  1. Dave Bronconnier, mayor of Calgary , to name 22 million dollar 400 ft long pedestrian bridge , “The Peace Bridge”
howabout” Bronco Bridge” if it gets the same gallop as the Millenium Bridge in London
    or the “POS bridge”.
or “Duh Bridge” after alderman Duh Farrell. who seems to have had a bridge dropped on her brain.

  2. I have a particular dislike for CBCpravda especially the radio, as I tell folks if I listened to CBC1010 in Calgary they have me in a complete snit by 14 street bridge.
but I listened the other day because Peter Pansbridge on the TV had used a bunch of kitchen table economists from Windsor as the proof that the bank of Canada president was wrong and the recession wasnt over.
CBC1010pravda of the west did it one better they interviewed a bike courier as proof the recession wasnt over. lucky there was no picture of the dreadlocked one , it might have harmed his street cred.
A bike courier yet. maybe no one else in cowtown will talk with them , not even Duane Bratt.

  3. Here’s an example of a prominent political figure that criticized a sitting President for rushing legislation through Congress that nobody read.
If you haven’t already seen it at Drudge, try to guess who it is before clicking.

  4. If this doesn’t convince you then nothin’ will…
**A Canadian astronaut on a six-month stay aboard the international space station said on Sunday it looks like Earth’s ice caps have melted a bit since he was last in orbit 12 years ago.
Bob Thirsk said that there is a “very thin veil of atmosphere around the Earth that keeps us alive … Most of the time when I look out the window I’m in awe. But there are some effects of the human destruction of the Earth as well,” Reuters quoted him as saying.
“This is probably just a perception, but I just have the feeling that the glaciers are melting, the snow capping the mountains is less than it was 12 years ago when I saw it last time,” Thrisk was quoted as saying. “That saddens me a little bit.”**

  5. “they knocked on the door of the prime minister’s office and wound up meeting Lester Pearson for a few minutes. They knocked on the opposition leader’s office as well and ended up talking to John Diefenbaker for an hour.”
try THAT nowadays. the only ones even close is the bunch from this hour has 22 minutes.

  6. Hey Thirsk, you twit. It only cost us fifty million pounds of fuel to get you up there- into that celestial RV, that over the years cost us fifty times as much to construct. Enjoy… and shush.
I was planning on going quadding in the bush this weekend, but gee, with those polar icecaps disappearing, I don’t know.
After a moment of reflection, screw it, I’m gone!

  7. The Tour De France has been over for a day & a half now and Lance Armstrong finished in 3rd place.
I wonder? Should we start a pool in regards to how long it takes those idiots over there to accuse him of doping?

  8. Why is Canada sending Turds up in space? Is this the comedy channel of brilliant Canadians, or what? Did NASA test the boy for drug induced delusions?

  9. didnt Lance Armstrong have his nether parts removed?
does he inject testosterone to make up for it?
I think the doping test is not how much testosterone you have but if you have more than one “strain” of said chemical

  10. Tony Bennett, like Dean Martin, he made it look, feel, and sound effortless. Romance, there is just too little of it, now……..
A cheese plate, pouilly fuisse, Bennett, got everything but the cheese, off to Paddy’s.

  11. BREAKING:
ISLAMIC SUPREMACISTS TO HOLD CONFERENCE IN MISSISSAUGA, ONTARIO, JULY 31
    http://thecanadiansentinel.blogspot.com/2009/07/breaking-islamic-supremacists-to-meet.html

They just held an international meeting in Chicago, Obama’s hometown.
Now it comes to my attention that Hizb ut-Tahir will be holding a meeting on July 31st in Missauga, Ontario.
And the insane thing is that the meeting will be held at a government-managed community center, the Mississauga Valley Community Center.

Why should the government allow a dangerous hate group to hold a conference at a community center?

  12. Glad to see Jay’s site is back up and running – it’s part of my daily crawl.

  13. File it under the rug:
A deliberate left leaning MSM cover up?…I have yet to hear this on CNN tv. Foxnews.com has an article on it. This should be major news just like those 7-8 con men (All white) arrested in New Jersey last week, right?. Is it because they are Muslim? Is it because there might be some blacks in the group?(The leader is white)
All this bad timing for Emperor Obama and his foot in mouth racist comment last week?
“7 in North Carolina charged with supporting terrorism”
    http://www.foxnews.com/

  14. Rasmussen’s daily presidential index is minus 8. It’s been in the minus range all month, and hovering around minus 8 to 11 in the past few days.
His ‘strongly approve’ vs ‘strongly disapprove’ has also switched from his inauguration, with a strong disapproval in the 35-40 range, differing from his original 44 to 16 (str approval vs strong disapproval).
His general ratings now are about 50-50 and tending to the negative. This is also a change from his original 65 approval to 30 disapproval.
And what we hear, more and more, in the MSM and blogs, are concerns about Obama’s indifference to facts and inability to move from rhetoric to reality. He lives in a fantasy world, pure make-believe and has no interest in the nuts and bolts of reality. Therefore, when the Congressional Budget Committee declares that Obama’s views on the costs of Health Care are invalid – Obama simply ignores them and continues with his fantasies.
When the facts are that his ‘stimulus’ did not increase employment or save jobs but instead, was simply a pork-filled Democratic feast – he ignores this and tells the public only his make-believe beliefs.
People are puzzled; they’ve never had to deal with someone so cocooned from reality, so fixated on strong-arming socialist utopian Big Government solutions, so adverse to facts and to considering the problematic results of his fantasies..and so entrapped within psychological problems, i.e., his racism, his aversion to a wealthy Investor Class, his elitism and arrogance.
How will the Democrats deal with the emerging view of Obama as totally different from the campaign Obama?

  15. JohnG & Lev
    Re: Paper apologizes to PM
Thats a News story that you “Wont” see on National News Watch, CTV or CBC.
Those so called news agencies only report the Negative Bash PM Harper & conservatives stories.

  16. Will the CBC, CTV and other Liberal MSM also apologize to Harper for maligning him?
And why is this error only now becoming public? After all, the two reporters would presumably have realized the very day of publication that the story contained an item that they never saw or heard or even wrote. Why did they not go to the editors immediately? And why did they not go public to CBC, CTV etc?

  17. no apologies from CBCpravda or CTVtass yet.
perhaps CBC1010 Calgary is looking for a bike courier who was passed the wafer and speedily took it to Iggy as evidence.

  18. “How will the Democrats deal with the emerging view of Obama as totally different from the campaign Obama?”
    ET
There’s already rumbles of mutiny amount the Dems as 2010 mid terms are fast approaching and more and more citizens are voicing revolt.
The organisation for Sep 12 march on Washington by the Tea partiers is growing fast. To date, 14,000 have formally registered, flying and driving in from all over the Country.
The proof of eligibility to be Prez according to the constitution is spreading like wild fire and the media although being told to shut up by the powers from above are itching to avoid it even if more and more stories are coming out daily with innacurate, incomplete or deliberate deceit.
Lou Dobbs was formally told to shut up by CNN’s Prez just minutes after last week’s show on the subject.
Some are saying this is panic from MSM who are assisting at the beginning of their own funeral of sorts.
Army Major Stephan Cook who has been dismissed from serving a tour in Afghanistan after he demanded proof now has his case filed in Florida. It is now probable that a class action may be filed by members of the national defense.
    To answer your question ET:
Maybe Barry will soon be thrown under the bus to avoid civil unrest that will fester and grow worse if they wait too long (And lots of Democrats loosing their jobs with the potential of years in the wilderness afterwards).
Some are saying that it would be too risky for violence if Barry was to be removed for Constitutional transgressions. Looking at the favorable poll numbers in sharp decline, I am starting to think that some African Americans are also discontent. This means that civil unrest might be possibly limited to certain big city centres like Detroit and Chicago. As someone said, “Some broken windows for a few days and stolen TV sets is a small price to pay compared to a full fledged revolution”.

  19. Put this under “outrageous”. Two TTC ticket takers were arrested for stealing fares. Kiran Sachdev had a salary of $125,247 last year yet was so greedy he had to steal more. Hope the union rises to the defence of one of their poorly paid brothers who can’t seem to make ends meet and is slipping into poverty!
Why incur the costs of higher education, just join a public union. This guy is at the earning level of a GP doctor or company director.
Wonder what Brother Miller settled for with his CUPE buddies. Toronto is facing a $2.3 billion dollar unfunded liability to pay for the benefits of its unions and their costs steadily rise, recession means nothing.

  20. honourable terry – I think that the questions concerning Obama’s birth are, by now, operationally irrelevant to removing him from office. Such claims and such an action would throw the country into years of lawsuits and litigation and function only to split the nation.
I think that this question of his birth is emerging as a kind of ‘unconscious reason’ for those who supported Obama, to now reject him. After all, to have supported Obama and now reject him implies a fault in yourself. An inability to ‘see the truth’, to see what Obama really is, a tendency in yourself to be blinded by glitz.
Instead, if there are doubts about something in Obama, his birth, a situation over which you had no control, it’s easier to reject him over this doubt…than rejecting yourself.
The key problem Democrats have with Obama is his inability to live in the real world, his existence in a make-believe world – and the very deep problem he has dealing with reality impinging on the security of his make-believe world. That, coupled with his arrogance, his elitism, his anti-Americanism – it’s quite a handful. And it’s all starting to emerge and be talked about.
People are puzzled; they have no experience of a leader so ‘out of it’ as Obama – someone who talks in grandiose terms, someone who lives only in the abstract – even in his racism of ‘white cop bad/black man victim’ – and refuses to deal with facts and reality.

  21. And the Mayor of Calgary?
Posted by: OMMAG at July 27, 2009 11:13 PM
Yep – Bronconnier is a failed federal Librano. While this is known – and strangely forgiven in Calgary – locals are slowly coming to understand the composition of City Hall.
Most leftists and socialists were rubbed out at the provincial level when Klein swept his way past Red Getty.
These NDP’ers, unionists, and assorted tweed coat wearing socialists reacted by dropping their colours, and going municipal.
It’s far easier to organize locally, and once acquired, incumbents at the municipal level are notoriously hard to get rid of.
Calgary City Hall is infested with latte socialists – hence the year over year 5%+ tax increases to float the bloated bureaucracy and lame city workforce.
If Calgarians knew the half of how their tax dollars are wasted on the thousands of pseudo-workers – there would be sea change.
Fortunately, it looks as if ‘change’ is emerging as the theme of next years’ election.
Just in time as another 6% tax increase takes place (the budget is set three years in advance, and these numbers are already known. The socialists are distributing income off of the backs of fixed income seniors and lower income taxpayers through property tax increases far outside of inflation).
I hope their time is coming fast.

    Welcome to PET’s PET Cemetery.
MSM is outraged at the outrage.

    “Tolerance debate revisited
Speculation that the deaths of three Montreal-area sisters and their female caregiver could have been a so-called honour killing has rekindled the reasonable accommodation debate in the Quebec press.
Le Devoir columnist Jean-Claude Leclerc called the tragedy, which took place in Kingston, “the pretext for another dispute over tolerance in Canada.” Mr. Leclerc observed that “even though the hard facts have yet to be established,” the police have already suggested that this could be a case of “the breaking of Canadian law by foreigners and the importation of social mores that are incompatible with those of our society.”
Le Journal de Montreal’s Richard Martineau didn’t waste any time adding his two cents of unbridled outrage to the discussion. In a missive riddled with his trademark all-cap exclamations, Mr. Martineau declared the killings a result of a “barbaric” extremist ideology that “SYSTEMATICALLY promotes the hatred and mistreatment of women.” Mr. Martineau went on to question “why Canada has agreed to welcome people who espouse values that oppose the ones we defend?” and concluded by quoting French President Nicolas Sarkozy’s statement regarding the banning of the burka in France: “We should not be ashamed of our values, we should not be afraid to defend them.”
In his Saturday column in La Presse, Patrick Lagacé reserved some of his outrage for the police officers involved in last week’s press conference. Mr. Lagacé was particularly upset by the fact Kingston’s police chief made a point of stating that the three sisters “all shared the rights within our great country to live without fear, to enjoy safety and security, and to exercise freedom of choice and expression.” Mr Lagacé argued that the chief would never have felt the need to “underline the obvious” or “explain how the Earth is round” if the suspects had not been from Afghanistan. He went on to suggest that “the fact that the chief of a police force in a Canadian city felt the need to remind us of this kind of thing is a concession to those extremists […] whose lives are ruled by retrograde superstitions.” Mr. Lagacé labelled the police chief’s choice of words a “dazzling symbol” of the “very Canadian” tendency to avoiding criticizing ethnicity or risk being labelled a racist. “It is not racist to say that there are some ‘new Canadians’ who come from reactionary cultures. It is not racist to say that Sharia is heresey,” Mr. Lagacé declared.
An article on Rue Frontenac – the news site staffed by striking Journal de Montreal employees – quoted Djemila Benhabib, an anti-Islamist and feminist author, who in reaction to news of the killings said that some people who are new to Canada act “as if they were still living in their village” and “maintain the values of their home country and consider them more important than those of Canada.” Ms. Benhabib went on to say that Canadians and their governments must do more to protect the rights of Muslim women and declared that, “When we normalize the veil, when we cry Islamophobia as soon as we want to discuss things, we abort the debate.””

  23. Another example of the “tolerant” left in action:
    michellemalkin.com/2009/07/28/e-mails-of-the-day-2/
Michelle Malkin’s Emails of the Day. She was on Hannity last night promoting her book “Culture of Corruption”, opening a pandora’s box on O’s corrupt buddies, including his wife:
“Michelle Malkin you are a stupid asian B***.The only reason you are on t.v is because americans feel so so sorry for you.
It is obvious that you have no idea what you are talking about.
So go and sell your body some more.
So that you can send money back home to support your slummish asian family.”
    Nice, real nice.

  24. This is the very first thing Obama signed on his very first day as POTUS on Jan 21 2009:
    EXECUTIVE ORDER 13489
Do you think it’s for the closure of Guantanamo prison like it was widely told on the news? Nah…guess again.
    Google it and see.

  25. Expert experts say the Mole’s name is not Suzy. Darn experts.
    …-
“Met Office / Hadley CRU discovers the mole
    28 07 2009
In case you are just joining us, here is some background on the story below. I know the identity of the mole. The ball is now in CRU’s court. Steve McIntyre reports below and throws down the gauntlet.
    Met Office/CRU Finds the Mole
by Steve McIntyre on July 28th, 2009
More news on the Met Office/CRU molehunt.
Late yesterday (Eastern time), I learned that the Met Office/CRU had identified the mole. They are now aware that there has in fact been a breach of security. They have confirmed that I am in fact in possession of CRU temperature data, data so sensitive that, according to the UK Met Office, my being in possession of this data would, “damage the trust that scientists have in those scientists who happen to be employed in the public sector”, interfere with the “effective conduct of international relations”, “hamper the ability to protect and promote United Kingdom interests through international relations” and “seriously affect the relationship between the United Kingdom and other Countries and Institutions.”

  26. 22 Million dollars, count’em, that’s $22,000,000 for a piffling footbridge across the Bow, eh? I’m no expert and call me cynical, but it seems to me that there’s more than a little fat in that than the project justifies. Are there more pockets to be lined and palms crossed than merely those of the Spanish architects and their constructors for this imminent boondoggle? And while we’re on that, are there no Canadian architects capable of footbridge design?. Were any Canadian architects actually invited to tender? How did their bids compare? I can’t wait to see the design. Bronco’s giving us a full month’s warning so I’m guessing it’ll probably be something utterly horrendous more befitting a Disneyland theme or a Star Wars set. You know, similar to that concrete-and-glass abortion recently illustrated in the Herald as an artist’s impression of the new “Music Centre” after they rip-down the iconic King Eddie.
Another thing. This highly controversial issue has been on the boil for months and months, and never, NEVER BEFORE YESTERDAY, have I or anyone I know had any inkling of it being called the Peace Bridge. And now Bronco, in a hopelessly pathetic attempt to blow the steam away, suddenly announces it as such and claims it to be in honour of our military heroes. Had he done that a year ago I might have believed him and looked upon that with respect. But not now. I see this as a diversionary tactic and a blatant attempt to gain political capital on the backs of our heroes. Were I them I should spit in his eye!
This is a stain on our so-called civic leaders that can’t be washed away. Disgusted beyond belief!

  27. Love the Flop and Wail. If enough posters don’t tout the party line, in this case commissar Barbara Hall in Margaret Wente’s column found for the black postal worker over the white cop, quel surprize, who questioned him to verify he was a fill in postman-, they shut the comments section down. I guess far too many posters supported the cop over the railroading HRC.
“According to the tribunal, “unconscious” discrimination is no different from “conscious” discrimination. And the onus is on the accused to prove he’s innocent. “Once a prima facie case of discrimination has been established, the burden shifts to the respondent to provide a rational explanation which is not discriminatory. … The respondent must offer an explanation which is credible on all the evidence.”

  28. Goreacle Report: Yob’s carbon footprint.
“But U2 managers said the protests meant more than 50 trucks carrying much of the band’s 390-ton stage, TV screens, lighting and sound equipment missed their intended morning ferry.”

“Dubliners decry U2’s noisy all-night stage removal
DUBLIN (AP) – Dubliners angry over the around-the-clock dismantling of U2’s monumental concert stage mounted street protests Tuesday, snarling the Irish band’s plans for the next stages of their European tour.
Residents around Croke Park stadium said their aim was to embarrass Dublin City Council and the Gaelic Athletic Association – which authorized the all-night noise – not delay Ireland’s most famous musical export.
But U2 managers said the protests meant more than 50 trucks carrying much of the band’s 390-ton stage, TV screens, lighting and sound equipment missed their intended morning ferry.
Some trucks did depart the stadium several hours late as protesters stood aside. But tour organizers said it was too soon to determine whether any of U2’s tightly scheduled concert dates in Sweden, Germany and Poland would be affected.”

  29. cbcnews.ca not allowing comment on the decision in the Rengel Murder case. She must serve 7 years before being considered for parole. Not long enough.

  30. Regarding the “Peace Bridge” in Calgary to honour our military. Yeah right,Mr. Mayor,it was only a year or so ago that this fool would not allow the “support the troops” decals on city vehicles.Buck off Mr. Bronco.

  31. MSM and SmallMSM is getting out the facts.
    More, please.
    …-
“The wrongs of human rights too plentiful
In a column in the National Post, Ezra Levant, who has been battling Alberta human rights zealots, identified seven individuals who work for the Canadian Human Rights Commission (CHRC) who also joined neo-Nazi, anti-Semitic, or white hate groups.
It’s not that these individuals are Nazi sympathizers or racists who’ve infiltrated the hallowed halls of human rights activists. They aren’t.
What they are, are provocateurs, using the Internet to join suspect hate groups in order to collect evidence against them.
In other words, it’s a form of entrapment. Intelligence agents joining (penetrating) a group to assess possible treason or subversion, is vastly different from enticing, provoking or encouraging a racist reaction by pretending to be more extreme than the extremists — which is what CHRC provocateurs do.”
