Meanwhile, The Whereabouts Of Punch Sultzberger Remains Widely Known

Now they get sensitive…

Pentagon investigators are trying to track down Julian Assange, the elusive Australian-born founder of WikiLeaks, who they believe is preparing to publish several years of State Department cables allegedly passed by the 22- year-old Manning, now being detained in Kuwait. The cables contain “information related to American diplomatic and intelligence efforts in the war zones in Afghanistan and Iraq,” and they could do “serious damage to national security” if made public…

  1. “information related to American diplomatic and intelligence efforts in the war zones of Afghanistan and Iraq”

    Ah Yes..
The old “information and intelligence” ploy..
Which ballot boxes should we stuff
    and purple fingers need painting?
Or could it be the desired domination of a small but large oil outputting Mideastern nation that we have taken/ given their own sovereignty.
Inquiring minds will soon find out.

  2. Run Julian Run!
No wait… you mean it’s *not* patriotic to leak state secrets anymore ? Or it is now ? I’m so confused…

  3. Yeah – I don’t pay attention to WikiLeaks. If the
info is important and damaging to the US it will
    be leaked by the NYT.

  4. The New Yorker ran a piece on Assange a few weeks back. The way they described his existence – living out of a suitcase, staying at friends and colleagues for a few nights only, keeping his Wikileaks network widely dispersed and hidden as much as possible – you might think he’s paranoid.
Then again, someone might really be out to get him.

  5. Saw Assange on Colbert when the leaked video was in the news, if there is anyone who fits the definition/description of a fellow traveler, its him.

  6. How can you “do damage” to the security of a nation that allows 300 illegal aliens a month to cross its southern border and nest in the US heartland where the administration courts their vote by promising them free green cards.
Any concern for national security while this migrant invasion ensues unabated, is just so much feigned bluster.

  7. Danny Boy was Pinch’s mole at the Pentagon.
Danny has dumped O; well, almost.
    But, Danny says, O = B.
A Look into the NYT’s mirror.
    …-
    “Left-Wing Icon Daniel Ellsberg
    ‘Obama Deceives the Public’
Daniel Ellsberg, legendary leaker of the “Pentagon Papers” in 1971, still has a bone to pick with the White House. In an interview with SPIEGEL ONLINE, the 79-year-old peace activist accuses President Obama of betraying his election promises — in Iraq, in Afghanistan and on civil liberties.
SPIEGEL ONLINE: Mr. Ellsberg, you’re a hero and an icon of the left. But we hear you’re not too happy with President Obama anymore.
Daniel Ellsberg: I voted for him and I will probably vote for him again, as opposed to the Republicans. But I believe his administration in some key aspects is nothing other than the third term of the Bush administration.
    SPIEGEL ONLINE: How so?”

  8. Bill, 300 illegal aliens a month? Try 300 every five or so hours, maybe. They find about a hundred dried up corpses every month down in Arizona, during the summer.
Its not really an invasion, its more of a parade. A procession, if you like.

  9. Could someone explain what a “cable” is in the context of this story? Frankly, I am baffled. As far as I knew, a cable was a unit of length, something to connect two things like a rope or chain, or as in a network cable used to connect networks/computers. I’ve not yet been able to find a satisfactory explanation/description in a dictionary, or anywhere yet.
Incidentally, I have not yet found its usage explained in any article I’ve seen in the MSM yet. This makes me wonder if …
    A) I am just dumb and ought to know the language better (possible).
    B) No one writing the stories for the MSM knows either.

  10. @Calclus, how old are you? Maybe that’s the problem, cable is an old time reference to a transmission by morse code sent by wire on poles, or via the cables under the ocean. Just an old fashioned way of saying messages.

  11. “cable” = telegram = telex = email = electronic message of some description.
Just means some really -old- dinosaur wrote it. Probably some geezer old enough to remember the original Pentagon Papers.
As usual, its only patriotic to reveal Pentagon documents when a Republican is in power. Or when your name is Sultzburger.

  12. Thanks for clearing up the meaning of ‘cable’ for me. I really appreciate it.
(Al, I’ll be 35 this year.)
