he is asleep to cause alarm and consternation to small children all across the world..

  16. People in Michigan have a chance to send President Obama a message August 3rd! http://mittromneycentral.com/2010/07/30/we-need-pete-hoekstra-as-michigans-next-governor-vote-august-3rd/
President Obama is trying to knock down Michigan’s best chance at finally having a conservative governor, but we can’t let Obama win! The stakes of this election are simply too high!
August 3rd is the most important day in Michigan politics in years! We need to do what we can to help make sure Michigan sends President Obama a message.

  17. So if they make the long form voluntary, I will double the population of Canada by reporting 32 million people living at my residence. They all get up at 0400 and go to work and they all speak Urdu.
Actually this is just the place next door.

  24. Do you think that offering a universial child care program to people living in major urban centers a good or bad policy?
    yes no
WW2, King, Do you think maintaining a policy on conscription that sees more Canadians die every day fighting against fascism and National Socialism more or less important than winning a majority government after the war? The answer is in that great Liberal Prime Minister’s journal.

What you missed was that despite the number of books you have, the two you mentioned clearly put you in the non-progressive column.
How dare you read a book wriiten by a Scottish (OMG) economist besides the Enlightentment never actually occured because we clearly have not “Progressed” to levels suitable for society in general.
As for the other book you mention, 39 of the 66 books were based upon the teachings of the dreaded Jooos, so we know it is based upon a series of falsehoods.
So to sum up, in typical progressive fashion, your over 298 readings are clearly outwieghed by the 2 described, much like the rest of us knuckle dragging, tea party neandrethals.

  26. Hey, we could ask Liberals what they books they have in their home:
    A) Harlequin romances
    B) Archie comics
    C) Hustler magazine
    D) Sociology textbooks you’ve never opened
    E) All of the above

  27. I’m just surprised by the Liberals use of “Tea Party” in any context, to be honest.
I did not know if the CBC or indeed any of the Canadian news networks have really spent much time investigating (I know, too much to expect) any of the Tea Party ideals beyond following and repeating the tired nonsensical rantings of MSNBC/ABC/CBS ‘news’ anchors (and I use the term lightly) that Tea Partiers are a group of neanderthalistic knuckle-dragging gun-toting racist KKK fanatics.
I doubt very greatly any of them would spend much time listening or reporting anything favourable, since the only response they have to any criticism of Obama is “RAAACCIIISST!!” – much like the US networks. It’s sad the Canadian network response parrots US coverage talking points (from Democrats) – I wonder if it’s ever been pointed out to them that they’re acting very..well..’American’. You’d think they’d choke on it.
Ah, well. As it’s been said here already – small government, liberty, fiscal restraint?
    Sign me up!

  28. This “Tea Party” comment by the “senior Iggynoramus official” is another example of how the entire Canadian left get all their instructions and their talking points from the American leftards. Same goes for the Toronto media. They are truly fixated on everything these people say and do. They worship the American politicians, media and celebrities with all the fawning submissive adulation that they can muster up.
They haven’t a single original though in their little minion minds.
It’s time we all changed their party name to the “Liberal Party of American Wannabes”

  29. Canada had a Tea Party, in London, ON, a couple of years back. I believe Kathy Shaidle was a featured speaker.

  30. Well like, history lesson folks. Let’s go back to the beginning:
“Then the LORD said to Moses, ‘when you take a census of the Israelites to count them, each one must pay the Lord a ransom for his life at the time he is counted. Then no plague when you number them. Each one who crosses over to those already counted is to give a half shekel, according to the sanctuary shekel, which weighs twenty gerahs. This half shekel is an offering to the LORD.” Exodus 30:11-16
Obvious proof of the need for jail time for refusal to consult a geneology website in order to complete the long form.
