According to the most recent Rasmussen report, opposition to Obamacare has grown to its highest level yet – 56 percent – despite Obama’s speech to congress and his unprecedented media blitz. Ed Morrissey writes:
“Part of the reason why this strategy has not been effective is because Obama has had nothing new to say in months. He appears convinced that the answer to voter rejection of his arguments is to offer them repeatedly and in increasing loudness and anger.”
It’s the Michael Ignatieff approach, essentially, but with the addition of actual concrete proposals.

Obama is falling for the self-deluding notion held by many libs that the reason the general public doesn’t accept their ideas is because “the message isn’t getting out.”
Their REAL problem is that their message IS getting out, and getting rejected.
Ya know, basic sales training sez, don’t talk features, talk benefits; prospective customers aren’t interested in the technical features of a product, per se, only the realizable benefits to them personally. And not to their neighbours. If you ignore this truth and yammer on about yet even more features, you lose the sale. You learn this early or starve.
Obama doesn’t know this key rule (He went to Harvard you know!!!) and moreover he just talks about the same features over and over and over again. Eyes glaze. Ears are stopped. As ET might put it, it’s about what Obama wants, not the public.
And people with no economics training at all know (a huge advantage) intuitively understand that the probability of “deficit neutrality” is zero and the prospect of government intervention increasing competition is outright laughable.
Most folks are intuiting Obama’s inner aluminum siding saleman.
Listening to Obama is like getting a voice mail (I just did yesterday) saying you’ve won a 6-day trip to Costa Rica and “here’s your claim #”.

Obama is a pathological narcissist; that means that he interacts with people to control them; they must adulate and adore him. Or, they simply do not exist in ‘Obama’s World’.
I cannot emphasize enough this pathology of Obama’s. I suggest he long ago moved into a ‘cocoon’ where his only interactions are to control others. He uses three tactics: misinformation; emotional manipulation via hope and fear; and, if you continue to reject him, accusations that your rejection is due to your own bias. If Obama cannot control you, then, you do not exist.
I also consider that Obama is intellectually ignorant, shallow, and uninterested in history, theories, ‘ideas’ and ‘policies’. His sole focus is on himself and his ability to charm and manipulate you. What does he like to do? Golf, basketball, swim..and be on-stage to oversee You, and tell You what to do. He doesn’t devise those policies and programs – that’s all done by the BackRoom Gang. Obama is merely the upfront Salesman.
The problem is, that Obama, as a Salesman, has some problems. He’s just repeating the same empty platitudes about ‘how great this car is’. He hasn’t a clue how it runs. If you ask him, he’ll tell you whatever he thinks you want to hear. Obama, long ago, ceased to differentiate between Fact and Fiction, Truth and Lie.
So..the Democrat BRG have to frequently move into ‘damage control’ to deal with Obama’s gaffes.
Then, there’s that pesky narcissism. It requires a LOT of feeding. So, the BRG have to keep him constantly on-stage, on late-night shows, on carefully screened and programmed town halls etc, all set up to make Obama Feel Loved and In Control.
And what about the criticism of ‘his’ policies/ Obama can’t handle criticism; he becomes angry. So, they have to tell him..and Americans..that the reason people don’t accept The Great One’s policies is because..they are racist. Or unable to accept Change. Or against government. Or partisan. The fault is in you..not in Obama. And Obama, the robot, repeats this on his shows..chastizing us for Being Biased.
But, Obama seems to have reached a critical threshold in his Sales Schtick. He’s stopped being effective. So, the BRG are planning their own, heh, astroturf campaigns..to go out and rouse the public for Obama. So much for grassroots.
But notice how the BRG and Obama so causally dismiss Facts. The Congress, the Congressional Budget Office, the House..any questions and concerns and factual rebuttals..are all dismissed. Opposition is rejected – as noted, if you oppose Obama, the problem is in YOU.
Obama’s foreign policy is a shambles; he aligns himself with dictators and socialists and rejects the West and democracy.
What’s next?
Obama is surprised that no one is bought over by his charm and smarm. I guess one can’t fool all of the people all of the time.
As for Ignatieff, his self-serving article in the National Post takes a cheap shot at his compatriot, Sarah Palin. Makes me support her more.

Seriously, though, I have a lot of American friends, none of which (nor their family nor their friends) are in favour of Obamacare. They actually know the facts and I have passed onto them some horror stories about rationed health care, including this one at BCF. They know the facts despite the propaganda being thrust their way.
It gives me hope.
Now, if only we could fix our health care, or even be able to have an intelligent, adult conversation about it without the screaming meemies going apoplectic, we could be much better off.

What’s next? The Republicans don’t really have a strong unified multi-ethnic party. Their conventions are pretty homogenous, and that should be a concern for them. Incrementalism could help, forget that “playing to the base” stuff. But will they? Who will lead them? Michael Steele seems to be a bit of a non-entity.

The Republicans have been correct in not stepping in for the first months to a year, and allowing Obama-and-the Democrats to implode on their own. They will have to, soon, however, set up a few Republican leaders to articulate what they have to offer. Not yet but soon.
My question is – what does the Democratic Party do within a plan that doesn’t seem to be working? They set up a two-headed strategy to take over and destroy the democratic and capitalist infrastructure of the US, and insert a socialist and collectivist structure.
They set up Obama, a mindless, lazy, ignorant narcissist as the Salesman. Obama would be their puppet; they’d write the bills, he’d sell them. The strategy was to use his manipulative charm to make this drastic infrastructural change..fast.
The bills were written by the Democrat elite (not by Obama); they were introduced; they were NOT to be read or debated by Congress. They were to be passed, via the rhetoric of Obama. They were successful with the stimulus – which Obama got through using his Key Strategy of Emotional Manipulation (the economy will collapse if you don’t pass it).
But then..things started to get tricky. People started to ask – why are you insisting that Congress not read and debate the bills? Isn’t that their job? Why are you insisting that they pass the bills based only on their Trust-in-Obama?
And..the financial cost became public. And the pork. And the failure of the bill. Obama tried his usual…remember, he can’t distinguish between fact and fiction. So, he’ll lie and lie and lie…he’s indifferent to that.
And, Obama’s anti-Americanism became public as he apologized for the pre-Obama America; and his insults to foreign leaders of the West. His obeisance to the King of Saudi Arabia, his smooching up to Chavez; his support of Zelaya in Honduras…who violated the Honduran constitution.
And..the health care…it’s all imploded. So, Obama has moved into his Charm and Manipulation. He’s on every talk show going. And, he blames the American people for their rejection of His Bill. And accuses them of racism, of bias…
And..he’s stalled. It’s not working. Will the Democratic Party cabal, those radicals who now control the Party, drop Obama if he becomes a liability to their getting their radical socialism into the US?

if I recall the retail sales training I took then taught about 15 yrs ago the acronym is FAB – Feature Advantage Benefit. This shoe has a pure leather upper (feature) that the longer you wear the shoe the more supple it will become and it will actually form to the shape of your foot (advantage) which will make it a much more comfortable to wear (benefit).
In obama’s case you are correct. He is simply telling us the Fs and not closely linking them to As and Bs. He expects his listeners to connect the scattered dots together. I recently went to a sales seminar where the presenter used a piece of plastic barf to represent this all too often used approach to great effect. It is the cardinal sin and principle weakness of rookie or poor salesmen. I hardly ever see FAB used even at the highest levels of sales which is a great shame.
In BOs case his sales track should go something like this: A paralell government health system will have the ability to guarantee that everyone has access to healthcare at any time . That means that you and your loved ones (read your lazy kid who’s 25 and thinks she is invincible) will be able to get access to diagnostic procedures like X-rays and MRIs even before they feel sick. This early detection will mean longer and healthier lives for you and your family.
But the other key and frankly even more important sales skill he needs is ABC Always Be Closing – which in my opinion is the meaning and the means to a happy productive life. (I’m serious). Obama does not put the ask to people – he doesn’t ask them to call their cngressman or senator – to put pressure on them. However if he did it would still fail because he hasn’t used enough FAB.
And thank goodness for that.

This is an excellent question, upon which I’ve been cogitating for some time. I think the answer is -no-. They won’t cut him loose, they’ll turn up the heat and start using the powers of the federal government on the people.
