The Canadian C-130 fleet is not comprised of one model, it is made up of older E models that need replacing, and thirteen H models that are relatively new and more capable than the J model. What is not well understood by the public is that the J model is a totally different aircraft from the legacy Hercules, it was designed as a commercial aircraft, different engines, props, systems, etc. I have flown the legacy Herc, it is a great airplane. The J model has problems. It was removed from the US JCA competition because it does not have a valid certification – this is not a minor item, this is major. It has not been certified to airdrop equipment or supplies – the resupply drop in Afghanistan that made the MSM could not have been done in a J model – despite six years of trials, they are still not cleared to operationally drop equipment. The Australians do not haul ammo in their J models because of vibration problems.
With all this in mind, the most logical approach for the Canadian Military would be to purchase four low time H models to augment their other relatively new H models (that would give them the 17 aircraft that they say they need) and fly them for the next twenty years. The USAF plans to do just that with aircraft of similar vintage and flight hours. In ten years time, they can take another look at it, and see if the J model has fixed its problems, or if the A400M is a realistic option. There is no rush, the CF needs other equipment on a far more urgent basis than they need to replace the H models.

14-Year Old Boy Decapitated by Islamic Terrorists
A horrifying story from Iraq: 14 Year Old Assyrian Boy Decapitated By Muslim Group.
(AINA) — According to the Assyrian website ankawa.com, a 14 year old Christian Assyrian boy, Ayad Tariq, from Baqouba, Iraq was decapitated at his work place on October 21.
Ayad Tariq was working his 12 hour shift, maintaining an electric generator, when a group of disguised Muslim insurgents walked in at the beginning of his shift shortly after 6 a.m. and asked him for his ID.
According to another employee who witnessed the events, and who hid when he saw the insurgents approach, the insurgents questioned Ayad after seeing that his ID stated “Christian”, asking if he was truly a “Christian sinner.” Ayad replied “yes, I am Christian but I am not a sinner.” The insurgents quickly said this is a “dirty Christian sinner!” Then they proceeded to each hold one limb, shouting “Allahu akbar! Allahu akbar!” while beheading the boy. …-

The Eid sexual harassment incident
I didn’t want to write about this.
Hell, I didn’t even want to know about it.
I remember the first time I heard of it while I was in Amman. Eblis sent me an e-mail titled “Behold the revolution in Egypt” with a link to malek’s post on it and I stupidly clicked on it and was presented with a reality that I didn’t want or desire to confront.
The story is as follows for the those of you who didn’t hear about it: It was the first day of Eid, and a new film was opening downtown. Mobs of males gatherd trying to get in, but when the show was sold out, they decided they will destroy the box office. After accomplishing that, they went on what can only be described as a sexual frenxy: They ran around grabbing any and every girl in sight, whether a niqabi, a Hijabi or uncoverd. Whether egyptian or foreigner. Even pregnant ones. They grabbed them, molested them, tried to rip their cloths off and rape them, all in front of the police, who didn’t do shit. The good people of downtown tried their best to protect the girls. Shop owners would let the girls in and lock the doors, while the mobs tried to break in. Taxi drivers put the girls in the cars while the mobs were trying to break the glass and grab the girls out. It was a disgusting pandamonium of sexual assaults that lasted for 5 houres from 7:30 PM to 12:30 am, and it truns my stomach just to think about it.
I called my father when I heard of that happening, and he informed me that he didn’t hear of it at all. They watched Al Jazeerah, CNN, flipped through opposition newspapers, and nothing. Nada. Nobody mentioned it. As if it didn’t happen.
But it did.
The bloggers available downtown documented the whole thing, and provided pictures of it as well. Reading their accounts I can’t help by feel my heart being torn on what the people of the country has turned to. The one that broke my heart the most was Sharqawi’s account (remember, he is the guy who got sexually assaulted by the police during interrogation ) and how it suddenly danwed at him that what happend to him wasn;t an isolated incident. That The Police forces didn;t came from another planet, that they were born and raised egyptians, amongst the egyptian people, the same egyptian people who have produced those mobs who found it in their right to attack girls in middle of crowded downtown for 5 houres under the police’s watchdul eyes. The ones who approached the police asking them to do something were told : “what do you want us to do? It’s Eid. Happy Eid to you too!” …- via LGF

Did Supreme Court judge throw away briefs? (Top Canadian Judge’s Nude Cruise!)
Globe and Mail ^ | October 31, 2006 | Kirk Makin
Some Supreme Court judges seek relief from work stress in the comfort of their families. Others love nothing more than to curl up with a good book. And could it be, for at least one of them, a nude romp on the high seas was just the ticket?
The anonymous judge’s alleged unconventional vacation choice — a nude cruise — came to light in a San Francisco Chronicle travel article in the spring. It quoted a co-owner of the Bare Necessities cruise line, Nancy Tiemann, as saying that its clientele include: “actors, bus drivers, Fortune 500 CEOs, soccer moms, doctors, teachers, priests and at least one Canadian Supreme Court justice.”
The April 2 article said that 40,000 people have stripped down so far for Bare Necessities’ 38 cruises, and that passengers “can choose to be nude anywhere — in the pool, at the blackjack table, while singing karaoke — with the exception of the formal dining room, where clothes are required.”
The story came to the attention of Chief Justice Beverley McLachlin, who swiftly launched an investigation into which, if any, of her eight colleagues was the alleged unrobed sailor.
In an e-mail to the author of the article, Chronicle deputy travel editor Spud Hilton, an assistant to Chief Justice McLachlin said: “Dear Spud. We here at the Supreme Court of Canada read with great interest your article on nude cruising. You mentioned ‘at least one Canadian Supreme Court judge’ has taken part, based on your conversation with Nancy Tiemann.
“We were curious, to say the least, and are wondering if you can say who those justices were,” said the e-mail, a copy of which was supplied by Mr. Hilton. “Or, perhaps the co-ordinates for Ms. Tiemann, if she is the source of the info.”
According to Supreme Court Justice Marshall Rothstein, the investigation ran aground at this point. Speaking to an audience at the University of Toronto law school last week, Judge Rothstein read a tongue-in-cheek memo which Chief Justice McLachlin circulated to her Supreme Court colleagues on May 12.
Entitled “Re. Nude Cruising,” the memo said: “I made inquiries into the identity of the judge, but was rebuffed on a claim of journalistic privilege. . . . All this is to say, that our secret is safe.” …-

Canada shows its strength
Contrary to popular belief, this country is emerging as a powerhouse, writes John Kirton
Oct. 31, 2006. 01:00 AM
“An emerging energy superpower” is what Prime Minister Stephen Harper declared Canada to be when he was in Britain in July. “A country that leads,” he added in Afghanistan in the spring and again in America and Canada this fall.
Is Harper right? Understandably, many have their doubts. For never before has a new Canadian Prime Minister made such far-reaching claims about Canada’s power, purpose and potential influence in the world. And these come from a young Albertan with little previous interest or involvement in international affairs, no ministerial experience, and heading a new Conservative party, a minority government and a cabinet with virtually no foreign policy experience at all. …-

The following posted at voy forums:
The Liberals are in a desperate situation. They lost a bushel of votes to the NDP in the last election, and the Conservatives are whittling away at their Ontario and Quebec bases …. and even more Canadian women are voting for Harper and the Conservatives.
Traditionally, more women voted Liberal than men, and vice versa for the Conservatives … however that trend is reversing and that is of concern to the backroom Liberals …. ergo they pushed the Belinda ‘dog’ gaffe as far as they could with repetition, repetition, repetition … until addle-brained women started believing that they were Belinda too. It’s an old psycho-propaganda trick … and now she is being openly called a ‘bitch’ …. Will this result in added sympathy for poor rich Belinda after being called a ‘dog’ by that cad Mackay … ????
Well …. it’s rumoured that Belinda will quit politics next year on the eve of another election …. stepping down because “Conservative politics has made life impossible” for her and her ex-family … and that she will devote her affections to Domi and work for the emancipation and advancement of Canadian women, and a Liberal govt …. otherwise why would the Liberal politicians drag her name through the HoC mud for so long .. unless with her permission … it’s all a fix … believe it … !!!

Did Paul Martin, Jr., payoff the late Chuck Cadman?
The complete history of the AdScam Librano$ Chretien-Martin Liberals is here: When will the book/books be written? …-
TDH Strategies asks:
“I have just been pointed in the direction of this new article by Bill Tieleman asking “Did the RCMP visit LPC [Liberal Party of Canada] B.C. headquarters itself in their search for more documents to be used in the trial of former provincial B.C. Liberal ministerial aides David Basi and Bob Virk?” I hear that Tieleman mixed up March, 2005 with May, 2005, but nonetheless, it looks like there was some kind of rendez-vous at headquarters.
If this occurred in May, it was on the verge of Parliament almost falling over a confidence vote on the budget. Because of Cadman’s support in the midst of his chemotherapy, the government did not fall. Remember, Paul Martin was in the thick of defending the sponsorship scandal, and had incorporated billions of dollars in spending from NDP initiatives into the final version of the budget document.
So, my questions to Jamie Elmhirst as president of the party are: when exactly did you find out about this RCMP visit to LPCBC headquarters? And, upon hearing this information, was the entire provincial executive also made aware?”
Also, if Paul Martin saw it fit to ban 11 members of the Liberal party in Quebec for abuses attached to the sponsorship scandal, I want to know why the BC executive, and more specifically Mr. Elmhirst, hasn’t taken similar action with regards to Erik Bornman, who as I have just found out through another Tieleman column, turned evidence on his partners the day of the raids (including one made on his residence) in a 25 page statement to police.
Could Mr. Elmhirst’s hesitation be with the fact that him and Mr. Bornman still remain friends?
Since I have had a hard time tracking down a personal email for you, and I do not want my message to be filtered by the staff at the LPCBC headquarters, will you as president send a response to me that I can publish on this website? I am a Liberal party member, and I think I and every other member across this province, deserve some answers.”
