  1. CBC radio this morning urgently reports another Canadian death. It then reminds us precisely how many have died, including those in road accidents. It then goes on to list all Canadians casualties over the last two weeks.
Then it announces a Taliban internet message “to call for the Afghan people to fight the foreign invader” or some such.
Given that very few Afghan people are likely to be on the internet, this message was clearly aimed at people who are: Canadians for example. Therefore, the CBC is purveying enemy propaganda.

  2. There is JVD; here is the other VD, Mamie.
Moonbats love her. Mamie is still above ground?
Not even Mikey Harris, President of BDS, Canadian Chapter, would/could write moonbattery as good as Mamie’s scatology. Does Mamie have a ghost writer?

    Blonde Bombshell Contracts BDS
Sex goddess Mamie Van Doren, co-star of one of my all-time favorite films—Francis Joins the WACs—is still alive and kicking, but unfortunately she’s contracted a raging, possibly terminal case of Bush Derangement Syndrome. As you read this quote from her blog, try imagining Francis the Talking Mule saying it. It’s funnier that way. …-

As far as Maude Barlow is concerned she to is water what Wendy Cukier is to guns.

  4. Keeeerist will the sick anti CAF bias in CBC news editorial ranks ever hit the wall…when will they breech the tolerance point with the public where nebulous lefty anti war rhetoric has turned to aiding our enemies with paranoid divisive propaganda.

  5. I hope this one ends up as no holds barred, knock ’em down drag ’em out bout, bringing down both of them:
CAIR Says ADL Seeks to Hinder Legal Rights of U.S. Muslims
Pro-Israel group ‘smears’ coalition advocating due process for Texas Muslim charity
A prominent national Islamic civil rights and advocacy group today accused the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) of seeking to hinder the due process rights of American Muslims by using “smears and exclusionary tactics” that exploit growing Islamophobia in American society.
The Washington-based Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) said those smears appeared in a recent ADL news release targeting members of a coalition defending the legal rights of officials of the Holy Land Foundation (HLF) Muslim charity currently on trial in Texas. In its release, the ADL falsely claimed that members of the coalition have been “tainted by their own murky associations with radical organizations and individuals.”
A CAIR statement issued today in reaction to the ADL’s allegations said:
“It is regrettable that the Anti-Defamation League, which claims to defend American civil liberties, would seek to exploit the growing level of Islamophobia in our society by using the same smears and exclusionary tactics that have in the past been used by anti-Semites to target the Jewish community.

  6. I think everyone should read David Frum’s column in yesterday’s national post. To me it points out where the leftovers would eventually have us all wind up. Broke and crying to anyone that will listen that we are entitled to our entitlement, an entitlement that finally dragged our society under. A segment of our society that was just too stupid, lazy and greedy to see what was coming.
As I have heard before, I wonder what all the unproductive would do if the productive said go to hell, do it yourself.

  7. Since this is an open thread —
Kate can you or your readers help out here?
National Newswatch is an emerging news aggregator in
Canada yet they never divulged the identities of the principals involved from day one.
Since they have now instigated comments I sense with some discomfort the direction they are taking the site.
    Has anyone noticed this trend?
It would be good to know who is or are the brains behind this blog.
    Just wondering.

  8. “yet they never divulged the identities of the principals involved from day one. ”
I always assumed it was Steve Janke who was behind it; are they really hiding their identities? Why? The fact that Kinsella links to it should be a klaxon call that National Newswatch isn’t on our team.

  9. “It would be good to know who is or are the brains behind this blog.”
That was meant to mean “the brains behind
    The national Newswatch blog”

  10. I wonder if we will make it to noon ( BC Time) before Taliban Jack, and Dionski start prattling about how this is all Stephen Harpers fault and we should tuck out tails between out legs to retreat .
I have often wondered what numbers the Canadian soldier deaths might be if the liberals had not sold the Chinook helicopters in the 90’s. it seems to me that the liberal party has blood on their corrupt hands because of that short sighted decision.
I wonder if this has ever been looked at from an unbiased point of view or is the subject taboo

  11. NOW, WHAT WAS THAT NOISE THE PEACE PINKIES WERE MAKING ABOUT REFUSING THE AIR DEFENSE SHIELD?

“Russia restores Soviet-era strategic bomber patrols – Putin-1
    18:08 | 17/ 08/ 2007
    Print version
(Recasts, adds Putin quotes, details in paragraphs 3-7)
CHEBARKUL (Urals), August 17 (RIA Novosti) – President Vladimir Putin said Russia permanently resumed Friday long-distance patrol flights of strategic bombers, which were suspended in 1992 after the collapse of the Soviet Union.
“I made a decision to restore flights of Russian strategic bombers on a permanent basis, and at 00:00 today, August 17, 14 strategic bombers, support aircraft and aerial tankers were deployed. Combat duty has begun, involving 20 aircraft.”
The president, speaking on the final day of military exercises involving Russia, China, and four Central Asian countries in the south Urals, said that on the first day of patrol flight, bomber planes would spend about 20 hours in the air, with midair refueling, and would interact with naval forces.”
If I hear any more Leftard sophistry about American “imperialism” when this remobilizing of the communist empires joint war machine is going on, I’ll bitch slap them back to reality.

It’s interesting to see everybody pick sides on the various issues…
I mean, is this a good news or a bad news story?

“That’s good condition, considering,” Const. Beattie said. “He ended up
unintentionally cutting between the mom and the cubs, and as a result mom
got a little upset and went after him.”

I’ve gotta say though, I can’t wait for PETA to get all over his ass about not
    carrying bear spray.
But I bet they don’t do it in person.

  13. I have always wanted an explanation from the libs why they sold off our heavy lift transport helos..did they really think that there would never come a time that they would be used, even domestically?
Was it just part of the boyscout-ification of our armed forces?

  14. Yeah. wait for it, Jack-in-the-box and Asshat Dion will be popping up on a screen near you to blame Harper for the latest casualty in Afghanistan.

  15. BC Conservative, it was the Mulroney govt that sold the Chinooks. They envisioned using EH101 is a tactical role and decided to get rid of the tactical airlift. Alas, Chretien cancelled the EH101, so nothing at all. Mulroney was just another long line of PMs who decimated the military, allowing it to rust out time and time again. He started to do something about it with the helicopter purchase, but in 93 after election, Chretien ensured our path of negligence continued. We have yet to see a replacement for the replacement to this day. No doubt EH101s would have come in very handy in Afghanistan.

  16. Asshat Denie Cadour “Defence Critic” beat Taliban Jack and Dion to the media sqwaking about the soldier that was killed. The MSM are going on about the “Famed ” Van Doo regiment. What are they famous for, are the more famous than say the LDSH,PPCLI,RCR,RCD or any other CANADIAN Regiment? Check out any battle honours I would bet that they are no beter or worse than of the other CANADIAN units.

  17. Just in case anyone didn’t read it at Kathy Shaidle’s, from worldnetdaily, this exchange between a lawyer representing a website owner and Dean Steacy, an investigator for the Canadian Human Rights Commission:
Kulaszka: “Mr. Steacy, you were talking before about context and how important it is when you do your investigation. What value do you give freedom of speech when you investigate one of these complaints?”
Steacy: “Freedom of speech is an American concept, so I don’t give it any value.”
Kulaszka: “Okay. That was a clear answer.”
Steacy: “It’s not my job to give value to an American concept.”

  18. The Van Doos, what their fame is above and beyond any other regiment at any given battle, at any given time is no doubt documented and as a fighting force.
The Lefty MSM constantly refer to them as the “famed” Van Doos, they’re a fighting force so it’s hard to fathom how the Lefty Media can sing their praises when they’re all in Peace Keeping mode.
The big story is it’s a Quebec Regiment and it’s been widely reported that when Quebec soldiers start getting killed, Harper will take the fall in Quebec. Never mind it’s a Chretien/Liberal mission in the first place. This is the first tour of Afghanistan duty for them.
If the Quebec regiment is trained as combat soldiers, and are sent to a combat zone, they will have to fight and some may get killed, that’s war.
Otherwise, we’re training toy soldiers in Quebec and the regiments from the rest of the Canadian regiments can be the real thing.
God, the stupidity of the media wags in this country, boggles the mind.

  19. I agree that the Mulroney gov’t was as harmful to the military as any librano regime. I mean, joe who, flora and the rest. Pure red tories. Us true conservatives/libertarians joined the reform party for a reason. Please tell us something we do not know.

  20. Salve Mater Gaia Regina.
This is old news to readers here; but, is worth posting again.
The words “salved their consciences”* are beautiful euphemisms for “guilt”. The suckers bought into the Greenies’ indulgences swindle.
The Church of Gaia-socialist ripped the term off from the Roman Catholic Church. Indulgence: the remission of temporal punishment still due for a sin that has been sacramentally absolved. (dict.com)

Carbon offsetting schemes not so green
As millions of Britons jet off to foreign climes for their holiday this month, the more environmentally minded travellers will have salved their consciences by paying for trees to be planted to compensate for the carbon emissions caused by their flight.
But a ground-breaking study has now called into question the effectiveness of using trees to “offset” emissions, suggesting that their ability to “lock-up” carbon dioxide has been greatly exaggerated….-

  21. Garth Turner has the video of Dion’s SPP press conference, in it’s entirety here.
The best part starts around the 26 minute mark, when the press gallery gangs up on Dion over his claims that there are secret negotiations over bulk water exports to the U.S.

  22. I’ll bet this puts our mission change in Afghanistan in high gear. Park the air-conditioned tanks at the gate and get the VD’s behind the fence out of harms way. The whole world is libel to collapse if one more gets hit.

  24. BAGHDAD (AP) – The French foreign minister paid an unannounced and highly symbolic visit to Baghdad on Sunday – a gesture to the American effort in Iraq after years of icy relations over the U.S.-led invasion. Bernard Kouchner said Paris wanted to “turn the page” and look to the future.

“Now we are turning the page. There is a new perspective. We want to talk about the future. Democracy, integrity, sovereignty, reconciliation and stopping the killings. That’s my deep aim,” Kouchner said in English after meeting with Iraqi Foreign Minister Hosyhar Zebari.(AP)

    Gaza battles power cuts
Power cuts plagued the Gaza Strip anew on Monday as the European Union was reviewing whether to renew its financing of fuel deliveries for the impoverished territory’s sole power plant.
Gaza City hummed with the sound of generators and candles disappeared off supermarket shelves as residents stocked up on supplies on the fourth day of intermittent power supplies in one of the world’s most densely populated places.
