The feedback from the judges explaining why they had rejected the CD-Rom highlighted that they “could not recommend this product to the Muslim community”.
They also warned that the story might “alienate parts of the workforce (building trade)”.
The judges criticised the stereotyping in the story of the unfortunate pigs: “Is it true that all builders are cowboys, builders get their work blown down, and builders are like pigs?”

It was several years ago that my wife and I decided to home-school our children. Silicon Valley Jim – I stand corrected on Jefferson and his non-role in writing the Constitution, but, he was the most influential of the founders and did address the issue of the tyranny of the minority in his writings. I always put him with the Constitution as well as the Bill of Rights which he did author, my mental laziness.

I agree with Manley, but I am hard pressed to reconcile how executing a young journalist for “violating the tenets of Islam” is consistent with the values Manley so eloquently articulated. This is a very discouraging disconnect. I am fighting the urge to believe that we should just simply write the place off completely for now, and then deal decisively and strategically with it, when the inevitable return to power of the Taliban occurs.
I hope I won’t be thinking the same thing about the mother country ten years from now.

Many large cities have had public art exhibitions using their totem animals: Calgary had Udderly Art cows spread throughout the city; Jerusalem had lions; etc.
Yet we have a World Class City — indeed, a MegaCity — which is traditionally associated with pigs but cravenly chose a moose theme for its art exhibition. I was reading in the complaints against Mark Steyn brought forward by those muslim nutjobs, and I couldn’t help but burst out laughing. They said that because of what Mark wrote, that people were saying muslims were sheep shaggers. Page nine or ten in that great big mother of a complaint.
That is stealing as far as I am concerned. Everyone knows that paticular cultural quirk is the exclusive trademark of the Scottish people.
Whatever one perceives the “culture of rights” to be, there is no such thing as the right to not be offended. Britain has slowly eroded the freedoms it fought for for hundreds of years, and it has surrendered them without firing a shot.
By all means respect human rights, but do not interpret them in this warped way. By all means tolerate and protect minorities, but don’t assume you have to shield them from everything.
The current trend in Britain is a recipe for disaster as it erodes the social fabric, isolating individuals from each other and from the state. Thank God I moved away!

I agree, there is a disconnect there. And perhaps if the trillions of dollars spent on this particular ME strategy were instead spent on creating something superior to petroleum. And if there was no Muslim immigration – I doubt there would be any Islam related problems. Other than giving them billions of dollars a year to feed their people.
