City officials attack NDP attack ads;
TV, billboards, radio ads but NOT on city transit.
The City of Regina has quickly pulled the latest ad campaign by the NDP that depicts the Saskatchewan Party as a wolf in sheeps clothing.
The reason for that, according to the GM of Community and Protective services with the city is they ran counter to city guidelines.
The city also prohibits advertising that presents a demeaning and derogatory portrayal of a group. Spokesperson Bonnie Bryant believes the ads were clearly meant to send that very message.
Well, how about that? 40 years of campaigning by leftist environmentalists to rebrand wolves as misunderstood good guys comes back to bite them in the butt.
(Note – sure, it’s possible that the City of Regina doesn’t want to participate in a “demeaning and derogatory portrayal” of the Sask Party – just as it’s possible that I’m Little Red Riding Hood.)
My, what BIG WHITE teeth you have Grandma Kate! 🙂
Negative ad campaigns always backlash. Let them spin…they’re sending voters to SP.
What’s left, portray them as a bunch of exploding suicide bombers?
“We promised you 72 virgins, but they turned out to be just raisins.”
OOPS!
Note to Lorne: The Wolf in Sheep’s Clothing idea is going nowhere. Time to pull out the “Vast Right Wing Conspiracy” plan.
Hmm… I wonder if the fact that the mayor’s brother is running for the Sask Party going to come in to play.
We shall see how the NDP reacts.
Hey Red, what’s in the basket?
Jeez, and I thought Ontario was bad!
You guys in Sask. deserve our deepest sympathy.
Droll, Kate – very droll.
Good for the City of Regina to have the stones to tell the NDP where to take thier lame ads!! The election can’t come soon enough.
Kate, speaking of something to hide, did you notice that the WHOIS on sameoldsakparty.ca has been changed? It now shows an anonymous listing instead of the deputy. Lorne, NOW WHO has SOMETHING to hide?
I guess these frickkin bone heads don’t know there is other ways to find out ownership of domains (but I’ll be saving that for the next great ‘outing’).
Sask Party family ties to the current Regina city council are, of course, a complete coincidence, and have nothing to do with the city’s decision.
Who are Tony Fiacco and Bill Hutchinson related to again?
You guys in Sask. deserve our deepest sympathy.

And once Kate’s Sask Party hooyas gain power, we’re gonna need it.
On;y stupid people who allow themselves to become a sheep need worry about wolves.
If the Dips are leading sheep they are also sheering them and getting fat on mutton….the wolves are just more honest in their approach to using sheep.
Well… Hmm… gosh I’m torn. Do I want a Govnt. that reduces my taxes? DIW a Govt. that welcomes investors to create jobs and wealth?
Or… DIW a Govt. that creates red tape, rewards beauracrats and see’s all as Gerbils to be babysat? DIW a Govt. that threatens, taxes, and discourages capitol investors?
Being from Alberta, we are in dire need of able bodied labour. Yet if the SP gets in then my province could suffer even more labourer shortages. On the other hand, if Pastor Lorne stays in power, the west suffers. Oh what a dillema.
Okay let Sask become independant and strong, SP it is.
The scare campaign is already getting a little, ahem, long in the tooth.
It’s interesting, but not surprising, that a socialist party would cast ‘the people’ it wants to lead in the role of sheep. But it’s not my political guts that are being chopped up into haggis right now.
Want to really scare people???
Put Lorne’s old teeth in the wolf’s mouth…….
the city said the decision was made based on advice from its legal department that the ads contravened the city’s advertising policy.
That policy states “advertising shall not reflect a viewpoint on politics.”
During the last federal election campaign, Regina city buses ran partisan political advertising. It would be interesting to know when this policy was adopted.
We have a very right wing city hall as of now.

Why else do you think the City of Regina has been doing so well the last few years?
Due to millions of dollars given to the city by the province and federal gov’ts. Mega projects. My quality of life is still the same. My taxes have gone up every year for the past 10 years. There has been a lot of federal tax dollars and provincial tax dollars to the tune of 40 million dollars or so. The taxpayers footed the bill. On another note if the equalization payment was larger the city would’ve had even more money.
You know it is going to be a rough election when they are starting it out with a mud slinging campaign like that….. are we really supposed to be afraid of that? it looks kind of funny.
Hey ok4ua,
If your quality of life is still the same and your taxes have gone up every year for the past ten years, can you please tell me who was in power both federally and provincially?
There’s your answer. And, even more importantly, the reason the NDP need to go provincially and the Libs need to be kept on the sidelines in Ottawa.
City hall is NDP light. It was worse under Schnieder and Devine. The only good Tory is a dead one.
