  2. yup, you’ve proven it, waste of money and time supporting universitites, get your shit together, even my 9 year old would know this is crap, does nothing. tell me, how does the saying “any publicity is good publicity” apply to you or the university? The tape, obtained by The Vancouver Sun, contains a listing of the names, social insurance numbers and internal government file numbers for more than 30,000 refugees. The list, which was last updated in February 1999, also gives information on how the refugees were approved to get into the country. “This is disturbing,” Monte Solberg said in a telephone interview Sunday from his riding in Medicine Hat, Alta….

  4. and if Hollywood wants to know why the box office take is down year after year, why ordinary Americans are ignoring Hollywood like they are ignoring the MSM . . there was not one of those “stars” last night, not one, who had the courtesy to thank the Armed Forces for fighting for their freedom, for their right to celebrate their “bravery” by thanking themesleves for being brave – yes I mean you George Cluney. Assholes all.
Just disgusting. No wonder Hollywood is a bastion of Democratic Party stalwarts & tall foreheads.

  5. Capital Piglet
I cant believe the crap that is going through our University! What could possibly be wrong with the two young men that put this smut together! No matter what your belief or your religion, only a sick deranged mind would think of anything so low and disgusting.
I am truly embarrassed to say my daughters go to the U of S, if these are the type of young men that wonder the halls. Such a shame our society has lowered itself to depict our Jesus Christ in such a manner. Even if this cartoon didnt depict Jesus giving the blow job, why is it acceptable for this type of act to be in a University paper!!!! My sincere sympathy to the parents of these men! Someones heads should roll!

Over the last decade, the Liberal government spent — or at least committed to spend — more than $2-billion on eliminating tainted water on reserves. Still, it was unable to solve the problem. Chasing the cancer answer
…In the next generation, the Canadian Cancer Society says almost one in two Canadians will be diagnosed with cancer….
…Some explain rising cancer rates as a natural outcome of our aging population; rates have increased in some elderly-onset forms of cancer. But the rates are increasing at remarkable rates among other age groups too. For instance, childhood cancers have risen over 20 per cent in 30 years…
…”The Canadian Cancer Society,” he says, “has ignored or trivialized these concerns and told the public if you get cancer, it’s your own fault.” In fact, Epstein contends “it is the fault of the Canadian cancer establishment, who have not informed the public of this vast range, body of information on avoidable causes of cancer.”…
…In 2005, the World Health Organization’s International Agency for Research on Cancer re-classified certain oral contraceptives as carcinogenic to humans with slightly increased risks for cervical, liver and breast cancer…The Canadian Cancer Society is reviewing its position on oral contraceptives. 8. I think that this cartoon is abslolutely disgusting. These ‘men’ (if you can call them that) should be ashamed of themselves. I have 2 boys, ages 6 & 4, with more common sense & smarts then that. Who do these people think that they are? That is what I want to know. I think that these little boys need to spend their time more productively. Maybe in the classrooms where they need to be. What is the difference between publishing this cartoon opposed to the Mohammed cartoons? I, myself, am extremely offended and angered to know that my taxpaying dollars are going to fund these little assholes for school. That just disgusts me. These little animals need to learn to respect other people’s feelings, and religions, and they should be FIRED. I think the whole staff should go. None of them deserve to make any money if they can’t come up with anything better than this shit to publish. Little assholes. Get a life, do some well needed studying, and never write for a newspaper again.

  9. Think of it this way:
The interesting part of all this cartoon foolishness, (Mohammad insult, no, Christian insult, yes) is the context, not the content.
It’s a University publication. A University was supposed to teach you how to think, but it has become a reality that to get an Arts degree, you must merely regurgitate whatever a particular prof thinks, and by extension what the institution thinks. Ergo, “Capitalist Piglet”.
    Where is “Socialist Piglet”?
    Again, context.
On the positive side, the kid who drew that cartoon, and the kids who publish the Sheaf, have likely gotten more genuine “education” from this entire canard than a year of university provides!
    One of my favourite T-shirt slogans comes to mind;
    “I Have A Liberal Arts Degree…
Would You Like Fries With That?”
Which shines a baleful light on the diminishing value of a U of S “education” in the real world.
    Kate:
Maybe it’s time for another “editorial” from you, a la ‘Best of SDA’, asking what these kids are really learning in this institution. And who’s teaching. On our dime. I doubt very much that most working taxpayers really know.

  10. This is a good question from a poster on Free Republic.

“Would you go into an unsecured zone, put down your weapon and take off your helmet, and then sit on the ground?”

“MoD rules of engagement for the PPs are not geared to fighting an anti-guerilla interdiction operation.”

PPs are at a distinct disadvantage if this is true.

I hope PMSH has a good look at the ROEs and quickly.

I am sick of politicians sending soldiers into harms way and then tying one arm behind their backs.

Guess who gets their teeth broken?

It is not the politicos in the MoD in Ottawa, that is for sure.

  11. Mansbridge would be far better off to visit this place and give us all some REAL information and reasons to double our efforts against the Taliban and Saddam types.

Liberals who bleat and whine about losses of Canadian boys fail to see the picture and are in a sense traitors.
There are going to be big losses over time, but backing out now means we would give a green light to 220 million in Indonesia and hundreds of millions elsewhere to swarm in with rigid fundamentalist rule. TG
Liberals who see this may stop bleating about quitting Iraq and Afghanistan.

  12. Peter Mansbridge…about that scarf?
He says it is to protect from the sand.
Odd he had to mention it as I think we know there are sand issues in a desert.
But why that particular color combination, so symbolic of Arafat?
May mean nothing or may say quite a bit…

“Most non-Arab New Yorkers wear them in one of three ways. Pro-Palestinian activists usually drape them loosely over their shoulders, as was recently seen at anti-war protests. World-music types bunch them to make a regular, long scarf, as girls did in the ’80s. And the hippest kids fold the square in half to make a triangle and gather it around the neck, center point-down over their chests. This is similar to the way U.S. and British troops wear the scarves in Iraq and Afghanistanto protect the face in sandstorms. (In that context, the keffiyeh is called a shemagh.) It may be no different in spirit from wearing camouflage, but it’s certainly more likely to raise eyebrows.”

  13. I find the most stunning part of the “cartoon story” is that near EVERYONE has lost complete perspective,This has NOTHING to do with freedom of speech, satirizing religious icons or even good taste. It has EVERYTHING to do with a group of terrorists manipulating any and all opportunities to incite hatred and vengeance amongst their followers to destroy OUR WAY OF LIFE.
The MSM considers 2,000 Muslims protesting in Montreal against the Danish cartoons a story.
I consider the fact no Muslims in Canada have protested against the horrendous actions committed worldwide in the name of their religion
    a BIG story.

  14. Question: Why was the Canadian public not told about the 80 brave Canadian soldiers who died in Yugoslavia?
Why no media “opinion polls” and spins and demands for votes in the house on that war?

  15. The capitalist Piglet cartoon is intended to be offensive. You have the right to be offended by it, and the writers have the right to publish something you find offensive.
Freedom working as intended. The issue it raises, is the question of why Islam gets special status out of fear of reprisals.

  16. JM; The cancer ‘thingie’ is a set up to employ leagues of highly paid trough sloppers in the ‘finding a cure for cancer’ bureauocracy/business. The ‘cure’ is layatril (I hope I spelled that correctly) in our daily diet. Layatril is found in seeds of apples and grapes, in the pits of cheerys and apricots (the BEST source is Apricot pits), millet and some other sources with less concentration. Antibiotics have stripped the intestines of the average person of the little bactii whose job it is to clean up toxic waste in the system. We eat low fat yogert – not balkan style WITH the live culture and we sterilize the good bacteria out of all other products so our systems are defensless against the open warfare of cancer and other ‘growing’ diseases. To confirm the value of what I say , type in ‘Hunsa people’ on google and check out the diet of these tobacco smoking, cancer free people. The ‘cancer thing was cooked up to help big pharmacutical companies to sell nicotine replacements, antibiotics, drugs to sleep, drugs for pain…..and to maintain the Cancer research outfits. My Mom knew about Layatril years ago, she smashed and chopped apricot and cherry pits and put them into her “Best in the world” jams. She gave jam to five tobacco smoking, coffee drinking, beer and whiskey drinking people. Not one of us has cancer – most of mom’s ‘reprobates’ have been smoking cigarettes and cigars for over forty years. A daily dose of vitimins is the BEST thing for what ails you. AND get the smoke thugs out of people’s lives – this is a isolating, radical, fanatical form of discrimination. It should not be tolerated.
‘The Sheaf’ should shreek about the abonmidable intrusion of government forcing businesses out of business and forcing people into their own houses to enjoy a legal cigarette and a cup of coffee or a drink. Score some points for Freedom in this land of ‘control freaks’.

  17. “Roots”? Find the “Roots”? Murderous Islam: “Mohammad was a good guy.” Surprise, surprise! Notice the weasel words: “allegedly drove an SUV”.+
UNC Attacker Will Use Trial to Proselytize
The Muslim psychology graduate who allegedly drove an SUV into a crowd of students at UNC-Chapel Hill appeared in court today and said he intends to use his trial to tell people about Allah: UNC attacker appears in court.
HILLSBOROUGH Mohammed Reza Taheri-azar, the 22-year-old former UNC student charged with trying to run down other students at the University of North Carolina on Friday, thanked the judge Monday during his first appearance for the opportunity tell people about Allah.
Im thankful youre here to give me this trial to learn more about the will of Allah, the creator and the merciful, Taheri-azar said to the judge during the short hearing in Orange County District Criminal Court.
    ….
Meanwhile, the University is urging students to understand the root causes so they can take constructive action, and not to jump to any conclusions about terrorism, even though Mohammad Taheri-azar attempted to commit mass murder in the name of Allah. In his own words.
Students To Protest UNCs Reluctance To Label Pit Incident Terrorism.
CHAPEL HILL, N.C. Protests are planned for Monday in the same area of campus at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where, authorities said, a former student plowed a sport utility vehicle into nine people Friday afternoon.
The College Republicans, Americans for an Informed Democracy and the Foundation for the Defense of Democracies are sponsoring the event, scheduled for 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Monday in The Pit, a central area of the UNC-Chapel Hill campus. The event is open to the public and free of charge.
Police said Mohammad Taheri-azar, a 2005 UNC-Chapel Hill graduate, admits he acted to avenge the death of Muslims around the world. UNC police and local authorities, however, say they have not taken a stance on that interpretation, but are simply repeating what the suspect has told them.
UNC-Chapel Hill student leaders said that Mondays protest is aimed at the reluctance of the university to label Fridays incident as an act of terrorism. This is innocent people being attacked by an SUV, driven by a man who was doing it for retaliation for treatment of Muslims around the world, said Jillian Bandes, with the Foundation for the Defense of Democracies. To me, that spells terrorism.
Taheri-azar, who is currently in Raleighs Central Prison under a $5.5 million bond, is charged with nine counts of attempted first-degree murder and nine counts of assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury with intent to kill. …
But were Taheri-azars alleged actions acts of terrorism?
I think (what Taheri-azar did) is extreme, said Dan VanAtta, a friend of the suspect. But then again, I dont know what was going through his head. Mohammed was a good guy.
David Schanzer, the director of the Triangle Center on Terrorism and Homeland Security at Duke University and UNC-Chapel Hill, said it is fine for students to voice their dismay, but that they should be cautious. (They should) understand the roots of it and understand the strategies for addressing it in a constructive way, Schanzer said.
He takes the same position as officials at the Islamic Center of Raleigh…

    CTV [Czech] documentary angers Muslims
A television documentary has enraged Muslims in the Czech Republic by taking a hidden camera into a mosque and filming the real opinions of the local Muslim community: CTV documentary angers Muslims. (Hat tip: LGF readers.)
Ambassadors to the Czech Republic from Arab nations and members of the Czech Muslim community say they are outraged by a documentary aired on CTV last fall that used hidden camera footage of conversations in a Prague mosque and spliced it they say unfairly with images of terrorism.
The reaction is usually immediate, while in this case it took a month for any reaction to appear and two months for it to grow, says Jiri Ovecka, the documentarys producer. It was the same with the Muhammad cartoons. …
The Council of Arabic Ambassadors to Prague is now renewing its protest about the undercover footage first aired Oct. 7 in the documentary I, Muslim on the public station CT2. Members of the Muslim community first filed a complaint with the Czech Radio and Television Broadcasting Council (RRTV) that month, claiming the program is biased, provokes fear and manipulates footage to promote false stereotypes.
It was made in a confrontational style, says Vladimir Sanka, head of the Islamic Center in Prague. We see it as a one-sided documentary, which evokes a distorted look at Islam in the eyes of the Czech public. +

  19. Jema54: Are you on drugs girl? Now cancer is a conspiracy by the drug companies? Your mama and family were probably blessed by good genes and not strictly good diet. Yeah, I know an old cigar smoking, brandy codger of 95 too. They are all over the world but I have also seen infants with cancer that were still on the teat and too young to suck on apricots.
Cancer is not just one disease but many and what helps prevent one does not necessarily mean it helps all. I know because I work in the field and trust me I speak for many colleagues who would just love to lose their jobs due to lack of work. I dare you to look into the eyes of a terminal cancer patient and tell them they should have had your mama’s preserves.

  22. I was talking with my grandmother awhile back, and she remarked that when they were on the farm and until a short time after WWII, all these diseases we hear/see now were rare. Obesity, diabetes, cancer, mental disorders, etc etc were rarely seen. Coincidentally, it has only been since just after the war that we started to really get into processed foods. You have to wonder about the emergence of these diseases like the cancers, and the timing of the “processed age”. What are the long-term effects of all those additives in our food… the ones that we can’t pronounce? Nobody knows, as it was never studied long-term. One minute dose of mercury isn’t life-altering, but several minute doses/wk over the course of yrs will be. I suspect it will/would be the same for all those chemicals we ingest in and out of our food every day. When life was simple on the farm, cancer was rare, very rare. Doesn’t anyone read labels or cook from scratch any more? We are what we “eat”. If that changes our genetics, and we perpetuate it, where are we headed? Sometimes, old technology is still the best way in alot of things. Honey never goes bad… because it doesn’t support bacterial growth. That makes it an excellent antiseptic, which has been successfully used for the last several thousand yrs. Kills bacteria, keeps tissue alive, promotes faster healing. Oil of Oregano kills viruses, bacteria, fungus… taken internally or externally.
My point is, the drug companies DON’T want us to know these things, it’s bad for business. Just because they tout something, doesn’t mean its good for us (thalidimide). Same for food companies. All that sh*t in the food they push…. doesn’t mean it’s good for us. If you can’t pronounce it, you prolly shouldn’t eat it. Which reminds me, I thanked my mum for NOT taking Thalidimide. Then she told me it WAS offered to her by her doctor, but she refused it. Guess who gets flowers on my birthday!

This really needs to be a top priority, as you will see in the video, especially when Victor tries to interview the guy in charge of Immigration. The “un”civil servant’s attitude is… offensive! As the immigration lawyer said, it’s not the Minister that needs changing, it’s the bureaucrats in charge that need the firing. Law-abiding “refugees that have been allowed to stay, invested in Canada, had a family here, worked, paid taxes, are being “turfed” while rapists, scammers, drug dealers live here with impunity. OUTRAGEOUS! Clearly the bureaucrats at Immigration Canada have failed in their mandate to protect the citizens of Canada and need to be FIRED, NOW. At last count, in ’04 there were approx. 35,000 “undesirables” on DEPORT list, that are still here, somewhere. Some are in prison, the rest walking amongst us… continuing their lives of crime. Perhaps ALOT of pressure from the press AND public might get changes in management implemented.
Thanks JM… for posting the links and bringing it out for all to see.

  25. Income-trust probe turns to Brison
SINCLAIR STEWART , STEVEN CHASE and BRIAN LAGHI
    From Tuesday’s Globe and Mail
TORONTO and OTTAWA The Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce has turned over an e-mail received from Liberal MP Scott Brison to police and regulators as part of a probe into the income-trust controversy that dogged the Liberals in the recent election campaign, The Globe and Mail has learned.
Sources said the former public works minister, a potential contender for the Liberal leadership, sent an e-mail to one of CIBC’s employees the day before Ottawa announced its much-anticipated policy on income trusts last November, in which he suggested the recipient would likely be pleased by the decision.

Mr. Brison said his advance knowledge of the decision was only what he read in the newspapers.
“I’m unequivocal on that there was absolutely no information that I had,” he said.
“I was not part of a cabinet discussion or decision-making process on that issue.”
When asked later whether he personally had a communication in which he might have speculated on the outcome without firm knowledge, Mr. Brison said “No,” adding, “You’re asking me something in terms of communication that I don’t remember. I don’t recall anything.”
Mr. Brison also would not say whether he had been questioned by police.
“I’m not going to comment,” he said. … +

A Muslim rape epidemic in sweeping over Europe — and over many other nations host to immigrants from the Islamic world. The direct connection between the rapes and Islam is irrefutable, as Muslims are significantly overrepresented among convicted rapists and rape suspects. The Muslim perpetrators themselves boast that there crime is justified since their victims were, among other things, not properly veiled.

Martin has private UN meeting with Annan
‘No note takers’ in room for encounter held at ex-PM’s request
    Steven Edwards, The Ottawa Citizen
    Published: Tuesday, March 07, 2006
UNITED NATIONS – After a vacation in Europe, former prime minister Paul Martin met privately yesterday with UN Secretary General Kofi Annan — a day before the UN chief unveils major proposals for a management shakeup at the organization.
UN sources said Mr. Martin requested the noon get-together, adding there were “no note takers” in the room as would be usual if the pair were discussing official business.
“They discussed issues that were of mutual interest to one another,” one official confided. “There was nothing specific that we know of.”
Mr. Martin worked with the UN several years ago when he co-chaired a high-level commission exploring ways small business could be harnessed to advance the economies of developing countries. The post, which he held alongside former Mexican president Ernesto Zedillo, gave him an international platform while he was in the “political wilderness” following his resignation as finance minister in 2002.
Following his own re-election the House of Commons, Mr. Martin has been in Europe resting after the Liberal party’s Jan. 23 election defeat.
Officials at Foreign Affairs, which leads Canada’s contacts with the UN, did not appear to be aware of the UN visit. A spokesman for Mr. Martin said it “was a private meeting,” but added he “is obviously interested in ensuring that his previous efforts on the international front — including his task force — keep their momentum.”
Mr. Annan is launching his management reform ideas a week after announcing other senior appointments, including a replacement for Louise Frechette, the Canadian deputy secretary general, who will leave the organization later this year. +

Thanks again. I do have trouble understanding C&I’s total lack of enforcement of the rules. If an immigrant/refugee of wotever class breaks the laws of this country and faces gaol/prison time, I don’t understand what is so hard about meeting said person at gaol/prison gates and immediately deporting them on next avail. transport. The Jamaican woman… 57 convictions so far, and facing another 120 counts?!?!?!?! and STILL she is here, somewhere. Never mind luis from Guatamala with assault, rape and other REPEAT charges and STILL here. Thankfully the “bleedinghearts” have been protecting us from these people. I have no doubt these criminal’s ability to stay here would be seriously cut short if it was some C&I bureaucrats relatives that were victimized. It’s a shame to see honest, hardworking people getting turfed after investing in Canada whilest the scum continue preying on others, unhindered. Hopefully with the new govt. things will get changed at the bureaucratic top.
