    Children (including two 11-year olds) decide to spend $5,400 of their “own” money to donate to him? That’s hilarious as well as preposterous!
    The right thing to do is to return the money to Apotex. Oops, I mean the fathers. Oops again, I mean the children of course!

    ….It is bad enough that Liberal leadership candidate Volpe has skirted around the election financing law through targeted fundraising of the principals in one particular company.
    It is worse that he justifies the 20 “individual” donations to his campaign from company executives, former executives, their spouses and teenage children, as each complying with the maximum allowable donation of $5,400 per person.
    While that is true, taken together all these donations are connected to people associated with one firm — Apotex.
    Their total contribution of $108,000 to Volpe’s campaign amounts to 70% of all funds he raised as of earlier this month, according to media reports. If accurate, that total is 2000% higher than the individual limit of $5,400 prescribed by law.
    Volpe spokesman Corey Hobbs said all these donations are in full compliance with the law and Liberal party guidelines.
    But to see interim Liberal Leader Bill Graham and party spokesperson Steve McKinnon supporting Volpe should raise more than one Liberal eyebrow.
    McKinnon is quoted as saying the party has procedures to “catch and correct any provisions of the act that appear to have been contravened, and we don’t see any in this case.” ….
    ………..”Believe me, Volpe is no political novice. Setting aside his obvious lack of judgment in hitching his financial wagon so strongly to one federally-regulated company, Volpe sees no problem in accepting thousands of dollars in campaign contributions from even the teenage children of company officials.
    But surely we should expect more from Liberal officials.
    It is their job to ensure that leadership activities pass the smell test and guarantee a level playing field.
    Most Liberals were disgusted with the backroom tactics of the last few years and they see the leadership race as a chance to start afresh. One Saskatchewan Liberal told me this week his vote would go to the candidate who would “clean house.” …….

  17. The liberals care for children: The 3rd world uses children in factories, the taliban and other terrorists strap bombs on kids and sends them shopping, liberals use kids to hide donations. At least they aren’t using them for forced labor or killing them (they use abortion). When they wake up to the fact they have deterred over 200,000 from being born and thus lost them as donors and voters they will impose a law re abortion. Can’t change what doesn’t exist. Why is there no outrage against the company that started all this. What did they expect to get, and have they donated to any other candidates. Might be why so many of them are quiet about this. Note to Rev Canada-audit this firm.

    Why was this not made available to the Canadian people via MSM? In these papers the Canadian Intellegence Services listed the egregious rodent’s activites from youth – like his involvement with brownshirts, Castro, Mau, Communists in every human hating state in the world, …..Now how can anyone question who the MSM work for?   32. Wow, I took a look at elections canada’s financing page. Volpe associates with some real scum. His biggest donor(s) [Husband and wife] in the ’04 election gave him $9000 and were in charge of some weird coupon scam called the ‘SumIt Club’.
    While I was on that site I found another Liberal donor – maybe you’ve heard of her – Adrienne Clarkson. She gave $250 to Bill Graham in the last election.

Don Newman had Joe Volpe on Newsworld Politics program and gave him about 5 minutes to answer Newman’s softball questions … and Volpe went on and on about how transparent he was …. trying to take credit for returning the money that was being laundered through infants … but he will keep mom’s and dad’s money because that’s “legal” …and all the rest of the money donated by Apotex Pharmaceutical exectives and their wives because it’s “legal” too … and it’s only coincidental that it all came from one company that depends or received favourable govt decisions for their industry.
    Also on CTV Duffy Live …. the Duff said that there is a news story emerging from some Toronto Italian organization that claimed that if it were a WASP Liberal candidate, this would not have been exposed as it was for Italian paisan Volpe … and that it’s only somebody’s vendetta against all Italians …. go figure … Italians living in Canada are still rallying to one of their own … just like any good mafia familia would …. !!!

What I find most revealing is not Volpe’s actions, but the defence of them by the Libranos. “He didn’t break any laws, therefore he did nothing wrong.” — as though legality equals morality and vice versa. It’s a profoundly chilling thought that there are so many (and only recently out of power) powerful, influential people who cannot make the distinction. Presumably, if a law were passed condemning Jews to extermination, the Libranos would then see exterminating Jews as “not wrong” because it would be “legal”. I contrast this to the reaction by Conservatives including many on various blogs to David Emerson’s appointment to cabinet — “legal” yes, but still “wrong”. It illustrates the utter absence of a moral compass or at best its utter superficiality amongst Liberals. They truly are fertile soil for Fascism.

What about the Apotec people.What have they been smoking and who with? Where did this $100,000.00 come from. Is there a forensic auditor in the house? The missing taxpayer meillions have to be somewhere. Are we going to $ee them $urface in this way in many campaign$ to come! This just doesn’t smell right!
    I hope the returned money goes straight to childrens charities. Perhaps the hospital for sick children since it is coming from a liberal friendly Pharmaceudicals Corporation. We all know how passionate the Liberals are to solve all the health care problems in this country. Take the $5400.00 per child and do something good with it!
