For all those people talking about Harper being able to get things done now, “It’s the committees stupid!” Voting was not the problem, everyone watched as the loyal opposition rolled over time and time again. The problem was in the committees where the the opposition deliberately subverted the Conservative agenda through procedural ill will. That situation, while improved, has not been fixed. Until the Conservatives have a chance at getting their agenda through the committees nothing is really going to change.

Canadian Liberals, NDP and Greens: Form an Alliance. Please!
The idea is quite simple: Canadian Liberals, NDPs, Greens – get over your differences and form an alliance in order to defeat the conservatives in the next election. Liberals: your glory days are over, you need need this more than anybody else. NDP: even with all your excellent policies, will you ever be able to form a government? Greens: even if you finally win that one seat, your voice will be much larger as part of the government.
Rather than mixing red, orange and green and get the Canadian Brown Party, get creative. Perhaps parties could retain their unique flavour and still be part of an official alliance. The new alliance could be called something like the New Canadian Party and you’d have the Canadian Party Liberal, Canadian Party NDP and Canadian Party Green. Riding candidates could be strategically allocated based on candidate popularity and previous voting numbers. CP-Liberals would run 52% of the candidates, CP-NDP would run 36% and the CP-Greens 12%.
With this kind of cooperation, the new party is surely to win the next election. And the Greens and NDP finally get to form part of the Canadian government. The only problem is the parties’ instinct for self preservation and pride, especially the NDP. But after this latest loss, I hope they will be able to get past their differences and get it right.

I am under the impression that Pierre Lemieux was the incumbent in this riding and won it from the liberals on a close race last time, I understand he was reelected this time as well, at least it said so on election night.
Can’t access it through Elections Canada with our postal code though, won’t recognize it.
In fact we only got pertinent election and voting information from Lemieux’s office not EC.
EC was very difficult to contact and they seemed very confused as to whom our MP was.
Oh GOD I hope they pick Trudeau as their overlord.
He will be a bigger gift than Dion ever was.

Biff, given the response from the school administration, I suggest the following.
1. Complete the project. Clearly the administration building is the place where these things can safely be filmed, so she should have lots of footage of the office that letter was sent from, and maybe have somebody do some lines off the Dean’s and the President’s desks. Also the desk of the professor who set the project, the hood of his car, his dog, and etc. Drive home the point that these behaviors are solidly administration approved. Make it funny.
2. Youtube it. Kate can probably arrange a really WIDE viewership for you, if you ask her.
Running to the authorities is not going to work in the academic world these days, because they are the source of your sister’s problem. Endangering their funding by exposing them to international infamy and ridicule, now that could be effective.
If they’re too tall to hit them in the chin, hit them in the wallet. It will hurt more.

ABC News reports on Joe the Plumber, who seems to be the most effective spokesman for the McCain tax position… Joe is now everywhere explaining why raising taxes on little businesses is wrong. He is now a handy reference point for the argument that Obama’s tax scheme is not just going to impact Warren Buffett. (Obama never did answer in the debate why he’s raising anyone’s taxes.)

This is seven points more than George W. Bush’s highest reading in 2000 and the worst since Michael Dukakis’s 56% unqualified rating in 1988. It explains why Mr. Obama has ignored Democratic giddiness and done two things to keep victory from slipping away…

Barack Obama has raised real questions about his judgment and experience.
Sen. Obama told a Jewish group he supports an undivided Jerusalem, only to flip-flop the very next day. (MSNBC.com, 6/6/08) Another time, Obama called his support for an undivided Jerusalem a “poor phrasing” of words. (Jerusalem Post, 7/14/08)
Obama himself has pointed out that “words matter.” And they do, especially to people who care about the future of Israel. And they mattered earlier this year, when Obama stated, “Nobody is suffering more than the Palestinian people.” (Politico.com, 3/13/07)
Sen. Barack Obama surrounds himself with a number of individuals and advisors who are hostile to Israel and American Jews. These men have played instrumental roles in shaping Sen. Obama’s world views. They include Zbigniew Brzezinski, General Tony McPeak and Reverend Jeremiah Wright. All are known for their anti-Israel views.
Obama has not shown the wisdom, experience or strength to stand up to the people who would do us harm.
