Could it be that… gasp… those areas are usually covered in ice and therefore should be marked as “land” instead of sea due to having solid surfaces? Wow, amazing how actually reading something changes the whole way you interpret it. Including those areas and their readings as sea surface temperatures would cause quite a few anomalies when tracking temperature changes as water flows through the world’s oceans. If anything this would make GISS’s findings MORE reliable.

I guess they have to do it that way because its hard to site an ocean temp sensor on the sunny side of a black asphalt parking lot, next to the AC vent and the barbecue.
But then I’m a RADICAL CLIMATE CHANGE DENIER, what do I know? Surely honorable people of good will can have a rational discussion about these things! What’s a little data deletion in the grand scheme of things, right?
And if the graphs presented extolling this bunk are to be believed, all acurate to within 0.2 deg C!
Today’s AGW manipulation expose reminds me that I meant to comment, but didn’t, on another space picture comparison on SDA sometime last week showing ice melt in the Arctic Ocean. The info failed to date each of the two comparisons. Like, could it be that one space shot was from a February and the other – showing increased melt – was from, say, August? This is something that I noticed in comparison pictures of the Arctic a couple of years ago when the AlGorgesHimselfTooMuch was at the height of his scare school children tactics. Just an observation, my friends.
The computer is the boss. But..but..it let me do it so it must be good. Chromatographs told me a lot. The MS-MS data now, even though I ‘get it” it is still a straight line on a piece of paper to me. No ‘feel’ to it.
And, if I might add another observation — this whole deceptive business is based upon the coner stone of Progressive (communist) doctrine: That the Ends justify the Means. In other words, Bullsh*t baffles Brains. Now, those of we SDA brains must figure out and bright to light exactly what the Ends are, that Science would engage in such disreputable behaviour. Who can trust them ever again on anything at all?
The defense of the AGW in all of these cases is that the extrapolation, replacement, deletion, adjustment can be justified using statistics and modeling. Fair enough. What happens though is that every bias is on one side (more warming) and the +/- becomes increasingly skewed to the + side. The actual change in global average temperature is relatively small so if you added up all of these adjustments, how much of the warming is due to the one-sided bias of various “corrections” – poor siting of stations, UHI, land use, blending, temperature station culls, computer modeling, tree rings, hockey sticks… ?

All of it.
The temperature “increase” that was measured was entirely due to the UHI effect as a audit of the sightings of surface stations shows.
They were never measuring a trend in the rise of global temperature.
They were measuring the trend toward urban sprawl.
“sightings” above should be sitings, even though the sites had to be indivdually sighted and then cited for being sited badly in an audit of the sites.

Bottom line:
The “uptick” in temperature can be explained entirely by UHIs.
Dr Christy of U of A Huntsville pointed out at his presentation in Calgary that there is, in addition to the urban heat island effect, a lessening in the nocturnal cold sink in developed areas thereby resulting in higher night time temperatures at the surface, but cooler temperatures at altitude. These of course tend to skew temperature data upward as most stations are surface monitoring.
