Hockey almost over

Finally, this monstrosity called the Stanley Cup Playoffs are almost over.
For crying out loud, CFL training camps open in two weeks.
And because training camp means back to surfing the fan sites, shamelessly stolen from Riderfans.com:

  1. Arrrrrrrrr-goessssssssssssss!
Hawks 5, Flyers 5, end of 2. Last goal wins.

  2. Certainly…but we aren’t engaged. We’ve been married for two years now and most of the blog world knew that.

  3. Shylock
You are starting to sound like Joe McGinniss.
I apologize now for playing along with this clown on previous threads.
Things must be slow over at snark central.

  4. or, for those of you that follow Pro Football… and the holder of the only perfect season in CFL history…

Hey would you look at that! it appears the Rider Nation will be visiting Cow Town only 22? days from now, Hope the snow’s melted by then…

  5. Oh, if you like this sort of thing, there’s the protracted CSI: Miami David Caruso sunglasses on/sunglasses off, cheesy one-liner and step out of frame montage!
    (Ya gotta have a montage!)

  6. Crap like this and the intentional killing of the readers tips thread are killing this place.

  7. Engaged? Married for two years? Oh, oh, looks like some of us were had. Who started this anyway?
    Go Riders.

  8. I’m with Ken…that is great news to me!
    Cool!
Ken…I guess we missed that post!! 😉

  9. Wow they still play hockey? I haven’t watched hockey since the Canadiens played the Soviets to a 2 – 2 draw back in the late seventies. Having seen the best played hockey game in history all the rest is akin to watching a bunch of ham fisted farm boys playing pond hockey in the dark.

  10. I wish they would go back to the best of 3 or best of 5 during the playoffs until you have the finals. Or cut the season down to 50 games.

  11. It was 3-3, not 2-2.
Late 70’s ? No, also wrong. It was new Year’s Eve, 1975.
Also, hockey is much better now.
Watch a game or 2, or don’t bother to comment about something you know nothing about.

  12. Interesting; according to my spouse they (NHL) decided to start calling penalties for running the opponent’s goalie: now that the Canadian teams are gone. Or am I just a spoil sport?

  13. Sort of a mean spirited attempt at humor. Can’t you find it in your heart to have a little compassion for a guy who had to look everyone in the navel, his whole life? He made a lot of people laugh.
One thing I’ve always noticed about prairie people is their cruel streak. I have a theory, it’s from torturing gophers, at an early age. They say most serial killers got their start torturing animals. It might also be the result of looking at all this ugliness. Sometimes, when I head out to work, I look at all this brown, ugly land, and just want to hurt something.
Time to move. I never planned to stay this long, but the boom and bust cycle didn’t co-operate. I’m heading so far into the bush, I’ll have to come out to hunt. If I see a trouble making invader, I’ll make him disappear, like magic.

  14. dp,
I have no idea which province you’re looking at, but it isn’t, er, my Saskatchewan. I’ll leave it at that because you seem mildly disturbed.

  15. dp – it’s a lame pun. It’s got nothing to do with denigrating Gary Coleman or lacking compassion for him. If you want to be offended, be offended on behalf of David Caruso, who actually is being mocked (and rightly so).

  16. I don’t watch CSI Miami because of David Caruso. I may be completely wrong about him but he seems like an arrogant conceited jerk. Of course I should feel sorry for him I suppose, the poor fellow seems to be so weak that he can’t remove or put on his sunglasses without using both hands.

  17. One of David Carusos earliest acting appearances was as a sheriffs deputy in the original (Rambo) with Stalone.
He played a wimpy character, but a good guy none the less.
Its taken 20 years for Caruso to shed that wimpy type-cast image, and yet he still can’t really present himself as the tough guy.
The Clint routine doesn’t work for him!

  18. Worse actor ever! Makes David Schwimmer look good. No wait no one can make David look good.

  19. ‘Agreed, Black Mamba, it’s funny in the context of word play, a pun, if you’re into puns. It in no way puts down or makes fun of Gary Coleman’s untimely death.
Only certain people appreciate black humour. I’m one of them.

  20. On CJOB in Wpg, the host after Adler announced Coleman’s death, and then they played the theme song of the show, seems the irony was lost on the host.
Have the sound clip of the Who song on my phone, use it to do a Caruso with my sunglasses at inappropriate times, which is anytime at all.

  21. Always enjoyed the ironic,iconic,etcs,..Made me search out new musical adventures…I am fairly new to this site, but always thought youre contries, entertaining. Thank you.

  22. One thing you can say about Coleman. He never gave up working. He was not adverse to mocking himself.
After what his parents did to him, including “friends”. Is it any wonder he was angry?
Through it all he never stopped trying,
    no matter the handicap.
Thats a fine legacy to my mind.

  23. I personally love the Caruso zinger, his “acting” has always been a source of laughter to me. His big shot attitude is all the more laughable after he figured he was too good for TV and tried the silver screen.
Pity about Gary Coleman although, if the truth be said, starring in Different Strokes didn’t do any of those child actors any favours.
As a long time regular I had no idea about the Lance and Kate thing. Or what “it” is, but then it isn’t really anyone’s business I guess. Mind you if someone starts asking about renting a neighbour’s place, watch out and start the fence. I imagine there are a few heartbroken bloggers out there now.
