  1. It would figure that it would be Pat Martin crying.
What? No more entitlements paid by the taxpayer? Too bad, so sad! Go Prime Minister Harper. This is the best entertainment I have had out of Ottawa in a long time. This is truly the taxpayers dollars finally at work.

  2. Martin & friends Expect! No Demand that the Government bailout the Auto Sector with Taxpayer Money & expect the caw to make conciliations. But when it comes to Them making any to help out! No they just want to keep getting their feed from the Trough,
Do as I Say Not as I Do

  3. Pat Martin & The Wailers
Same song you hear when the able-bodied welfare recipient that their payments are ending, and they are told to go out and get a job.
    It’s a sweet song.

  4. The NDP should pay me for having had to put up with the Lewis family, including the ridiculous Michelle Landsberg (Avi’s mom), all these years.
Not to mention Jack Layton, Marilyn Churley-NDP, Svend Robinson . . .

  5. It must be absolute hell when you cannot convince your ‘Supporters’ to give a hundred bucks here or there even though they get back 75% from the government at tax time.
Maybe they are not such big Supporters after all when they have to financially demonstrate that elusive support. Votes are again free.

  6. As much as I am on board with this I have a fear it will backfire. If the NDP/Liberals form into one party, as they should, no conservative or right of center Party will ever take office in Canada again. The change in entitlements is right, but is it politically smart? Time will tell. Unlikely they are savvy enough to pull off what the Alliance and PC Parties did.
After the Republican loss in the November election, a Party spokesman stated that they would now go back to the grassroots and seek direction to reform.
Nothing like that from our own Liberals or NDP. Statements from McCallum, Goodale and Layton just heap crap on the CPC and Harper. This tax change will force them to consult their supporters, and force those supporters to think. Expending Money sometimes helps to clear one’s mind of claptrap.

  7. Just on news of the announcement to curtail public funding of political parties I contributed to the Conservatives. There is something about putting one’s money where one’s mouth is that has been perverted by having my money put where Layton’s or May’s mouth is and I don’t like it. If they cannot get support from their ‘supporters’ I really have to wonder whether anyone really believes in what they are advocating.

  8. Wouldn’t you have to pay taxes to get a deduction from a donation. AH HA.. could this be the source of the elusive “underground economy” that takes but never gives back?

  9. DonnaB I wish I’d said that, love it, it fits perfectly, they must be so proud of each other.

  10. Exactly Gunney99.
This acctually may benefit the Liberals if they can survive it. It will force them to return to grassroot for funding and kill the elitism entrenched within the party of Entitlements.
The NDP would be smart to either support outright or propose an ammendment to say half of the current credit.
Either way PM Harper is a genius.

  11. BTW Kate,
One of the American Prime Ministers advisers wants the GST to be raised again. Wonder if Ignatieff agrees with this?

  12. Socialists have the “entitlement” mentality wired into their DNA. They think the world owes them a living. They believe they have a right to whatever is in your pocket. The next socialist who reaches into my pocket is going to end up with a bloody stump.

  13. “If the NDP/Liberals form into one party, as they should”
They will not. Those two parties have no love for each other, and I’d bet significant numbers of members who would walk if they tried it.
“This acctually may benefit the Liberals if they can survive it. It will force them to return to grassroot for funding and kill the elitism entrenched within the party of Entitlements.”
Exactly – that would actually be a good thing, for the Liberals and for the country. That party has been a rotting wound on the body politic of the country for a long time now. It needs to be cleansed … or amputated.

  14. Say isn’t Pat Martin the guy that cried about losing CWB jobs in Winnipeg and didn’t care about the human rights of western farmers being abused/denied by the Canadian Wheat Board?
And now Martin isn’t happy that it is his ox being gored.
Go suck on a lemon Martin, you earned it big boy.

  15. Well, every time I think about giving money to the NDP I can’t help thinking about all the starving children in the world who need the money more than the NDP does and so I inevitably end up using the money to help the starving children. Since conservatives don’t care about starving children they give their money to Dear Leader.
That is one of the fundamental differences between the left and the right. The left uses their money to try and save the world while the right uses their money to try and rule the world.
Glad I could clear that up for you.

  16. “It must be absolute hell when you cannot convince your ‘Supporters’ to give a hundred bucks here or there even though they get back 75% from the government at tax time.”
It’s not even a hundred bucks. Each vote is worth just under $2 so a $10 donation should more than cover the lost revenue over a four year term.
Kelly Mcparland in the National Post has an excellent article titled “Stephen Harper, evil genius”
    http://network.nationalpost.com/np/blogs/fullcomment/archive/2008/11/27/kelly-mcparland-stephen-harper-evil-genius.aspx
Meanwhile in the Post – this story: “Greens say federal subsidy cancellation ‘threatens our very existence'”

  17. That’s very nice to hear about you Robert.
However, I’ll be watching for batb to present you with the facts to prove you wrong on your random insult to conservatives.Stats will back her up.

  18. Bobby McC likes the false dilemma:
“…every time I think about giving money to the NDP I can’t help thinking about all the starving children in the world who need the money more than the NDP does and so I inevitably end up using the money to help the starving children. Since conservatives don’t care about starving children they give their money to Dear Leader.”
Sorry to pop your balloon. Conservatives give more to charity than liberals. They also take people out of entitlement circumstances and mindsets – like, oddly enough, making sure the government doesn’t kill the goose.

  19. Man, seeing all the leftists heads exploding tells me that this isn’t just a good idea for freedom, but it also makes for great entertainment!

  20. I know I’m not supposed to comment on trolls but RM’s comment was humorous… the left donates to charity? News to me. And RM you grasped the underlying point (although I’m sure unintentionally) it’s you’re money to do as you please. I would like the same when it comes to the support of political parties. NO public funding!

  21. This is a good start to “leading by example”, and let’s hope they continue by cutting from the top, the many unnecessary layers of the bureaucracy in health care.
And I DO NOT mean laying off the workers who actually deliver the services.

  22. Robert McClellandsays: “That is one of the fundamental differences between the left and the right. The left uses their money to try and save the world while the right uses their money to try and rule the world.”
Yeah.. well, sorry, but in fact, your exactly wrong.
The 20/20 program on ABC investigated this issue and, they reported:
“It turns out that this idea that liberals give more…is a myth. Of the top 25 states where people give an above average percent of their income, 24 were red states in the last presidential election.
Arthur Brooks, the author of “Who Really Cares,” says that “when you look at the data, it turns out the conservatives give about 30 percent more.” He adds, “And incidentally, conservative-headed families make slightly less money.”

    Huh..
I’ll tell you what else.. this Conservative took his money and started his own business.. and now has 20 employees who feed their families and pay taxes.. that’s what Conservatives do with their money..
    Asshole.

  23. Every time I think about donating to the Conservative Party, I think about the starving children too, Rob, but then I do something else: I donate to both. I give my money to the children and to organizations that help them and since I dont have enough money to share with both, I give the Conservative Party my time, which I feel is just as valuable as my money. After all, I couldnt stand putting in time with kids, I hate children.

  24. On Mike Duffy live, Fife and Oliver are white with rage !! They simply cannot contain themselves. They support ‘On The Dole’ for political parties.

  25. I think it will come as a surprise to most people that taxpayer money is given to political parties and I can’t imagine, once learning of this program, that too many would complain of its demise.
People who believe that government should do everything, believe that they already pay government to be charitable and so they do not personally need to be charitable. Robert, I’m prepared to believe you’re an exception but … speak for yourself.

  26. “The right” wants to be left alone to make and sell things, and do with the proceeds as they wish. “The left” brings confiscatory taxation, bloated and useless bureaucracy, unemployment thanks to union inflexibility, gulags, collectivist famines, intolerance, prejudice in the form of affirmative action, rewards for the nonproductive, etc, … in other words, the left has to put the heel of its jackboot on the neck of the productive in order to cajole the population into accepting primacy of the collective over the individual. History is replete with examples thereof.
The notion that the right gets its jollies from ruling others is not only risible, it is projection of the worst kind, from the much favored and noble “F the Joooos” troll, no doubt thoroughly exercised and foaming over the financial threat looming over his beloved Ever-Marginal “Democrats”.

  27. Haven’t you people learned that RM’s a self-righteous troll?  He’s well-informed enough to know better when he makes outrageous, reality-challenged statements like the ones above, but says ’em anyways to piss you folks off.
Ignore him.  He won’t go away, but he also won’t get nearly as much satisfaction.
    Garth

  28. Meanwhile, Barack Obama has proven to be unequaled in fund raising while McCain floundered on public funding. Liberals well-heel thyselves!

  29. hey robert mcClelland
which right wing Christian organization do you donate to when helping the children.
    idiot!

  30. I heard Bob Fife compare what Harper was doing to what Putin does in Russia. WOW So apparently, if a political party

  31. There is a nice sleeper benefit here too. There will be 10’s of millions less available to parties to spend on the MSM during an election. They are rats in a corner being starved, so they will be squealing loudly about this.

  32. McClelland…’Glad I could clear that up for you.’
Just to clear up the persistant fog in your little narrow mind McC…, its a proven fact that conservatives on average contribute 3 times what Libs/socialists contribute to charities.
    CRB

  33. Of course this is war. ‘Has to be.
The OTHER parties, Librano$$$, Dipper$$$, Blockhead$$$, and Greenie$$$, all depend far too heavily on taxpayer subsidies–not on the financial support of their own supporters, for crying out loud. Why should I, a CPC supporter, subsidize parties I would never vote for, and moreoever, one party whose sole purpose is to break Canada up and another, which doesn’t even have a sitting member in the HOC.
Something’s rotten in the state of Canukistan–and it’s not the CPC’s motion. They’re the ones trying to get rid of the garbage, which Canadians have been paying for, for way too long.

  34. Thanks, bluetech!! I see that others have more than adequately trounced RM’s asinine, uninformed and, as usual, vacuous, insult to the generosity of c/Conservatives.
The lefties always rely on OTHER people’s money to do works of charity, never their own. ‘Couldn’t make any sacrifices because, after all, they’re entitled to their entitlments.

  35. So instead of PMSH being compared to GWB, now he is going to be compared to “Putin” for his new administration.
    Taliban Jack always a keeper.
Dion, I don’t think puffin poop was so bad.
Anyhoo, I donate to the Conservatives of my own free will. Hope he cuts more and more into $1.95 as the recession deepens. Keep it up PMSH, during hard times we Canadians should have the entertainment of watch the oppisition parties squeeling like starving pigs at the public trough.

  36. Wow,first RB then Fife and Oliver. Shades of the Exorcist. The pea soup should be spewing from their mouths shortly if it hasn’t already.
    /get a beer
    //grab some popcorn
    ///enjoy the show

  37. As Canadian taxpayers we will all be DELIGHTED not to fund the Puffin crooks and the Blocistas who have been living off the rest of Canada (esp. the west) for years. Anna Kingsly, over at Jack’s Newswatch gave PMSH a new name: “Working Genius”, I really like that name. As for the Dippers….no more strikes. Hah, Happy song. I love the MSM rage, they ask the opposition for all their information (never the government) let ’em whine, and whine…nothing to see there folks those chillins don’t have any information because they are not the government.

“On Mike Duffy live, Fife and Oliver are white with rage !! They simply cannot contain themselves. They support ‘On The Dole’ for political parties.
Hey Ron in Kelowna – It played exactly the same in Ontario.
Those two dorks are simply mouthpieces for the Liberals/ Nd’s and God forbid in effect shilling for Duceppes Blockheads to keep on the taxpayer teat.
    Talk about corrupt MSM.
    CTV in spades!!

  39. The parties of tyrants NDP, BLOC, LIBERALS as usual begging for money they would never receive by party members. After all there in to make money, not spend their own.
So of course they look to shear the Canadian sheep instead of rely on funds from supporters.
They can’t even reform the Party of the Mob with new members. Obviously even they know what there trying to do is not supported by Canadians, nor their fantasies of Utopia by harassment in the name of Human rights tolerance.
They couldn’t build an out house let alone an honest Political party. Look how they have corroded our institutions into bureaucratic fiefs.
Run by the inmates of the funny farm of political correctness.

  40. McClelland writes:
“That is one of the fundamental differences between the left and the right. The left uses their money to try and save the world while the right uses their money to try and rule the world.”
Mr. McClelland, you should take December off from posting online and spend the month reflecting on how ignorant a person you really are.

  41. Corporations should be banned from donating money. That is where the Tories get their funding. That’s good for the Tories but bad for the people onf Canada. The other 78% who didn’t vote Tory.

  42. ok4ua – I believe you have your “facts” wrong. Saying it doesn’t make it true. Back it up with something other than opinion, buster.

  43. This idea is sweeter than honey covered high fructose corn syrup.
Watching the left wing (media included) exploding heads over this, is the moccacino frappucino cappucino chaser.

  44. Hey okedokee, corporate (and union) political dontations are banned in Canada; Chretien did that along with the $1.95 per vote per year law.

  45. ok4ua I hate to break it to you but corporations are already banned from donating and the Conservatives collect money from average working stiffs. Keep on with the myths if you want to but your ignorance is showing.
