CENTCOM Weekly Podcast

Apparently, I’ve made CENTCOM’s mailing list. The news release I received Friday is of general interest (and special interest to milbloggers), so I’m sharing portions here;

TAMPA, Florida -Today, U.S. Central Command (USCENTCOM) launched a new podcast on their website. The weekly podcast will feature stories from around Central Command’s area of responsibility. The weekly episodes will provide visitors to the CENTCOM website a readymade means of accessing information about events in the Middle East, Southwest Asia and the Horn of Africa, as well as RSS feeds with up to the minute news.
The Central Command podcast is available at www.centcom.mil to download as an MP3 audio file, or via subscription to the podcast RSS syndication feed.

CENTCOM’s unique access to the region will take you to the Iranian border in Iraq and hear from coalition members working with the Iraqi Border Patrol to the villages of Somalia to features about
post-earthquake Pakistan.
The inception of this medium to the website accommodates a diverse audience and provides them with another method of acquiring news and information about Central Command and the units on the ground.

USCENTCOM is one of the five geographically defined unified commands within the Department of Defense. The command is responsible for planning and conducting United States military activity in a region consisting of 27 countries that make up the CENTCOM AOR.

  1. With the US Army including you on their distributions list, it lots like you are hitting the mainstream now Kate. Your very high readership levels must have hit their radar screens.
    Love your site.

  2. I suggest NOT subscribing to the press release option, I’ve done it before, and you will get way too many e-mails from them detailing every little useless thing. The news option is good though, and I have gotten copies of speeches by Rummy et al, quite informative.

  3. Congratulations Kate. Many thanks for keeping all of us informed, through you, all of your readers benefit. You deserve a medal of Honor from the Canadian people.

  4. Been getting the CENTCOM emails since about a year ago. They asked me to link to them after finding my site. And naturally I have.
I disagree with Deity that there’s too many emails. And I would assert that there’s lots of good news in the emails about the situation in Iraq which the MSM won’t tell us about.
In fact, the MSM actually uses CENTCOM releases to do their own reports. CENTCOM is effectively a source for MSM reports on Iraq… I often get information via the CENTCOM emails before I see the info in the MSM.
As bloggers get stuff from the MSM, the MSM gets stuff from CENTCOM.
Therefore we should pay attention to what CENTCOM says. They have nothing to gain by telling a lie, as they’d be found out in no time. Besides, who knows stuff better than the guys on the frontlines and those who debrief them?
Who would you rather listen to, Dan Rather telling us what Pallywood told him, or some guy who claimed to have a document from Bush’s past that was really a fake? Or CENTCOM?
Or do you want to simply put your head in the sand, like most liberals?

  5. Any guess as to how long before some leftist moonbat blogger starts screaming that this site is now a tool of the yankee imperialist war machine?

  6. OT. But important I think. Read Ezra Lavant in todays Calgary Sun re the anti alberta bumber stickers the cbc is distributing in Calgary. Not a surprise after all the little digs at the oil industry by the cbc when questioning anyone re Kyoto.

  7. Thanks Kate,
There is a ton of information that I personally would not have access to were it not for the work that you do.
    My thanks,
    Regards,
    Pat Patrick
