So, it turns out we’re not just paying Al Gore for his inconvenient visit, we’re buying the tickets, too.
Via email….(revealed in the Legislature)
[T]he Crown Corporations have bought a total of 584 tickets to Al Gore. That’s over 10% of the total number of tickets available, and the event is still nowhere near sold out.
Here’s the breakdown:
SaskEnergy 425
SaskTel 117
ISC 27
SGI 10
SaskPower 5
SaskEnergy says its tickets will all be given away to high school and university students and their chaperones. However, they bought $50 tickets (not the $20 student tickets) which means SaskEnergy alone spent $21,250 on tickets.
There is no indication what value of tickets the other Crowns bought, but even if they were all $50 tickets instead of $75 tickets, 584 cost $29,200.
That’s on top of the $208,000 SaskTel is paying to stage the event.

I knew someone at Sasktel and the amount of political patronage that goes on there was shocking for even someone as jaded as I am about the power that the mandarins have over our money and how it is used.
Just another example of how the NDP can waste our money without giving us a say.Time to boot them out and get this province moving forward like it should.
Govt. subsidized propoganda/bullshit.
The same here in Alberta, albeit through the UofC.
I am ashamed. I thought we had a higher intellecutal level of leftard.
I guess not…lowest common denominator and all that.

The second link is to the carbon credit company known as Generation Investment Management LLP
It shows the company capitalized at 206 million.
A nice tidy sum for the “Goreacle” and his shareholders.
Note how the investments are mostly your traditional blue chips like General Electric, Aflac the insurance company, Staples, Becton Dickinson medical supplies,Sysco food services, etc.
But no investments in the managing or control of Green House Gases because of course that would mean he actually believes in the rubbish he is spouting.
But then to actually put your money where your mouth is would mean that you would have to give up the Global Warming Swindle of Kyoto carbon credits.
They might be good at making money from investments but the portfolio as such is hardly described as a green house gas Kyoto friendly portfolio.
http://www.generationim.com/philosophy/
* Long Term Focus: A majority of a company’s value is determined by its long-run performance. Investment results for long-only equity strategies are maximized by taking a long-term investment horizon
* Integrated Sustainability Research: Sustainability issues can impact a company’s ability to generate returns and therefore must be fully integrated with fundamental equity analysis for superior long-term investment results
* High Conviction Investing: A concentrated approach allows maximum leverage of an intense research effort. We make investments only when we have high levels of conviction
In short the “Goreacle” is mostly interested in making money from those who buy into the carbon credit rubbish.
Would that be conviction of a moral point of view or conviction of the criminal point of view? Just asking. So what about those melting polar ice caps and 20 foot rise in sea levels?
The Netherlands are desperately in need of diking services!! AL GORE should make his next trip there as they would be the first to ‘Go Under’.
Why would Saskatchewan not want a warmer planet?
Al Gore should run off to The Netherlands where they are desperately in need of diking services, due to 20 foot rising sea levels!!
We should have a flood of Dutch immigrants stampeding to get out of the Lowlands.
It is all about the money. check out the SEC filing portfolio, all blue chip stuff and no management of GREEN HOUSE GASES.

More hot air and puffery. A last winter blast from the TRUE NORTH, STRONG AND FREE should keep him south of the line.
Does anyone know yet what we’re paying Michelle Muntean to do Steve Harper’s hair and make-up and choose his socks?
Can we please have an election now, Mr. Calvert? It seems to be the only way to stop you.
Tragically funny how socialists and their “enterprises” never seem to understand how the market works and thus end up subsidizing losers. Al Gore being the ultimate loser, the Sask taxpayers merely unwilling bystanders.
Kinda cute how SaskPower the biggest CO2 “polluter” in Sask buys 5 tickets (maybe some kinda protest there). Maybe this corporation at least has a clue as to why it is socially necessary to generate some “pollutants” if the population wants heat and lighting.
Of course if recent reports are true perhaps they can make an environmental investment to offset the “CO2 pollution” by cutting down and burning all your boreal forest.
Oh and where is the outrage from the Council of Canadians that a US politician is lecturing us on our sovereign right to use energy as it benefits OUR country.
I am shocked, no, outraged and devastated with a sprinkle of disbelief that such a thing could happen in our canaduh.
Al Gore is in the entertainment industry, hence his Oscar for science fiction.
The investments in his portfolio do not suggest a sudden interest in companies like Catepillar who make earth moving equipment to build bigger dikes and dams due to the huge increase in sea levels.
Man, Catepillar stock should go up like a rocket to the moon with 20 foot rising sea levels. But if you check it out Caterpillar stock went from about 79.00USD to 69.00USD since Al Gore’s film came out.
Gee the “Goreacle” needs to make more diking disciples quickly to buy up more earth moving equipment!!
Al Gore in Saskatchewan just as hundreds of boats are “locked in the ice” near Nfld. The irony is just too rich.
Slightly OT, take a peek at cbc.ca; check out the picture of smoggy TO. It looks fake or doctored!
Yeah Crabgrass ….. nobody here reads any newspapers or watches TV! You’re the first!
So Kate how’s spring time in the Gulag??
Hey CRABgrass, Prime Minister Harper is probably paying Michelle Muntean less than what any of your chosen party members are paying their handlers. Amazing that you can be sucked into that arguement when it is well known that all of the leaders have and will probably always have personal handlers. It is nothing new. Also if you are paying attention you will have seen that the way the brilliant Liberal MSM and the Liberals have come to this conclusion is that because each party gets so much money (from TAX PAYERS,thanks to your Liberals) for every vote that their parties got in the last election, therefore it is being paid for with OUR TAX dollars. Grow up and find something with some validity to inform us of, if in fact you can. If this is the best you can come up with than may I suggest you find another subject other than politics to comment on because your input is lacking in depth and knowledge.
and does Gore care ?? he gets his $125k for each delivery of his schpeel regardless of the audience size. He gets his private jet transport as well.
The Goreacle . . . laughing all the way tot he bank.
Why doesn’t Gore do these shows for free? A man of wealth on a moral mission would do that.
Geothermal,
Yeah, why not do these shows for free. Ya don*t suppose because he came close once, he*s building a campaign fund?
You*d think he would at least have an EV in tow. It*s all don*t do as I do, do as I preach.
Al, you can choose one from my site [ click TG below] The 4 door shortbox pick up is nice. = TG
Sorry, Frances – I didn’t realize this had so quickly become a sore point. Just having a bit of fun… my bad. But, since you mention it, if you blame Liberals for the current level of taxation, you must not be too big on the spending that’s planned in the most recent budget. Tell the truth – if the Liberals were to table an identical budget, how would you react to it?
And don’t get all worked up – it’s just a friendly discussion.
After seeing an AlGoreWarm show, what practical thing do most vict.. viewers do help the environment?
Maybe someone will tell us here on this blog.
That is, if they are man enough to admit taking in the show. = TG
Crabgrass, stay on topic.
Saskatchewan taxpayers should be vocally demonstrating their displeasure outside the doors to the outhouse that is hosting Al Gore and his crap.
Its snowing like all heck here in Red Deer today. I believe Al Gore is going to be in Calgary in a few days. Supposed to get another 10cm toninght in RD/Calgary area. The Gore Effect is in full force!
RD
Assuming that Mr. Bore is being paid in Canada, does he have to pay CANADIAN INCOME TAX? If not, why not?
If he were to do these “talks” for free, he’d at least be able to write off the travel expenses.
I’m sure some knowleadgeable soul can provide an answer to that.
Mike
I can’t believe that there isn’t something illegal about the way the NDP government spends taxpayer money to advertise for their parties benefit.
“my bad” Really. Deep and mature.
“if you blame Liberals for the current level of taxation”….Huh, where did you get that out of what I said.
“Tell the truth – if the Liberals were to table an identical budget, how would you react to it?”…the honest to gods truth, I would love it. With Prime Minister Harper’s budget, as a retired senior, my huband and I are going to be able to split his income and will save about 4 thousand dollars next year on our taxes. My three sons are going to be able to save at least a thousand dollars each with the child tax credit and I could go on but you get the point. When he starts handing out money in brown envelopes to his friends than I will rebel.
By the way I am not worked up, just responding to a silly comment about “hair and Make-up”. The article was about spending tax dollars on Al Gore.
This is just the crown’s ticket purchases right? What about other government departments and agencies and the like. Monday is going to look like a government day off at the Brandt Centre. I hope that place is 2/3 empty and Leisure Suit Lorne looks like the buffoon that he is when he has to explain losing another boatload of cash.
I truly do believe that the leftards in this country have lost their minds….from my children being ridiculed because they do not subscribe to the climate hysteria(some of their friends actually believe they are going to die from climate change), to chimpy mcidiot banning incandescent light bulbs, to this spectacle with the goracle out west….HAS THIS COUNTRY GONE INSANE?
“That’s on top of the $208,000 SaskTel is paying to stage the event.”
Now you know why SaskTel can’t afford to put hi-speed into smaller communities — they blew their wad on the Goreacle.
Just checked ticketmaster and you could buy tickets in the 10th row, floor level. I’m a bit worried the crowns are going to buy another 4,000 tickets. There is no way Culvert will let there be empty seats after ‘personally’ inviting the Goreacle.
Roads crumbling, high taxes, health and education underfunded and in chaos. Yet dippers can find cash to put this roadshow on. Wahoo, watched it for free on tv the other night. Slick but tailored to a predetermined result. Change can’t come soon enough, and I’m not talking about climate.
I am sure there will be more civil servants getting tickets for free to make sure there is a “full house”

Crabgrass, you should have asked- Does Michelle Muntean get paid enough doing Harper’s hair, his make-up and choosing his socks to be able to afford to see Al Gore?
Any chance gores plane could be diverted to the ice pack in nfld. Poor danny williams, spent weeks vilifying PMSH, and his payback, sealers trapped by ice and homes falling into the ocean. I am sure it is bush’s fault and harpers. Wonder if he will go hat in hand to ask for help.
“Why doesn’t Gore do these shows for free? A man of wealth on a moral mission would do that.”
Exactly. Any other questions?
In BC the government insurance company ICBC has become a sponsor of the 2010 winter olympics. At least they will get some high profile exposure in return for spending the people’s money. What do the citizens of Saskatchewan get for listening to Al Gore? Especially when they can just rent the movie.
It’s good to see that your tax dollars are hard at work for the betterment of Canada. /sarc
Albatross – I didn’t invite your opinion, nor do I appreciate your snark. There is a readers tips post here for the use of comments that are unrelated to existing posts. If that isn’t good enough, then take it elsewhere.
Well, that had to be next, and may I say that I’m just, uh, shocked at the lack of enthusiasm (or I suppose I should say at the lack of “commitment”) shown by our local Gore disciples. But if you’re in Regina and have nothing else to do on Alzapalooza day, you might consider going down to whatever convention center they’re using with a tape recorder and asking some of the less likely looking attendees to tell you just who they think Al Gore is: I’ll guess that some of the warm bodies they find to fill the seats won’t be all that clear on what’s going on aside from the fact that they got freebies (“Ralph Gore? He was the guy in Robocop, right?” Riiight…).
SaskEnergy knows how to waste money..retail and
The Ontario government wastes money WHOLESALE..
Tom Adams, National Post, April 19, 2007
The government manufactured a power crisis with its coal shutdown policy and then negotiated a very long-term power purchase agreement without competitive checks and balances: Tom Adams.
The Ontario government had several objectives in entering into a sole-source contract with Bruce Power to buy electricity from Bruce’s nuclear expansion. One of them, detailed in the Auditor-General’s report, was to conceal the consumer impacts. Mr. Hawthorne’s letter (refer below) aids the government in achieving this objective.
Mr. Hawthorne takes issue with my characterization of the $720-million refurbishment as a *prohibitive* expense.
The refurbishment, which was announced 23 months after the Harris government announced the lease that created Bruce Power, had an original price tag of less than half that – only $340 million.
Further evidence of the refurbishment*s financial failure comes from one of the partners of Bruce Power, Cameco, which sold its share of the Bruce A project to its other partners, declaring a $60-million loss on its share of the refurbishment.

From $340 mil to $720 mil? Now that*s wholesale. Clean Coal-Tech is way cheaper. = TG
“Crabgrass, please stay on topic.”
I drfted a little but tried to remain focused on tax dollars being spent where we don’t approve.
Frances, I wish you a happy and prosperous retirement. Off to bed for me.
Kate, why don’t a bunch of us get together and buy a pile of the tickets, and quickly. We could either go and boo the crap out of him, or we could make the speech an embarrasing no show. Headline would read, “Gore speaks to 57 crown employees!” Think of it as a non-charitable donation. I’m game. Anyone else?
Rumour has it that Steven Harper’s primper bought two tickets. Steven will be staying home that day.
Crabgrass & albatross: would it please you to know,PMSH pays his personal assistant, less than taxpayers are spending on Dion’s Franglish lessons!
Sorry for OT Kate, just couldn’t resist!
It looks like Kate’s neighbors are doing their part to warm the earth. A large grow-op has burned down.

“We could either go and boo the crap out of him, or we could make the speech an embarrasing no show.”
Yea good idea Billy Bob, why don’t you just do that. Just think of the headlines in the news next day-“Ignorant Redneck Deniers Afraid to Face Reality Heckle Environmental Message”
Or you could go listen and maybe learn something.
Liberals, the latte-crowd type, are a strange bird.
You would think that a guy such as Warren Kinsella would be of at least normal intelligence. But then he writes, on his ‘anti-comment blog’, garbage, such as, Baird should stop telling the truth about the scam called Kyoto. Warren, did ya pay to see Gore’s fiction ??
In case you do not understand WK, take a deep breath and think.
1) Maurice Strong’s Kyoto Kult is a hoax. Pure and simple. The very fact that the Gores and Suzukis of the world will not debate, is all the proof one needs.
2) I have discussed so called man made global warming with many people. In each and every case, after about 15 minutes, they have always, always admited it all appears to be some kind of cult-think. A hoax. And I am no lawyer.
3) Especially for Canada, a little warming would be benificial. And any warming we are seeing, and will see, is natural. Has happened many times before. Like the Medieval Warm Period of only a 1000 years ago.
4) But Kinsella, and others, think Canadians should bow down at Maurice Strongs altar.
5) The latte-crowd thinks we should buy into the Kyoto scam just because the media has pulled the wool over so many eyes. As with alien crop-circles.
6) The media may, just may, be liable big time for telling UN/IPCC lies.
7) A lot of people are initially duped by pyramid schemes. Some are led down the garden path many times.
8) Tell me Warren, how many carbon-credit $$ have you been suckered out of by Maurice Strong ?? By Gore ?? By Suzuki ?? By Dion ?? It does not look good for a lawyer to be so naieve.
I have put these questions and thoughts to WK and others. Directly. many, Many, MANY times. They refuse to respond. Have never EVER tried to defend themselves.
They openedly admit they cannot defend the indefenceable. They just go and write another mindless article that the mindless media publishes.
BTW, I happen to know the U of S is sending at least 50 students on a bus FOR FREE to see Gore in Regina.
The students get the transportation, free lunch and all the stuff that goes along with it.
Someone tell Calvert to leave office – NOW.
Some folks might actually have to pay for their own lunch, on their day off, if they don’t sell their “free” tickets.
http://calgary.craigslist.org/tix/311582136.html
Tell me albatross, what can I possibly learn from Mr. Gore that I don’t already know from reading about both sides of the debate on the internet? How to lie to millions of people? How to act like you’re more important than everyone else? How to state “facts” like there are no alternative viewpoints? How to ignore the real facts and reality while on a scaremongering crusade? How to present oneself like they actually know what they are talking about?
Thanks but no thanks. I’m sure that all of these are good skills for people like you to have, but for those of us who prefer to do our own thinking and researching, these are skills which are counter productive.
i am very disappointed with those tax cuts …but this is convenient truth
