It’s a sad day in science when Jeopardy has more credibility than the NOAA:
Let me say it first: THIS IS JUST WRONG.
If they know the error, how can they possibly justify keeping the new maximum records? You can’t get away with this sort of thing in the world of professional sports records, Olympic records, or even the cheesy Guinness Book of Records. Heck they even fix mistakes made on the TV quiz show Jeopardy and dock the contestant’s winnings!
Surely NOAA has more scruples than a TV game show?
If the record can’t be verified because the equipment is faulty, how does that make it a valid record? They can’t, it’s FUBAR!
More scientific proof that the earth is actually cooling.
Bring it on!
This is good. It means they are so desperate to drag out the last dying breaths of their hoax that they aren’t even bothering to hide the lies. They’ve lost even the most lame ability to be subtle about their outright fraud.
Eventually, the media will even feel their intelligence is being insulted and rebel. Once that happens, you will hear nothing of climate change ever again as it will be erased from the collective memory like it never happened.
The problem with your analysis Jason is that you think that anybody outside of people like us will ever hear about this. The vast majority will never hear of any of this.

Bingo. Media are called “gatekeepers” for a reason.
Tim in Vermont, you are so right. Unfortunately most people are only concerned about getting home from work and having a cool beer. There seem to be some signs that except for the dedicated Marxist re-distributors and the “return to the buggy, cave and campfire” crowd, more of the media and Joe-6-pack people are catching on to the scam.
The media may be full of scum and villains but the majority of them are not stupid. Dishonest, but not stupid.
If the media decides that instead of a partner in crime that they’re being taken for fools, their delicate ego will kick in. Then, like their feud with Harper, the gloves will come off.
Or maybe that’s just wishful thinking…
” … The media may be full of scum and villains but the majority of them are not stupid. Dishonest, but not stupid. …”
You give the MSM too much credit , the majority are both stupid and dishonest.
I’m waiting for the Apocalyptic Global Warming talking heads to start saying that the general cooling trend is more proof of Global Warming. Seriously.
These people are such b*llsh*t artists and the majority of the public so uninformed and uncritical in their thinking that the Warmists could do that and get away with it.
A good juxtapose would be when they wouldn’t allow that new cold record in Maine this past winter. I think they questioned the reliability.
I don’t know the date.
“You give the MSM too much credit , the majority are both stupid and dishonest.”
and lazy.
“Canada: Winter still grips 90 per cent of north – migratory birds can’t breed

It is the winter that refuses to go away in northern Manitoba and most of the eastern Arctic.
Prolonged cold snowy conditions in the Hudson Bay area are expected to obliterate the breeding season for migratory birds and most other species of wildlife this year.
According to Environment Canada, the spring of 2009 is record-late in the eastern Arctic with virtually 100 per cent snow cover from James Bay north as of June 11.
May temperatures in northern Manitoba were almost four degrees C below the long-term average of -0.7, and in early June, temperatures averaged three degrees below normal.
National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration images confirm snow and ice blanket all of northern Manitoba, part of northern Ontario and almost all of the eastern Arctic as of June 12. U.S. arieal flight surveys confirm the eastern Arctic has no sign of spring so far.
“I have lived in Churchill since the 1950s, and this the latest spring I have ever seen here,” said local resident Pat Penwarden. “The spring of 1962 was almost this bad.”
Six-foot snowdrifts blocked Churchill-area roads. A thick blanket of snow, in places three- and four-feet deep, coated 90 per cent of the local taiga in northern Manitoba. Ecotourists, who normally flock to northern Manitoba every June to see birds and other wildlife, cancelled their plans this June “in droves,” according to local ecotourist specialists. Snowy conditions are largely to blame.
“It is like a winter landscape,” said Ruth Baker, a Michigan tourist who spent June 9 to 12 at Churchill. “I couldn’t believe the snowdrifts, like mountains of snow”.
Researchers confirm that the lateness of the spring of 2009 dooms local birds to a virtually complete reproductive failure.”

It’s interesting that the NOAA claims that a demonstrable error of two degrees is insignificant given that many graphs purporting to show global warming are graduated in 0.2C increments.
If a 2 degree error is insignificant, it can only be so if the resolution of the derived data is less than 4 degrees. So next time an AGW alarmist hysterically claims that the “global temperature” (a rubbish concept at any event) has risen by 3 degrees C I’ll simply point out to him/her that the NOAA accepts 4 degree fluctuations to be within the range of error of their measurements is therefore inconsequential so go pound salt!
RE: Media. I have noticed that the CBC has returned to some of the standards of Old…may have found they are Canadian. They actually did a report on Mexico, 2 nights ago, without the US media Spin. It was very good Journalism. Three nights without the BS glib is Good
The CTV Shit Head Lloyd referred to the Fascist leader in Iran as a Conservative.. What’s wrong with that sick puppy?
BTW: I would consider that Temperature accuracy of +or– 2 deg F “normal”

You are absolutly correct… an AGW Wonk on this blog claimed a .001 (3 dec point)accuracy. He was looking at his stop watch….
The A/D (Analog to digital) convertors (Tektronix) in the 70’s were 4 bit, in the 80’s 8 bit, 90’s 16 bit …. today but even with 32 bit the measurement is voltage which is not traceable to anything like the speed of light.

I use a Mac, and I think it’s 64 bit (due to the Unix heritage). Therefore my computer is twice as smarter as you loosers using Windoze. Ha! Take that!

My post was related to the acquisition bit rate conversion used with Lab Temperature probes (Platinum Sensor) AKA Valid input data
Yours was digital processing which may be executing & humping JUNK…
Go ahead pick a number.. any number,, now tell me what it means….I “may” respond with an infinite number of reasons why you are wrong.
