For what it’s worth, the 6 liberal leadership candidates reeived another extension for their loans. This is part of a letter I received on this subject from Elections Canada;—- “At the expiration of the December 31, 2009 deadline, the leadership contestants applied to a judge of the Ontario Superior Court of Justice to obtain a further authorization to make late payments. Justice Kane of that Court issued a judgement granting the request for an extension until December 31, 2011. As such, the outstanding amounts of the loans continue to fall under on of the exceptions to the requirement to pay leadership loans within 18 months of the end of the contest.” —– Their original 18 month deadline to pay back has been now extended twice to a 54 month deadline. Details at 6 on any newscast.Sure.

THE UNRELIABLE
Employer told not to post advert for ‘reliable’ workers because it discriminates against ‘unreliable’ applicants
When it comes to hiring staff, there are plenty of legal pitfalls employers need to watch out for these days.
So recruitment agency boss Nicole Mamo was especially careful to ensure her advert for hospital workers did not offend on grounds of race, age or sexual orientation.
However, she hadn’t reckoned on discriminating against a wholly different section of the community – the completely useless.

Anthropogenic Global Warming, history’s biggest scam
Climategate Professor Phil Jones could face ten years on fraud charges”
“The forms of fraud directly relating to Phil Jones are:
Fraud by false representation (section 2)
A fraudulent representation is an assertion which is untrue or misleading and which the person making it knows is, or might be, untrue or misleading. ( s2(2) ).Subsection (4) provides that a representation may be express or implied. There are no restrictions or limitations in the way in which a representation is communicated. It may be written or spoken and may be transmitted by email or by way of website.
Fraud by failing to disclose information (section 3)
This form of the offense applies where a person dishonestly fails to disclose to another person information that he is under a legal duty to disclose. The ICO admits Jones is guilty of failing to disclose climate data. The question whether a legal duty exists is a matter of the general law. A legal duty may arise by virtue of a fiduciary relationship between the parties (fiduciary duty is a legal or ethical relationship of confidence or trust between two or more parties).”

I try to ignore the remarks of the political out of touch. However one has to recognize who the polling companys are. My experience with polls is the result is the result of the answer wanted. The question posed determines the response. I truly do not have much confidence in the polling companies listed. The only accurate poll determination is one which lists the questions; the sequence of questions and which are the confirming questions to establish a bias which will affect the response. A poll conducted within the Toronto Star’s readership parameters will also be a measure of accuracy as would a poll in the city of Calgary; therefore the characteristics of the polling geography is also necessary. Ignore all polls which do not have the integrity to show all of this supporting information. Cheers;

“Swiss jets form wingtip ‘honour guard’ to escort Harper plane out of airspace
ZURICH, Switzerland – Two Swiss fighter jets escorted Prime Minister Stephen Harper’s plane out of Switzerland’s air space on Friday – but not because there was any risk of danger.
The fighter jets materialized suddenly out of the clouds about half an hour after the prime minister’s Airbus 340 took off from Zurich.
The jets manoeuvred close on either side of the plane, about 30 metres from its wingtips. They flew with the Airbus for a few minutes before zooming off again into the grey sky.”
“The honour guard escort is rarely deployed, and is considered a heartfelt sign of close ties between Switzerland and Canada, the spokesman said.
The jets were fully armed, carrying large air-to-air missiles on their wings.”

“Canada’s economy grows more than expected
Canada’s economy grew more than expected in November, led by the wholesale trade and oil and mining sectors, Statistics Canada reported Friday.
Gross domestic product rose 0.4% during the month, the third consecutive monthly increase, the federal agency said. “As was the case in September and October, most major industrial sectors increased their production,” it said.
“Mining and oil and gas extraction, and wholesale trade accounted for about 60% of the overall growth,” the agency said. Goods-producing industries were up 0.6%, while the services sector increased 0.4%.
Economists had expected growth of between 0.1 and 0.3% in November.”

As expressed by a number of people here, I have been disappointed by Harper in the past year.
Though there were other signs, the key moment for me was when he threw the Libertarians out of the tent.
http://westernstandard.blogs.com/shotgun/2009/03/stephen-harper-to-libertarians-youre-naive-and-you-dont-believe-in-personal-responsibility.html
I never understood the need for this. Some of the most passionate CPC supporters I knew were Libertarians at heart.
There is no longer a political voice for those who truly wish to shrink government control of our lives.
Texas Canuck: “Driving home I heard a bit about PM Harper’s speech in Switzerland last night on CBC radio. The point that he told the G-20 to get their act together was barely mentioned.”
Where I think CBC is missing the boat is in not realizing that Canadians really like to shine on the world stage. Realistic or not, it makes everyone feel good. The constant Harper bashing and ignoring the positives takes a toll on the National psyche, I think. Same with the Afghanistan detainee issue — who feels good about this? Why would I want a national radio station that makes me feel bad all the time. Actually, that’s one reason I don’t listen to CBC anymore — any time I turn it on it is just one grim story after another.
Re: the scare tactics of Osama bin Laden, and his latest message.
First, al-Qaeda flew planes into buildings. That didn’t work.
Now they’re flogging global warming. That won’t work either.
Next step: bin Laden and Ayman al-Zawahri try to take over the world with a club that has a nail in it.
