  1. Notice how the left, those promoters of global ‘getting along’, are always incredibly violent and vicious in their attacks on anyone and anything.
Copenhagen police arrested about 1,000 violent protesters who were smashing windows and throwing bricks. Why smash some storekeeper’s window? Why?
For comparison, the massive Tea Party demonstrations in the US – not a whisper of violence. And no tons of litter either.

  2. If you would like another look at the Climate Change gabfest I would suggest taking a look through some of the Danish newspapers. I was looking for articles pertaining to the great ’embarrassment’ that Canada has become on the world stage, but could not find any.Hmmm. But I did find some other interesting items. http://www.cphpost.dk/climate/91-climate/47679-christmas-trees-banned-for-climate-summit.html === http://www.cphpost.dk/climate/91-climate/47681-drowning-to-fight-climate-change.html === And this one,my favourite,===http://www.cphpost.dk/climate/91-climate/47391-violent-climate-pandas-not-welcome-at-cop15.html

  3. Has anyone seen folks with black banners mixed in with the protesters at Copenhagen, or is it just the eco-wingnuts?

  4. Just read the list of Canadian delegates to Hopenhagen.
I imagine that our governments (both federal and provincial) will eliminate all the positions with “climate change” in their titles, now that it has been proven to be a fraud, and dismiss all the impacted bureaucrats, of which there are many – far, far too many.
    Not.

  5. Wally, thanks for those articles. It occurs to me that a Psychologists and/or Psychiatrists Association should have set up a parallel conference next door. They would have made a killing in billing fees, even for just a few days of “work”.
While we’re on the topic of wingnuts, take a look a this piece of nonsense: http://www.nowtoronto.com/news/story.cfm?content=172812
Thankfully some intelligent folks decided to shove the author’s words up his tuchus!

  6. The ‘Big Oil’ Thingy!
Al Gore and many green organisations regularly shout-down unbelievers in their nonsense, by saying they have no credibility because they are funded by ‘Big Oil’
You might be surprised to learn that greens are also funded by the same ‘Big Oil’
CRU – Funded by Big Oil and NIREX Ltd, a Nuclear Installations Inspectorate. BP, several British government pro-green departments interested in taking money off voters, the infamously fascist EU, Greenpeace, the very biased Royal Society, Shell, the US Department of Energy and the US EPA (which shows their complicity in fraud), and the equally infamous WWF, are amongst funders of CRU.
David Suzuki Foundation corporate donors include EnCana Corporation, a world leader in natural gas production and oil sands development, and ATCO Gas, Alberta’s principle distributor of natural gas, and OPG which is one of the largest suppliers of electricity in the world operating 5 fossil fuel-burning generation plants and 3 nuclear plants. Tom Brodbeck of Sun Media says on the same issue that “when Suzuki criticizes other scientists for allegedly being funded by oil companies, when he himself receives funding from a natural gas distributor, I think it’s a bit hypocritical. 7. There has been much commentary in the press across Canada regarding the Firearms Registry since Bill C-301 Passed 2nd Reading. Of course the supporters argue that it and any Gun Control does much to make Canada a safer place. I thought it would be productive to present a study by a couple of university Professors that appeared in the Harvard Journal of Law and Public Policy.
http://www.law.harvard.edu/students/orgs/jlpp/Vol30_No2_KatesMauseronline.pdf While critics of the Study complain that it does not show “Causation” between Gun Ownership rates and crime it clearly shows that Correlation is the opposite of what the Gun Controllers would wish.

  8. Look at this piece of EuroTrash.
I’m reminded of EBD’s brilliant & insightful comment from yesterday:
Late last year, on an SDA thread about Elizabeth May, commenter batb observed – aptly – that Elizabeth May is the manifest corporeal fallout from a generation of people who have been told from a very early age that they’re very, very special people:
“I think it’s the ‘only child’ syndrome.’ You know the kind of kid? No matter what s/he does, Mom and Dad ooh and ahh and say “oh, how cute, how smart, how simply sensational’ – and all s/he did was walk toward the camera with a tooffy grin and say ‘Boo!'”
You can see the product of that sort of inverted child-abuse in people like Anna Keenan and Sara Svenson: “Hello everyone. My name is Sara Svenson and I am from Sweden. Today is my 33rd day of climate justice fast. For over a month I have been eating nothing and drinking only water. It has certainly not been easy. I get colder than usual, my physical strength is weaker, and every day requires a lot of self-discipline to keep going. On the other hand, the fast is also empowering…”
How fantastically special. I, me, mine, I, me, I am, my day requires, I exist to save the world and all its delightful creatures, etc. The sad thing is that even though the sincerity is undeniable they are corporeally manifesting an awful misdirection of the best of human nature to the point where it’s a threat to everyone who’s *not them.* It’s the Global Army of Too-Too Specialness who’ve been goaded on by a dumb, lying, propagandistic media.
The global rewrite these people propose is really and truly about *them* and not, as they suggest, the *planet.* Ughh. The level of conceit is staggering. These women don’t have the first hint of an understanding of the extent to which their tickety-boo *specialness* stops and starts with themselves; they’re the product of something like child-abuse, in some inverted, western, privileged sense. Their privileged upbringing has lead these self-obsessed busybodies to thrill themselves – sincerely and ingenuously – with their own *specialness* in the – demanded – name of the planet earth.
Anna Keenan too – “together with six others around the world, myself and…” – perfectly exemplifies that sad misdirection. You can tell she’s sincere, and that she has, without any doubt, the best intentions. But this loudly-announced quietness and humility is, in the additive sense, *megalomania*; it’s an un-reality-checked intention – and sense of privilege – to rewrite the world in the name of their own specialness.

  9. How much litter did the Copenhagen climate protesters leave?
You’d think that people who cared about a nice green and pleasant planet wouldn’t leave any, wouldn’t you?

  10. Choice video, Robert (1:58 am). The planet-saving conceit of the too-too crowd is perfectly exemplified by that young, gentle, well-intentioned meat-puppet. He’s the public face of this very real problem: while it’s widely understood that, among the young and, erm, special, idealism tends to supplant reality and factual information, it’s far less understood that this green-stem force is being used cynically by colossal, internationalist rent-seekers who have attached themselves like remora, with full strategic awareness, onto this putatively life-giving force. In Canada the federal Liberals and their propaganda arms like the CBC have known this for years, but this kind of strategic thinking has metastasized and now has global reach.
It’s a serious problem, inasmuch as for an average person who sees such earnestness as the fellow in your video exhibits it’s almost impossible not to experience something like cognitive dissonance. It’s not that anyone who’s even partially aware of the fraudulence of the “science,” and of the sources that have indoctrinated the young fellow, could ever be convinced by what he says; rather, the problem is that it’s almost impossible to feel any real *threat*” coming from such a gentle and very, very special and – absolutely and indisputably – well-intentioned young fellow. That immeasurable gulf, between the well-intentioned, vaguely effete, and *harmless* mannerisms of such gentle, massively-indoctrinated young people, and the very real *threat* comprised by the aggregate and far more cynical forces who *use* such people, gives endless wiggle room to a lot of truly dangerous forces.
Sometimes I feel like the only reasonable conclusion is an unreasonable, impossible one: we need to start over, thirty years ago, and change what our “young people” in the west have been taught.
Or, variously, we could swallow our losses and begin the long march in the present tense, as Kate has been doing so tenaciously. Speaking of which….

  14. Thanks, Robert W. for the link to the asinine article in NOW magazine, one of Toronto’s finest … /sarc off
It’s a FREE magazine you can pick up on every corner or at Starbucks, Second Cup, etc.. I wonder who bankrolls it? I wonder how much CO2 is pumped into the atmosphere in the production of this rag?
These enviro-bullies are such ignorant, brainwashed hypocrites. ‘Good comments, though. The ‘unwashed’ public is catching on and pushing back.
I’m doing my bit, too! ‘Had a great conversation with an employee in the LCBO (aka liquor store) yesterday. I outlined the scam, loudly, so other customers could hear, and she totally agreed with me. The message is getting out — that Al Gore and David Suzuki are shysters who’ve been getting rich quick, living lifestyles of the rich and famous, behind the beard of compassion and concern for our benighted planet.

  16. Fritz, that’s a great video of Lord Monckton demolishing the Greenpeace supporter. I love the point where after he has given her all the evidence against global warming she says “I think we’re talking a different planet.”

  17. The Rasmussen presidential index puts Obama at MINUS 19 today. That’s his lowest. Quite the change from his original PLUS 28.
He’s lost the Independents and he’s losing now among the Democrats. I wonder what the BackRoom Gang will do to shore him up so that they don’t lose Congress in 2010?

  19. wallyj @1:26, I started to watch it and had to go upchuck, then returned later to watch the 35th rerun of the Lame Stream Media torture love-in, upchucked again and went back to Fox.

  20. If you don’t think Quebeckers care out about culture, check out the ‘national’ funeral held for Gilles Carle the filmmaker last weekend in Montreal. All the politicians were there.
I have to say rather than Maria Chapdelaine, Les Plouffes or La Mort d’un Bucheron, I loved his comedy Les Mâles about two lonely guys in the Quebec bush who decide to kidnap a woman – mayhem ensues.
Who is the English-Canadian equivalent? Would we have a national funeral in his honour?

  21. I wonder what the BackRoom Gang will do to shore him up so that they don’t lose Congress in 2010?
I would bet money that part of their plan will include ACORN. They may also attempt to push through a new and improved fairness doctrine.

Saw that -19 earlier today, a whopping three-point drop from the previous record set the day before. I also see Bam Bam has been in solid double digit negatives for a full month now (noting there was no polling over the American Thanksgiving long weekend).
With negative approval in the solid double digits, for as long as they have been, Bam Bam’s support is now bleeding even from the Democrat base. Simply amazing this administration seems either unable or unwilling to switch gears on any of its policy initiatives.

  23. EBD: OMG don’t get me started on Howard Zinn, the Marxist. 5 years ago I was all set to move to the U.S. (Portland, Oregon). So in preparation for this, I decided to learn more about the history of the country. I naively bought Zinn’s “A People’s History of the United States”, not knowing a thing about him or the book (the Amazon reviews seemed positive). I started reading it in earnest. After about 50 pages a continual stream of WTF’s kept popping into my brain. If one were to take Zinn at face value then every early American political & military leader was a vile scumbag and the only heroes were … wait for it … union leaders. Soon after I left the book in the laundry room of my apartment building!
batb: Good on you for speaking up loudly! Some local SDA’ers and I plan to get together this Thursday, Dec. 17th @ 10am at the Tim Hortons at Broadway & Fir in Vancouver. I will not hesitate to hide my views to anyone in the vicinity. Being Canada’s Left Coast, some heads are likely to explode!!! P.S. All are welcome!

  24. Nicola Timmerman: “Who is the English-Canadian equivalent? Would we have a national funeral in his honour?”
There isn’t an English-language equivalent, which may be the fault of us English-language Canadians. I suspect, however, we don’t have the equivalent of a Gilles Carle because most of our English-language directors/filmmakers, Norman Jewison being one of them, left for the States — which seems to be the fate of most of our English-language “stars”: Jim Carrey, John Candy, Martin Short, Dan Ackroyd, etc., etc.
The Francophonie nature of Quebec, its being a tiny enclave in a huge ocean of English-language speakers, media, etc. has created a very fiercely proud, tight-knit, arts community — which, it has to be said, has been highly subsidized by the rest of Canada — resulting in an iron-clad loyalty to the Quebecois cultural leaders.
English-language “culture” has been thinly spread across North America and lacks the cultural hot-house atmosphere of Quebec.

  25. I do agree that Radio Canada is subsidized by the rest of Canada and that Hydro Quebec because of its abundant ‘cheap’ power tends to subsidize a lot of Quebec culture (including English theater and music in general). But there are a lot of magazines devoted to Quebec stars – we don’t have the equivalent at all in English Canada.

  26. Cal, interesting development. I’d long known that this AGW nonsense was going to cause a huge rift between West and East. But until now, I hadn’t considered it between South and North.
Just imagine this future story: Over privileged white liberals in places like Toronto & Victoria will be telling Aboriginals in the North that they’re selfish and destroying the planet. It’s going to be quite an amazing spectacle!

  27. The other grande difference between the ROC and Quebec is the number of prime time modern soap operas on t.v. They are very popular (some have been running for years and years) and of course make household names out of the actors and actresses.
I do think it all tends to get a bit incestuous since the music, t.v. and theater personalities turn up on all the same talk shows, quizz shows and variety shows. However it does work.
By the way why isn’t the C.B.C. running a few of Gilles Carles’ films in translation or with subtitles? Ridiculous the two solitudes – the biggest mistake Canada ever made dividing the two networks completely.

  28. “Record Cold To hit Global Warming Conference (Copenhagen To Break Dec 17th Record by 7 Degrees!)
Once again its bad timing for a global warming meeting as all time record cold temperatures are set to strike the the U.N. global warming conference in Copenhagen.
Last week “warmists” were confronted with reports that November Arctic Sea Ice growth exceeded the 1979-2000 average and that “in general, the ice edge is now at or slightly beyond its average location”.
The bad timing for “warmists” this time is that Copenhagen, home to the UN global warming conference until December 18th, is set to break the all time low temperature record for December 17th.
Here is a screengrab of Copenhagen weather from Weather Underground for Dec 17th 2008 that shows the all time cold record for that date (24 degrees) was set on Dec 17th 1997:” (more)
