And crippling America’s ability to fuel and feed herself – is there nothing that Obama can’t do?
Salazar to Gulf workers: Move to Egypt.
Federal Judge Martin Feldman in late June halted the Administration’s six-month deep water drilling moratorium, saying it was arbitrary, ignored science and underestimated the economic harm to the Gulf region. Last week the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals refused to reinstate the ban.
Mr. Salazar’s response is to fiddle with the ban’s details in the hope of passing judicial muster. Instead of banning all drilling deeper than 500 feet, he now bans all drilling by floating rigs (the only equipment that drills in deep water). He also set a firmer moratorium deadline of November 30. The bottom line is that deep water drilling remains off-limits for months to come.
Finance Overhaul Casts Long Shadow on the Plains
Far from Wall Street, President Barack Obama’s financial regulatory overhaul, which may pass Congress as early as Thursday, will leave tracks across the wide-open landscape of American industry.
Designed to fix problems that helped cause the financial crisis, the bill will touch storefront check cashiers, city governments, small manufacturers, home buyers and credit bureaus, attesting to the sweeping nature of the legislation, the broadest revamp of finance rules since the 1930s.
Here in Nebraska farm country, those in the business of bringing beef from hoof to mouth are anxious, specifically about the bill’s provisions that tighten rules governing derivatives. Some worry the coming curbs will make it riskier and pricier to do business.
In 2008 I wrote “The accounts of western governments (from the local to the federal) kneecapping the very infrastructure upon which modern metropolitan life depends – including reliable electricity, food production, and the transport of essential goods – are so routine now, one can hardly keep track.” But the pace at which this is escalating has surprised even me.
Related: Americans are noticing.
So they are essentially engineering their own extinction. Which is exactly what they have been brainwashing themselves into doing every time they talk about “unsustainable levels of population”. Goodbye big cities, with your constant outbreaks of socialist thoughts. I for one welcome our new Mennonite overlords.
Nations die from suicide, folks. Toynbee had it correct all along.
So just out of curiosity, does a moratorium on drilling by floating platforms stop BP from drilling the relief well that is supposed to fix the “Gulf crisis”? I wonder what the administration would do if BP just stopped drilling that well in accordance with the moratorium.
Not one for conspiracy theories…but just wondering how badly did Obama and co. want a major oil disaster?
Well Bluetech, conspiracy or not, I got yet another shiver down the spine when I first heard this AM that the Administration is putting BP on hold for turning the valves shut…I picked up this comment on the Planet Gore link which I think is just priceless:
“The NAACP has determined that since the oil is black, it has a right to be free and BP is racist!”
. . . and some Americans are still under the Obamassiah Rapture . . blaming the American people for Barry’s poor poll numbers . .

Wall street donations to Democrats are down, who’d a thunk it?
But the pace at which this is escalating has surprised even me.

I like what one of Beck’s guests (who authored a book about commie infiltration of the US government in the McCarthy era) said about today:
“There is an inadequacy of paranoia.”
Not a day passes without further confirmation that Nov 2008 was a non-violent commie coup, that the project is clearly the deliberate destruction of the US economy, the deliberate creation of another great depression in which, it is fondly believed, the Dem-socialists will attain hegemony for decades.
As others have pointed out on other threads: only about 8% of the regime has ANY private sector experience, and can therefore have no understanding of the deleterious impact of rules and regs. Or maybe they do?
Why have we not seen the ACOE (Army Corp of Engineers)?. A vast engineering resource at the fed’s finger tios aretwiddling their thumbs as this disaster rolls on. I’d have thought this Gulf disaster is ACoE meat and potatoes – guess not.
Does BO know they exist?
“We Jews are a sly and surreptitious people . It pains me to admit this, but candor compels. …[T]he best way to bring America to its knees, to weaken its will to survive, to cleverly turn it against itself, was to do everything in our considerable arsenal of means to deliver the White House to Barack Obama.”
— David Solway, Jewish educational theorist and critic, July 7, 2009.
One of the few things that government is effective at happens to be the one thing that Obama chooses to use it for. That is the destruction of wealth. President LB Johnson’s War on poverty only succeeded in destroying half of America’s black families while the War on Drugs has destroyed many more of all colours. The War on Terror won’t end until the pathology of Islam reforms and looses its Jihad bank roll from oil money (a partial effect from government (Nixon/Carter) playing God with the Environment) forcing its retrograde theocracies to struggle for their own survival. The war on prosperity, on the other hand is having great success under the current brilliant (just ask him) US President. Obama is truly an alien and misfit to the majority of Americans. Americans are learning the high cost of the effects of superficially motivated swing voters that Canadians lived through under their last similarly motivated charismatic leader.
Bluetech muses:
“Not one for conspiracy theories…but just wondering how badly did Obama and co. want a major oil disaster?”
In a Financial Times article today a former senior advisor to President Bill Clinton says that the only thing which can rescue Obama’s tenuous grip on power, as his approval figures continue to plunge, is a terror attack on the scale of Oklahoma City or 9/11. This is another startling reminder that such events only ever serve to benefit those manipulators in authority. Remember Emanuel’s classic gaffe about never letting a good crisis go the waste.
“The bottom line here is that Americans don’t believe in President Obama’s leadership,” said Shapiro, adding, “He has to find some way between now and November of demonstrating that he is a leader who can command confidence and, short of a 9/11 event or an Oklahoma City bombing, I can’t think of how he could do that.”
Belt line insiders seem to be intimating that Obama’s growing credibility crisis has raised DNC power broker’s fears that they could lose not only the White House but also the Senate. Robert Shapiro makes it clear that the Dems may be relying on some kind of October surprise crisis like a terror attack to rescue his presidency.
This is no conspiracy. This is the way DC power brokers think – wag the dog political black arts.
Remember the New Year’s underpants bomber farce and the stalled mandated sales of scanners bill passing unhindered after that?
We have to re-evaluate what was dismissed as “conspiracy” theory by the corrupt partisan MSM
Sometimes I think Alex Jones is coocoo with his conspiracy theories but more and more he proves himself right and/or he has yet to be proven wrong by others…
Again the bottom line is that there is simply way too much Government on Earth. Alex Jones says multi national corporations and banks run the show but it’s only because corrupt governments enables them.
Slash the Government down to size and you turn away the toxic influences.
Well ODR, “The bottom line here is that Americans don’t believe in President Obama’s leadership,” said Shapiro, adding, “He has to find some way between now and November of demonstrating that he is a leader who can command confidence and, short of a 9/11 event or an Oklahoma City bombing, I can’t think of how he could do that.”
You know, you could almost come to the conclusion this was code-speaking from the Liberal Left to the Islamic Terrorist Savages that now is the time to attack.
,
I am currently in central Pennsylvania, and my
wife and I watch Fox News with morbid curiosity.
It is like a 1000-car pileup seen in slow motion.
The extent to which even Fox can’t see what is
happening (let alone the quite conservative Americans
that we know personally) is striking.
And they are hypnotised by the American
political process – yee Gods,
there is talk already of the 2012 elections – there is much too much
concentration, even by the most sensible, on elections rather than on government.
So John, what is your opinion of MSNBC, or CNN ?
Just curious.
“that the only thing which can rescue Obama’s tenuous grip on power, as his approval figures continue to plunge, is a terror attack on the scale of Oklahoma City or 9/11.”
This is simply how Progressives thing.
I read this in the Globe & Mail page A3 by J.Ibbitson: “Mr. Ignatieff needs a crisis that promotes his party’s modestly progressive values and shows up the Conservatives as cruel and incompetent. A major oil spill would be nice.”

Here is a story that mentions a billionaire who bought a place with eighteen miles on the Quebec border(Gotta be Maine) so he and his wife can bug out if they have to. Do me a favor guys, when this guy comes across the border abandoning the country that made him a billionaire, well, think if you want him in your country is all I’m saying.
Apropos of the USA becoming increasingly hostile to business, I give you an article in Fine Woodworking Magazine this month.
There are -few- mags in which politics receive less coverage, but into this hobbyist sawdust mecca came news of a $1.5 million dollar jury award to some IMBECILE who cut his hand up in a table saw, against the manufacturer, because the saw which caused the injury was not equipped with “flesh sensing technology”. AKA it was not a SawStop table saw. http://www.sawstop.com
As of this judgment, if it stands on appeal no manufacturer of tools which cut -anything- will be safe from legal looting.
Of the two issues, I think that while the oil spill is causing more short term damage, this looting of private companies is far more destructive of the USA long-term.
Alinsky no doubt finds this gratifying.
They are saying that the relief wells will be ready to shut off the flow from the blown out well some time in August. I don’t think that is going to happen. My prediction is that they will will draw off the oil to pay the $20 billion. At 60,000 barrels a day this is a big well. Why would they just shut it down when it could pay off the bill in about ten years.
But the pace at which this is escalating has surprised even me.

Reagan was the last true American President. He made mistakes but he held his Countrymen in esteem. The rest sneer or are malevolent to their own people. The rest have been Global citizens, meaning part of the
self styled World Leaders. Not of America. Until Obama though, most still had some residue of Patriotism.
