Reader Tips

Good evening ladies and gentlemen, welcome to SDA Late Nite Radio. Tonight, for your delectation and pursuant to our Tuesday night vintage music show, here are Glenn Miller and his Orchestra, with Tex Beneke, Paula Kelly, The Modernaires, the Nicholas Brothers, and Dorothy Dandridge performing Chattanooga Choo Choo & Part 2 (from the film Sun Valley Serenade, 1941, 4:43 + 3:36). And, yes, that is the inimitable Mr. Milton Berle in the background 😉

Update: I forgot; SDA Late Nite Radio DJ EBD mailed me a note pointing out that in addition to the fascinating value of last night‘s video presentation (my words, not his) there is available in the Interwebothique the original audio track of Bob Dylan‘s You Gotta Serve Somebody from his 1979 album Slow Train Coming (5:22).

Your Reader Tips are, as always, welcome in the comments.

  4. Equivocating Rob? I hope not.
It appears Rob Nicholson the Justice Minister is not too receptive to killing the HRC’s Section 13.
Fobbing it off to some committee in a minority parliament is not too promising in my view.
Take a minute to phone Rob Nicholson via Canada Information 1-866-599-4999. its a free call.

  5. h/t: CNN: Mumbia India, Two hotels bombed, gas station and train station attacked as well. Hotels were full of westerns, hostages. Just reported at least 9 sites have been attacked. Live on CNN.

  6. Breaking news on cbc. Cruikshank is leaving,as reported by Susan Bonner, while cbc had a picture of their little sweetheart Omar in the background.Isn’t it ironic?

  7. National News Watch: (link will not get through filter…)
Maybe, Carlton has decided to re “think” their plan on omitting this (CF fund raising) I think that they read SDA!

  8. “Merry Christmas Canada from someone who refuses to look at the glass as ninety percent empty. To me it’s always more than half full, especially when I get to sip it from the greatest goblet in the world. The strength, the intelligence and the generosity of the Canadian people. I have said to you before that real leaders, real achievers have one thing in common. Optimism, especially when many around you are losing their heads. Please don’t let the Dr. Dooms sell you their toxic assets. You have one asset that is resourceful, and bountiful and beautiful. It’s your own mind. Never surrender it. Never accept the invitation to the Panic Party. Never cave to the cave dwellers.
    I’m Charles Adler”
    …-
“Refuse to Attend the Panic Party
    “Stocks Build on Recent Rally”
This is one of several headlines that are getting not very much attention these days because most media folks continue to pick the low hangin’ fruit and follow the path of least resistance to your emotions…giving you almost nothing but bad news and bad spin designed to keep you in perpetual fear.
The Stock Market in New York, which is still the key capital market in the world has been on a four day tear. Last Friday and Monday it went up by more than 12 percent…and we haven’t seen that kind of move in more than 20 years!
There were also some retail sales numbers in Canada released yesterday. The headline was: “Retail sales for September climbed far more than expected.” Yes, when you expect horrible things your expectations are likely to be surpassed. Auto sales which have been tanking in the U.S. were up in Canada, yes I said up.”

  9. I just hope this is true. There is a story at NN that links to ctv ,that says that Flaherty will cut the handout to parties on the basis of their vote count. This may trigger an election. The parties are about to have their head pulled away from the public teat. The screaming will be loud and incessant, with Lizzie being the shrillest.Imagine their horror at the prospect of actually having to hustle for their budgets. http://www.ctv.ca/servlet/ArticleNews/story/CTVNews/20081126/party_budgets_081126/20081126?hub=TopStories. BTW,my first cut and paste.Next I will be making paragraphs.Maybe.
