  8. It’s more and more likely that we’ll have a fall election. Not because we need one. We don’t; the Conservatives are the best gov’t we’ve had in a generation.
    But, the Liberals are desperate for one; they have to get rid of the man they elected as their leader – Dion. And they have no way, in their constitution, of doing so, other than by losing an election – enabling them to have a leadership review.
    The Bloc want one too- even though they’ll lose seats, they want one earlier rather than later. Why? Because now that Layton and the NDP are seeing themselves as the Future Opposition, the Bloc is worried that the NDP will, given even a year, move more strongly into Quebec, and take seats from them. The Bloc is resigned to losing seats outside of Montreal to the Conservatives. But Montreal is a leftist, socialist dream – even if federal – and the Bloc is worried that the NDP will move into Montreal with its socialism and federalism.
    The NDP want an election – at any time – because they want to take out the Liberals and Bloc in Montreal. And, they also are focusing on taking Liberals seats in Ontario as the Liberals implode everywhere.
    The Liberals are imploding because they have long ago forgotten that in order to be a political party, and to govern, you require policies. You require an agenda of ‘what you will do’. The Liberals, so long accustomed to ruling by Natural Right, abandoned policies many years ago. Instead, they turned to manipulation of the people.
    First -To the Liberals – Canada consists only of Ontario and Quebec. The rest is peripheral. This is the view of 1950.
    Then, They divided the country into two linguistically adversarial groups. This set up a climate of fear of breaking up the country. To deal with this, they set up Ontario as forever fearful of this and ready and willing to hand over vast sums. And Quebec moved into perpetual victimhood, making more and more demands. Bribing Quebec became a guarantee of Liberal votes.
    Then, to deal with the ROC, the Liberals set up multiculturalism, a strategy that balkanizes all immigrant groups into adversarial and isolate blocks. Each group was b ribed to vote Liberal by massive funding.
    The Liberals sought out other distinct groups to isolate and fund for their loyalty – women’s grouops, gays, – and stacked the universities with the left by their control of all research funds in Canada. And – their control of the MSM.
    And- above all, their consistent anti-Americanism, used as a strategy to ‘hold Canada together’ by defining ‘what we are not’.
    But – despite this essential dictatorship, Canada has changed. The West, long (happily) ignored by the Liberals, has emerged as the econmic might of Canada. And it did it by itself, not by Liberal bribes.
    Quebec has matured out of victimhood and is no longer interested in the old federal-separation argument. It wants to get going economically.
    Ontario is lost – it has lost its old role of stabilizing Canada by being loyal to Liberal appeasement of Quebec. There’s nothing to appease – and Ontario only knows that one role.
    So- the Liberals still don’t have any policies, they still are stuck in the 1960-80s. And their agenda is still only about power. Not the good of Canada. Just political power.
    So- there’ll be an election. Not for the good of Canada. But for pure political partisan reasons.

  13. Our dollar reaching par must be serious. CNN just did a story on it, showing the loonie, and explaining the tooney. Main thrust I got was, it is no longer a bonus to go to canada for holidays etc.

  17. The Windsor Star Poll is at odds with the gist of the story below outlining the flood of Mexicans showing up in Windsor claiming refugee status.
    The big question is whether or not the 220+ that have arrived are just the tip of the iceberg.
    If a person claims refugee status, they are in, a review later determines if they get to stay.
    Until that is complete, the ‘refugee’ claimants get full funding, medical etc.
    It’s worth reading the whole story.

  18. I think using “devout Muslims” instead of radical Islamists is brilliant and I for one will adopt this usage from now on. As every Muslim knows in his/her heart, there is no place in Islam for “moderate Muslims”, so the reaction should be interesting.

    Flip has found almost $2.6 million in campaign contributions to a myriad of Democratic candidates, PACs, and interest groups connected to Hsu. He details them on a spreadsheet he’s put together at his website
    Flip asks the big questions “1) where is Hsu — a convicted con man and fugitive with no documented ability to turn a legitimate buck — getting these gobs of money, and 2) why is he squandering it on all these Democrats?”
    Obviously, this looks like a massive money laundering operation. This dwarfs almost any campaign finance scandal in history. (free republic) …-

  29. The BQ ultimatum is a sham. It’s not brinkmanship it’s positioning.
    If you haven’t seen, the BQ have made 5 non-negotiable demands. Look carefully though and outside of their demand for “retrait” from Afghanistan there’s nothing that they would really fall on their swords over.
    The only-vote getter outside of Montreal is the demand for the restriction of the federal spending power – something already expected to be in the throne speech.
    Duceppe is just positioning himself to take credit for Tory policy.

  31. Just saw that stupid commercial where liar McGuinty is talking about what a “tough decision” it was for him to break his promise and raise taxes. What a load! As soon as he found out there was a deficit inherited from the previous government, he raised taxes and then went on a spending spree! He increased spending every year, and all the while complained about the deficit he inherited. Then he had the nerve to vote himself a $40,000 a year raise! This guy is unbelievable!
