  1. Here is something else not getting any National media coverage: Mr. Dingwall’s (and Canada Post’s) refusal to say what Dingwall did to merit being paid nearly $300,000. So where are the outraged Liberal cries for a public enquiry? I think the public deserves to know what was involved in such a deal.

  2. Dingwall was working for the mint. He recieved the payout on Jan.20th,the friday before Monday’s election. It was not reported by the media. I wonder if the timing was to keep daveyboy quiet? Andre Oullet was the fellow from Canada Post. All he did was spend an average of $1,000 a day without reciepts. He was working on the ‘honour system’.

  3. Wallyj — I don’t think the Dingwall piece is about the buyout, but about some contract deal between Ouilette and Dingwall’s company. Basically a lot of money changing hands between senior Liberals and — surprise, surprise — no accountability. If Mulroney can get targetted for a totally private business deal, how come no enquiry for Dingwall’s secret deal with the Post Office?

I must confess to reading with some amusement some of the comments that were posted on a multitude of websites in the blogosphere about last night’s program with Mark Steyn and the “Maclean’s Three.”
So much of it was inaccurate. But I guess it reflected the constantly shifting sands that were under our feet as we tried to put that program together….
….So at this point, we had agreement for a one-on-one with Steyn, plus a three-on-one discussion following. Then, Steyn’s publicists saw our website indicating who would be on the debate and offered to have the author join the debate. Wodek communicated that offer to the “Maclean’s Three,” who rejected it.
They said there wasn’t enough time to prepare. Moreover, they felt Steyn was getting his time alone, and they wanted theirs…..
….If you saw last night’s program, you’ll know that all of our best laid plans, in the end, didn’t matter…..

Trustee expenses have ballooned since 2003 and are now among the highest in the province – $100,000 per elected trustee compared with $67,000 in the Toronto public board and just $27,000 in the Dufferin-Peel Catholic board – because of the extra benefits and services trustees gave themselves, says provincial adviser Norbert Hartmann in his report Enhancing Public Trust and Confidence, released yesterday
Oliver Carroll, former chair and now budget chief, said the Hartmann report “sums up exactly what went wrong” and agrees there is a culture of entitlement.
