  3. The Obama gang are talking, now, that it is ‘almost certain’ that there will be a terrorist attack on US soil in the next 6 months.
    This is a strange thing to say. IF they have the intelligence data about this, then, what are they doing about it?
    Or is it the case that – as I claim – Obama has provoked further terrorist attacks by his denial of the reality of terrorism with his ‘isolate extremist’, his ‘overseas contingency’, his ‘man-caused disasters’, his civil trials. He has denied their existence and they intend to prove to him that they do actually exist.
    Is the Obama gang trying to prepare Americans for such an attack so that – rather than Americans blaming Obama for not keeping America safe – he can say – ‘well, we warned you of an attack’.

    In court filings for a libel suit, Mr. Warman calls Mr. Levant’s conduct toward him “obsessive,” states he “has no respect for authority,” and says it is “surprising” he is a member in good standing of the Law Society of Alberta.

  14. SDH – this is exactly what I’ve been telling my friends for a while. The colonization of North America didn’t occur because British males of one child families said – Well, I’m 16, time to go explore the world”.
    The lack of birth control in the late 19th century, combined with decreased infant mortality and stable food supplies produced an excess population, which was periodically culled through wars, or exported abroad to the colonies to survive or perish there. There was nothing there for the young male at home.

  16. National Post, Monday, Feb. 8. Letter, Tony Clement, federal industry minister.
    “This Conservative government is focused on having Canada lead the way in many industrial sectors.”
    That’s socialist talk, of course. First, Canada does not need to “lead the way”. The purpose of individual businesses and industries – not “sectors” – is to produce goods and services that consumers want or need. There is nothing government can do to help them in this. Every government intrusion has to be paid for out of taxes, which are taken from the consumers and the businesses first, and the whole thing distorts the economy and lowers the standard of living.
    Also, I’ve seen TV ads about “Canada’s economic action plan”. Only socialist governments have economic action plans.
    And today I saw an Ontario ad that claimed red ink could be averted through the province’s tax credits and incentives, and business support programs. Again, tax credits and incentives should be removed and the tax system streamlined, and the subsidies abolished a.s.a.p. for maximum economic benefits.

    The Ontario government is going to top up Nortel pensions to the tune of $1,000 per month per person. The Star says the Liberals have been accused of trying to buy a by-election in Ottawa through this move.
    Who pays for this? Everybody else. And how many non-Nortel pensioners get it?
    Robbing Peter to pay Paul is socially divisive and economically destructive.

    That’s probably because the current crop of CEOs and government leaders started their careers in the era before all that diversity arrived. Duh. Grow up, Star.

    I’ve often said that the post WWII generation is the first one without a genuine frontier to face. And with China’s one child policy, and India’s aversion to female children, we’re going to have an enormous surfeit of frustrated young men within a decade.
    Either the pressure cooker builds up on earth, and we do, through some kind of annihilation, meet the greenie population goal of another thread, or we develop the technology that gets us up and out. (Saturn rockets are not the answer; too big, too expensive, too small a payload. )

    Guess we can hope it will not be a refinery.
    You can bet Exxon, Chevron and ‘ the boys’ will bump prices to where filling the SUV could bring on a headache.
    No new refinery since the 80s and with EVs,flex fuel and fuel cells on the horizon, they aint gonna sink 8 to 12 Billion$ for any new oil crackin’ field full of pipes.
    Odd, isn’t it; how there is no alternate way to get around if gasoline is held for police and military use only?
    Kinda like the results of LOBBY POWER.

And this is the power the Chicago crew have over them, which they are apparently not shy about exercising.
    But if the Windy City boys have overplayed their hand then I think we’ll see a lot more enterprise on the part of the MSM. The article suggests there’s a whole lot more discontent and disillusionment there than is evident at first glance. And once the dam breaks, well it’s a long way back to Chicago.”

    That was a remarkable speech Maxime Bernier delivered the other day in Calgary. That is, it was an entirely unremarkable speech, the kind you would hear every other day in any normal democracy: a fairly pedestrian restatement of conservative principles by a leading conservative politician.
    But in the Conservative Party of Canada, in its present moribund state, it counts as Luther’s 95 Theses. It must surely rule out any return to cabinet, if it does not lead to his outright expulsion from caucus, since it contradicts every line of current Conservative — well, I was going to say “policy,” but that’s not quite right, is it? Policy, after all, tends to proceed from some sort of underlying ideas or philosophy, and as we know today’s Conservatives have worked very hard to expunge those from their thoughts. Say “positioning,” then.
    But back to Bernier. Consider, in particular, this passage:
    “One way to change the terms of the debate would be to announce that the government is not going to grow any more.”
    Smaller government?? What party does this guy belong to? Surely not the gang that increased spending by nearly 40% in four years? I can hear the opposition parties already: Does the PM believe in Zero Budget Growth? When will he repudiate these remarks?
    UPDATE: And what’s this? Pierre Poilievre calling it a “brilliant speech”? So: the last four years, then. They’ve just been a bad dream?”
    Yes faux-Cons – a meaningless red meat speech for the idiots. Get out your chequebook, a funding drive is coming.

    As for Tesla ‘admitting’ a rough road to profits with EVs. What did you expect with breaking new ground in the auto markets? Sheesh!
    32 other brands like Nissan Leaf and Honda Insight will be profitable right from the start.
    The boys at Tesla come from Google and Apple so money is not a problem. Setting a new direction is. Especially with many like you who are terrorized by something new.
    Tesla will realize profits with their family sedan eventually. They have the deep pockets to see it through.
