The Great Science Fiction Movie Poll. Go here for the details.
The “Jason Effect”.
Goldy needs to be a little quicker off the mark – he missed a golden opportunity to take “drive-by smear” artist Gerard Kennedy to the woodshed in front of a national audience.

  1. Kennedy’s remark is SO old hat. Anyone giving special scrutiny to “people who wear turbans” is not racist, merely a realist. The terrorists in the world all seem to prefer the turban rather than the beret, or tam, or stetson, so what’s the problem with Harper’s statements?
Remember , right after 0-11, when Bush had appointed Tom Ridge as director of homeland security, and someone from that organization said, “I don’t think there will be racial profiling. I would hope security pays as much attention to an 80 year old grandmother from Iowa, as they do to turbanned men”? (Not a verbatim quote)
PC silliness, carried on by PC apologists like Kennedy. They will never learn.

  2. Once upon a time kennedy was regarded as some kind of principled person who might make a difference when he entered politics. That ended when he entered liberal politics; like dryden before him, the darting tongue and lizard scales grew in quickly.

  3. Kennedy has taken himself out of contention on the credibility scale even for the Liberal Party.
He’s taken the debate to a new low.
Like mark Holland, who has a seat in the House, his mouth runneth over to make short work of his political ambitions.
IT’S ALL ABOUT LIES, DAMNED LIES AND FALSE ACCUSATIONS ARE ALL THEY HAVE TO RUN WITH.
    PITIFUL.

  4. same is happening in durham region with the water rates going up 7-8%. reason, conservation. they preach it everywhere you turn and when it takes hold then complain they are losing revenue. i’m sure hydro will be doing the same thing shortly. makes no difference if you are a good or bad conservationist your still going to get burned. then there’s kyoto. can hardly wait for that rape of the tax payers dollars to start.

  5. Great Sci-fi Movie Poll;
Is it too late to add “An Inconvenient truth” to the list ??
Gore claims sea levels will rise, in the next 100 years, about 10 times more than even the Wacos at the Uited Nations predict. The actual rise will probably be a mere few inches.
From 25 feet to 15 inches to 5 inches equals science fictional movie.
Just one example, there are many, like CO2 follows temperature rise, Gore fictions it the other way around.

  6. … increase … very successful conservation programs… smart meters …
    This is funny.

  7. Just posted this to the CBC News reader response form…let’s see IF they post it and how they will respond:
After reading ANOTHER of Ms. Mallick’s decidedly left-sided rants, I am forced to ask the CBC…where is your columnist who provides right-sided rants? As I understand it, the CBC claims they are not-biased and that they reflect all sides of an argument…but I can’t seem to find a CBC columnist that says anything positive about the conservative movement in Canada (except perhaps Rex Murphy at times…but his writing is typically nicely balanced without a left-right long-term tendency). Where is the fervent right-winger to balance the fervent left-wing views represented by Ms. Mallick?
If you repeatedly and only provide the left side of the discussion, how can you continue to claim any balance at all?

  8. I was amazed how Kennedy attack haper for McGuinty lies about shutting down the coal fire plants , pretty sad when federal Liberals have to beat-up a cousin on National TV to try and look good.
BTW, will the CBC cover the slur by Kennedy when he accuse Harper of disliking Turbans or dark-skinned people, I took this personally because my Dad is aboriginal and dark-skinned
and where were the Liberals to protect his rights or stop idiots like Trudeau who mocked my dad for serving in ww2 .
I can see why the Liberals get along so well with the radical Islamic org.’s , they both boast about the decades of defending the Rights of minorites in canada and yet did diddley Squat for natives .
Kennedy is a previleged white-guy who thinks that running a food bank makes him better than other people, he did what most Canadians expect from each other since they dropped off the food but left it to Kennedy to mete out the items as his job .
I’ve done far more direct charity work for the handicapped because i was also a Scout and instilled with the social responsibility to actually show i care for people and not just support programs or Bills to force us to help strangers.

  9. Hope you don’t mind Kate, but Warren does not allow others to express their point of view.
“.. I like taxes, gun control, gay marriage, Jean Chrétien, Kyoto, obscure punk rock bands, and the separation of church and state. I also like baby seals and bicycles. I am not fond of George Bush, Anne Coulter, SUVs or the sale of water by private companies.”, Warren Kinsella.
Kinsella is a Liberal insider. Arguably, I would suggest, he is more sane than some. PM, Maurice Strong, Reid, ect,
His list of likes and dislikes is so telling. Gets to the heart of the matter on what makes a latte-Liberal tick. ‘That’ kind of “lefty”, not the hard working, well, working-man “lefty”
They cannot stand other sucesses. Only their own. They look down on others if they do not think like they do.
WK likes taxes. Nice. Like, why ? Just because you can rob from someone and ‘control’ how the the state doles it out ?? Just likes the concept, eh ??
WK likes gun control. Doesn’t care it it does twit to protect society, as long as the poloticios can “control” something. Anything. Make criminals out of Farmers, but leave the Hells Angels free to ruin our kid’s lives. Way to go Warren.
WK likes gay marrige. Does his Pope ??
WK likes JC, his old boss. Does he also like his Adscam ?? Because the end justified the means ?? Liberal means ?? The latte crowd is above all others, eh ??
WK likes Kyoto. Yep, that would make sense to a latte, wouldn’t it. Doesn’t matter if the science is all lies, or that our way of life would go back to the depression years — oh no, it’s ok because the hippies are, well hypocrites. Thumb, bum a ride — in an auto, that someone else built, running on fuel that others worked to put in said auto’s tank, so hippy could ride on the highway that others toiled in the elements to build. And now the Suzukis, Gores and Dions of the world take jets instead. Very telling how the latte’s mind works. It doesn’t.
WK likes “obscure punk bands”. I would suggest he does just because it pisses others off. Something like a ‘ring in the tongue thing’. Can’t stand the damn thing but, hey, serves a porpose.
WK likes separation of church and state. And, I guess he must back the war on terror. If we loose that one you will see a real connection. I suppose he also likes to see women in burkas. Talk about oppression !!
WK likes baby seals. Does anybody hate baby seals ?? Warren, do you like them more than the people making their living from the sea?? Like the Inuit ? Do ya also eat, WK ??
WK likes bicycles. Sure, a lot of people do. I have a scooter. Almost as good. But I sure as hell ain’t riding it at -30, in the snow.
WK does not like Gearge Bush or Ann Colter. So, I don’t particularily either. Got a lot more going for them than Paul Marin, though. Or Dion.
WK doesn’t like SUVs. I don’t care for them myself. But some do. And some need them. Their choice. Economics will determine. I know, I know, SUVs are the ‘anti-establishment’s’ choice of ultimate hates by the hyppy-latte crowd. What about the Gore, Suzuki crowd’s choice of exec-jets ?? Such as a Gulfstream IV. The ultimate SUV, I would say. Fill’er up, $8000.00 please !!
WK is against the sale of water by private companies. I guess he means even if it provides a service, like relieving thirst ?? Or bathing ?? I would bet this is just a case of the latte crowd wanting to take over oil too. What about wheat ?? Or clothes ? Govmits can do it better, eh ?? Like in the USSR ?? And don’t forget, we ALL own most of the big ole bad companies already. Pension plan portfolios are full of their stocks.
I would suggest WK also likes attention, as he is now boasting that he is launching the ‘mother of all lawsuits’ against an old foe. Whoever that is.

  10. Does Kinsella still list Lenin on his website as one of the people he admires most? Canadians really don’t know how nasty politics can get.
    From Wikipedia…
Lenin’s Hanging Order documents that Lenin himself ordered terror: The text is as follows:
Send to Penza To Comrades Kuraev, Send to Penza To Comrades Kuraev, Bosh, Minkin and other Penza communists Comrades! The revolt by the five kulak volost’s must be suppressed without mercy. The interest of the entire revolution demands this, because we have now before us our final decisive battle “with the kulaks.” We need to set an example. 1) You need to hang (hang without fail, so that the public sees) at least 100 notorious kulaks, the rich, and the bloodsuckers. 2) Publish their names. 3) Take away all of their grain. 4) Execute the hostages – in accordance with yesterday’s telegram. This needs to be accomplished in such a way, that people for hundreds of miles around will see, tremble, know and scream out: let’s choke and strangle those blood-sucking kulaks. Telegraph us acknowledging receipt and execution of this. Yours, Lenin P.S. Use your toughest people for this.

  13. The wako-left latte-crowd is ‘doing-it-to-themselves. Everyday now. More and more.
They always have, but their friends and protectors in the major media are now powerless to protect them any longer by filtering their mental state. As they tried to do with Dion. But were caught.
You see, the nut cases are providing proof of how weak-minded they really are by posting junk. Nothing to discuss, just act child like. Proof positive they are parasites.

  14. A civilization whose businesses prefer anti-white male quotas over turning a profit deserves to be conquered; wave goodbye to western civilization, kids, because it’s loooooooong gone and will never come back:
Microsoft drops supplier over diversity policy
Microsoft has dropped one of its suppliers in the UK because it failed to meet the software giant’s standards on employee diversity.
The UK arm of Microsoft is one of a small but growing number of British companies to monitor suppliers to ensure they employ a representative mix of women and ethnic minorities. It declined to name the company concerned.

  15. I hope this qualifies as a “tip”:
Gerard Kennedy has repeated his driveby smear on Mike Duffy Live.
You might, btw, like to read the commentary I wrote about that matter at the link pertaining to Kennedy’s smear. It’s stuff I wish more political folks were standing up and pointing out.
Not self-promotion, but someone has to say what I said there. Such nastiness as Kennedy has spewed cannot go unanswered.

  16. B. Hoax Aware, I wish I had thought of adding An Inconvenient Truth to the scifi poll. However, since I got most of the titles on the poll from the IMDb list of science fiction movies, and it wasn’t listed there, I missed putting it on. It would probably have skewed the results too, as people would have voted for it to make a political point.
Kate, thanks for directing people to the poll. The more who vote, the more better the results will be.

  17. It’s Geraldo Kennedy and Nancy Drew Holland teamed up for Dion’s dream smear team.
Very soon we’ll see them all smudged up from the backfire.

    PLQ(Charest): 45 seats, 33%
    ADQ(Dumont): 45 seats, 31%
    Parti Quebecois: 34 seats, 29%
It appears Quebec has rejected having a gay eco-feminist premier…
I figure the vote will go back to the PQ once Boisclair is dumped.

  20. Voters in Quebec, that so-called, by the media that is, hot bed of Kyotoism, have given Gore’s/Suzuki’s Green Party less than 4% of the votes. As of 9:39 edt.

  21. No, Ace, I disagree. I don’t think it’s about the political leaders (Charest, Boisclair, Dumont). It’s a deeper change in Quebec. Finally.
Quebec is moving out of its century old structure, set up by the Church, enforced by Duplessis and effectively ‘frozen’ by Trudeau and Chretien, of a socialist welfare state. As such, Quebec had a ‘worker population’, funded and cocooned by the federal trough. Its first attempt to break away from being a Worker Population was naive utopian separatism – a fairy tale floating without any economic infrastructure.
So- you had over the past generation, two modes of existence in Quebec. But both were actually similar. Both defined Quebecers as ‘Workers, which is to say, as welfare recipients of a top down centralist governance. This authoritarian gov’t was either the federalist one in Ottawa OR, the separatiste one in Quebec City.
What we are seeing now in Quebec is a rejction of the Welfare State and its socialist passivity. Dumont is talking about a conservative structure, with less gov’t, less socialism, less welfare and more self-reliance and entrepreneurship. Private health care, fewer unions, increased university tuition etc. All facets pointed out in the Bouchard Manifesto – that are required for the ‘maturation’ of Quebec.
It’s a profound shift in Quebec, a maturation away from being a Kept Society, and a step towards self-reliance and a collaborative working with the other provinces. No more ‘Support Us Entirely Or We’ll Leave’. No more ‘Hey Walmart, put up a store so that we can work there’. Quebec will set up their own store. It’s a vital and important change.

  24. Well, I’m a Conservative, and I think what is going on in Quebec now is great!
Finally, Quebec is moving out of its old infrastructure of a socialist welfare state and talking about responsibility, self-organization, self-funding.
As I said, both the Quebec Liberals and the PQ are two sides of the same coin. They are both socialist welfare. The Liberals fed from the federal trough – and the PQ did the same (like the Bloc); the only difference was that the PQ lived in a fairy tale world that ‘someday this socialist lifestyle will be separate from Canada; we’ll be making all decisions on our own – BUT – Canada will still fund us, as we’ll have ‘sovereignty-association’.
But this enormous change in Quebec is rejecting the welfare state. It’s rejecting Big Government. That means that it’s also rejecting the federal Liberals, NDP and Bloc.
It is a change where Quebecers are taking charge – within Canada. Exactly as Harper said ‘Quebecois within a united Canada’. Quebecers are taking charge and moving into a Conservative mode – for Dumont, like Harper, is focused on the working family. Not the leftist sophists, but the working family. And, self-supporting, not funded by the Nanny State.
As for Charest, he’s a decent guy, but, he’s part of the Old Socialist Welfare Quebec – and suddenly, Quebec has woken up.
    I think it’s a great change.

They have been told that if they shoot a civilian dead they will not face a murder charge. 29. Storm Track Infiltration: Marxist-Islamist Speech Code Under Guise of Legitimacy
The Canadian Federation of Students has completed its “Task Force on the Needs of Islamic Students”, and – surprise! – has concluded that Ontario Universities are hotbeds of “Islamophobia”. From Flaggman’s Canada.
Its report calls on University administrators to use the Ontario Human Rights Commission to vigorously counter and prosecute violators of “Islamophobia”. I would like to expose the untold story of this report – a report that is being promoted uncritically by mainstream media like the CBC. That is, this report was not created to give an unbiased look at the life of Muslim students on campus. It was created by Muslim activists and Marxist agitators with pre-existing agendas, looking to exploit white liberal guilt to further their goals of Islamic supremacy and anticapitalism.
Here are seven of the ten who ran the commission and prepared the report:
Sheikh Faisal Abdur-Razak, President of the Islamic Forum of Canada, who proudly boasts on his web site of having studied in Saudi Arabia from 1977-1986 at King Abdel-Aziz University in Jeddah, under scholars such as Sheikh Muhammad Qutb and other Wahabbi and Muslim Brotherhood teachers. Osama Bin Laden attended the same school in the late 1970s, and has identified Qutb as one of his chief influences.
    Grace Edward Galabuzi, a Ryerson professor who regularly presents at Marxist and Socialist conferences;
Alex Kerner, the notorious Trotskyite socialist agitator who ran the SAC at the University of Toronto in the early part of the decade, and now works for the Ryerson Students Union.
    Ausma Malik, a U of T social justice agitator who will be speaking at the “Marxism: A Festival of Resistance” conference in Toronto this May;
    Diana Ralph, Carlton University professor, and favourite of the paranoid-delusional “9/11 Truth” movement;
Mohamed Sheibani, President of the Muslim Students’ Association of the U.S. and Canada, a lobby group with documented links to the Saudi Wahabbi movement.
Wahida Chisti Valiante, National Vice President of Mohamed Elmasry’s Canadian Islamic Congress, who has been promoting anti-American, anti-Israel sentiment for years (read her 2004 article here)
So, we have a coalition of Marxists and Islamists, under the seemingly legitimate umbrella of the Canadian Federation of Students, telling us we’re all racists, and demanding that we give up our freedom of speech and ways of living as compensation. Scary to you? Scary to me. I can only imagine the state the University campus will be in when my now two-year-old son heads off to his post-secondary education.
So when are University administrators and Canadian politicians cease being good little dhimmis, grow a backbone and stand up and condemn this type of dishonest, subversive bullying report.

  30. Further to the post by maz2, Kashechewan evacuees utterly destroyed the NAV Canada Training Insitute in Cornwall, where they were boarded after the horrible problems on their reserves.
Entire wings of the hotel/conference facilities had to be completely shut down and rebuilt after the disgusting behaviour of those involved.
One coworker of mine, who was an air traffic control trainee on site during the time, said life was unbelievably bad for every person who had to come into contact with the evacuees.

  31. Israel Offers Assistance in Wake of Gaza Sewage Disaster
(IsraelNN.com) Israel has offered assistance to hundreds of Palestinian Authority Arabs affected by a flood of raw sewage that swept through a Bedouin village in the northern Gaza Strip Tuesday afternoon. Defense Minister Amir Peretz instructed the IDF to prepare for the possibility of evacuating the injured to Israeli hospitals. The village, Umm Nasser, is near Beit Lahiya and less than a kilometer from the Gaza Strip border with Israel. At least 25 houses in the 200-family village were immediately swamped when the local sewage system’s cesspool wall collapsed and pipes burst. Between six and nine people are reported dead,…-
