    It apparently takes more than a government investigation and the threat of fines to keep a priest in Canada from speaking his mind about biblical issues. Father Alphonse de Valk, who WND reported just days ago is the target of a Human Rights Commission case over his biblical references regarding homosexuality, now is warning of an educational agenda to be implemented in support of “gay” pairs.
    In a column at Catholic Insight, de Valk writes under the headline “Fascism has come to Canada” that the Department of Education in British Columbia plans in September to “introduce the mandatory teaching of SSM [same-sex marriage] from kindergarten to grade 12 in provincial schools.
    “It is a first for a province in Canada to claim the right to determine moral teaching in schools when the vast majority of its citizens reject it as unscientific and contrary to the common good,” he wrote.
    “So we move from [former Prime Minister Pierre] Trudeau’s 1967 slogan ‘there is no place for the state in the bedrooms of the nation’ – falsely used to destroy traditional morality – to the new slogan that the state will determine people’s moral thinking.”
    WND had reported just days earlier that de Valk and his publication were being investigated by the nation’s Human Rights Commission as a potential criminal for quoting from the Bible.
    Pete Vere, a canon lawyer and Catholic journalist, has reported on the prosecution of de Valk at CatholicExchange.com.

    Going along with Jema54’s description of Mark Steyn as a “Herculean intellectual power,” all one can say about the CTV crew, the CBC crew, the Global crew, the Probe and Fail crew, etc. ad nauseum, is that they are intellectual and moral pygmies.
    And they’re one of the top reasons why Canada is the Banana Republic it is–not on its way to becoming any longer. The MSM flying monkeys hate Mark Steyn because he actually has a whole hand on our pulse and they’ve completely missed the “Deranged Dominion” diagnosis.

    The Calgary Herald has come out with back-to-back major pieces as regards the HRCs – Friday focused on the AB HRC and Sat focuses on the federal CHRC.
    The little MO is building and we can only hope it will turn into the Big MO. Time for some organizations like the ATA (Alberta Teacher’s Assoc.) to come out with a principled, public stand along with others. While teacher’s have a vested interest in operating like the three monkeys, it is their students who will be paying the price if the HRC issues are not dealt with now. Time to stand up and be counted!

    At 50, I found that life did change (things start “to go,” including parents…who die) but not for the worst. You realize that you’re probably over middle-age, and you start to think about life not going on forever, but, occasionally, someone gives you a seat in an overcrowded bus… 😉

  42. glasnost, Aviator; thanks for the response. The point I was getting at is that our air force back in the 50’s and 60’s was larger than the total Canadian Armed Forces today. During one graduation Parade in St Jean’s I did a rough count of well over 1200 trainee students on the parade square (RCAF Only).
    Today the population of Canada is roughly 40% larger than then and the Country should certainly have the wealth to at least equal this feat.
    By the way, several of the aircraft in service back then were not in the slide show. Perhaps they had been phased out by 1968.
