Now is the time at SDA when we juxtapose!
October, 2009 – Under the Green Options Plan, SaskPower intends to procure up to 175MW of wind power from independent power producers.
November, 2009 – Wall Govt Scrambles To Cover Deficit

So goes all gubermints,Kate.
Hey BLEET…gonna bitch because Kate pointed this out? Waiting…waiting…
From the As goes Ontario link: “[McGuinty] is using taxpayers’ money to massively subsidize wind — paying 13.5 cents per kilowatt hour for electricity generated from wind turbines (19 cents for offshore projects) compared to the normal cost of generation of four to five cents.”
But wait – it’s just keeps getting better. A solar farm opened up in Ontario and it puts the above subsidies to shame.
“The companies are following through on 20-year contracts signed with the Ontario Power Authority under the province’s standard-offer program. The program pays 42 cents for every kilowatt-hour of electricity produced from a solar system, or roughly seven times the going rate for electricity from the grid.”

As goes California….
California is introducing an energy tax on big screen TV’s.
Ontario is contemplating doing the same.
These bunch of inept clowns that are governing this province will bankrupt it if left to their own devices long enough. Mr. Wall learned well from his association with the Devine government who brought this province to the brink of bankruptcy. The mere arrogance of the Sask Party and their stupidity is staggering. First potash revenues were set at 1,9 billion, then readjusted to 600 million and now they are forecasting 109 million. From 1.9 billion to 109 million is not just an overestimation; it is pure stupidity. And to budget and spend on these “estimates” is even more asinine. The sooner these yokels are out of office and their incompetent grubby little fingers off the public purse the better. A PC is a PC is a SP. Oops
Candles, neo, for sure, and probably sweaters would be a good investment too. Even if there is lots of natgas around, you still need power to run a furnace fan. And there may not be that much natgas around, since that seems to be the only reliable electric generation option that Dalton Minimus hasn’t ruled out of Ontario’s energy future.
T could you please E-mail the sask party and tell them to cut the free-needles-for-junkies, STAT!
This is insanity. With the fractal method of obtaining natural gas we have enough for 100s of years. The land required for these massive solar farms is nuts and how will they provide energy with six months of winter and its short days of indirect sunshine and lots of cloudy weather?
I’am amazed Troll is complaining. This is just the kind of thing he advocates. What’s the prob,T? PO’d you aren’t doing it?
OH….and you owe Kate ONE humongous apology for saying she never posts anything bad about the “other side”. Waiting.
Ummmmm….can taste those steaks already.
ontario — smart money says… “buy candles”.
Smart investors are bailing on anything that is a “green” investment . . . that bubble is bursting with the release of the CRU files.
T roll can bluster ’til the cows come home. The Sask Party has done more for Sask. in 2 years than the NDP accomplished in 16. More importantly, they have given the people a taste of life after socialism and, much to the dismay of sore losers like T roll, the people like it … and they like it in great numbers.
Sure … there might be a few potholes on the road to prosperity. After all, the Sask Party is not perfect. However, it sure beats the hell out of years of dispair, stagnation, equalization payments and socialist lunacy.
BTW – I was on a media panel a couple of weeks ago and specifically mentioned the Wall govt’s ridiculous spending increases. Overall, I still think they’re doing a good job, but Brad still has yet to learn the number one axiom of governing as a conservative – “pleasing your enemies does not turn them into friends”.
T…both myself and GYM are still waiting….waiting
Perhaps McGuinty is smarter than he is being given credit for. One of his goals was to decrease the amount of emissions from motor vehicles. With his latest folly, it will leave people with only two choices. Put gas in your car or keep your electricity flowing. You won’t be able to afford both.
T is still ticked that the Bolsheviks are out.
“It doesn’t matter who you vote for, the government always gets elected.”
It’s just unfortunate that it’s so easy to draw the parallels between the Wall finances and the Devine finances.
I thought Brad was smarter than that. Still, he’s got two years to convince us he’s not as big an idiot as we know Link is…
Ontario’s $25 billion deficit is larger, per capita, than the federal deficit, but McGuinty seems to get an easier ride than the feds in MSM, especially in the Toronto-centred media.
Still waiting for a reporter who claims to be worth his salt to ask Dalton’s brother David to rationalize how he can attack the feds but not his own brother’s gov’t on the deficit issue…. David’s an Ontario MP after all, thus he has a responsibility to comment considering that his constituents are affected by the province’s deficit as well. What, it’s the “Harper deficit” but his brother is a victim of the “global” recession? Pfft! Also, it’s interesting to note that the day after the McGuinty gov’t came out and said NO to calls for a public inquiry into the BILLION DOLLAR eHealth scandal, the MSM’s attitude was, “well, that’s the final word on that, time to move on everybody” and provincial opposition calls for one evaporated in news reporting while the day after the feds have said NO to a public inquiry into the Afghan detainee abuse issue the very same Toronto-centered media continue to press for one… and will continue to do so in the days and weeks to come. CBC, CTV, Toronto Star, all have bureaus within a mile or two of the Ontario legislature. So much for “Local TV Matters”. What a crock!
Unfortunately, this is the continuation of socialist government in Saskatchewan. A 22% increase in spending since 2007 is no holiday from the NDP at all, just more of the same.
My greatest concern is that the SP will blow their time in power, without gutting/cutting the institutions that support the NDP.
Kate has it bang on – NDP supporters will never come around. We need a REAL free enterprise option in this province, how pitiful.
“One bad year with potash will not result in bankruptcy or financial collapse”
Even a fool realizes that potash sales will come around …. and they will come around in a big way. Potash is not a luxury that countries can simply do without. The fertilizer produced from the potash is an absolute agricultural necessity.
Potash is mined in very few places on this earth. Saskatchewan is fortunate to be sitting on a seemingly endless supply of the stuff.
Potash revenue will bounce back and the sore loser socialists will have to find something else to bitch about.
Yeah SaskPower was completely mismanaged under the NDP, and the SaskParty, more or less, has continued the legacy. A very serious fraud and kickback scheme was brought to the attention of their management years ago, involving temporary employees and HR personnnel who solicit bribes in exchange for continued employment. They’ve done nothing about it, despite the existence of the scheme being disclosed in court documents.
Why the SaskParty allowed the completely incompetent Pat Youzwa to continue in her office, while firing almost every other executive, is completely beyond me.

The Sask A Tory party couldn’t teach a cat to take food off a table.
I agree with you entirely Kate. Here in the Yukon, the people elected a Dipper who converted to the ‘sort of Conservative’ Yukon Party. The Dipper made a coup d’etate with a hundred or so supporters and ran as the head of the Yukon (conservative) Party(this territory is very small population wise – $30,000 people ALL welfare or gov’t paper shuffler welfare or dependant on gov’t welfare). The territory is controlled by ‘special’ (left wing whacko environmentalists from USA or lower Canada) so it produces nothing. Fentie and the some real Conservative M.P.s won the election. Some people Like me!)thought that we would have some incentive for private enterprise with a Conservative government but our Dipper Premiere kept all the Dipper bureaucrats with their Dipper ways. The right is dead here now because there has been a huge hydro scandle involving lies and missing millions. The Conservative M.P.s with one honorable exception, Mr. Brad Cathers, are jumping and jigging to the Fentie Dipper flail. Msm? Dead quiet – this indicates something very fowl.
The Yukon government cannot survive without Fed money (handouts), it is all they have. Some of you lower Canada taxpayers should be questioning the billions sent to this dead beat territory of 30,000 hot house plants (inhabitants).
I work for a private employer but our business is dependant on gov’t pay role types.
Are you taking notes Mr. Wall?
I have seen first hand the policy of pleasing your enemies does not turn them into friends. The Brad Wall Gov’t did not purge the civil service when it took power in 2007. The top civil servants including assiciate minsiters, deputy ministers, head off Crown Corporations are still in charge and still running it the same old way…where is the change Mr. Wall? The people who supported you for many years were shunned and there will be a day reckoning. You may not here their voices now as they are keeping quite, hoping one day you will do the right thing and get rid of the socialist. Mark my words you will hear it one day and as we come closer to an election in 2011 the NDP will be getting more brown envelopes than you can count…do you really think that all these NDP in positions of power are not planning with the NDP opposition what they can do to embarass the Sask Party…wake up and smell the roses…maybe one day some of your own MLA’s will have the nerve to tell you to open your eyes…as for the supporters you abandoned, they wait for the day when they will see justice.
They’ve spent the surplus so now what?
