Confronting Barbarism

Victor Davis Hanson annihilates popular geo-political relativism;

Apparently, the West and Israel are not only to give to Hamas some breathing space (“a truce”), but also to subsidize it while it gets its second wind to renew the struggle to annihilate the Jewish state.
All this lunacy is understood only in a larger surreal landscape. Tibet is swallowed by China. Much of Greek Cyprus is gobbled up by Turkish forces. Germany is 10-percent smaller today than in 1945. Yet only in the Middle East is there even a term “occupied land,” one that derived from the military defeat of an aggressive power.
Over a half-million Jews were forcibly cleansed from Baghdad, Damascus, Cairo, and other Arab cities after the 1967 war; but only on the West Bank are there still refugees who lost their homes. Over a million people were butchered in Rwanda; thousands die each month in Darfur. The world snoozes. Yet less than 60 are killed in a running battle in Jenin, and suddenly the 1.5 million lost in Stalingrad and Leningrad are evoked as the moral objects of comparison, as the globe is lectured about “Jeningrad.”
Now the Islamic world is organizing boycotts of Denmark because one of its newspapers chose to run a cartoon supposedly lampooning the prophet Mohammed. We are supposed to forget that it is de rigueur in raucous Scandinavian popular culture to attack Christianity with impunity. Much less are we to remember that Hamas terrorists occupied and desecrated the Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem in a globally televised charade.
Instead, Danish officials are threatened, boycotts organized, ambassadors recalled and, yes, Bill Clinton steps forward to offer another lip-biting apology while garnering lecture fees in the oil-rich Gulf, in the manner of his mea culpa last year to the Iranian mullacracy. There is now a pattern to Clintonian apologies they almost always occur overseas and on someone else’s subsidy.

Read the whole thing.
Meanwhile, the Danish Embassy in Syria is burning, and the western media apologensia are moving to side with the barbarians.
The art of placating Muslim princes has a long history.
Is this latest clash the new millenium’s Archduke Ferdinand moment, as some have suggested? Muslims should ferverently hope not. But whatever the next few months and years have to bring, one thing is certain – the “secular” western left is soon going to be forced to declare just whose side they’re on. Because at the moment, the answer to that question is not entirely clear.
Update – New German Chancellor Angela Merkel is confronting it – in no uncertain terms.

Speaking of Iran, this also marks Day 10,954 of silence from the feminist movement.

Update 2 – now, the not-ready-for-primetime government of Iran is now threatening to impose sanctions – on itself.

76 Replies to “Confronting Barbarism”

  1. The rioting goes too far – but then again, so did those cartoons. Judeo-Christian culture has never had a problem making fun of itself – other cultures (such as, for example, the Muslim culture) don’t quite go that far with their religious beliefs.
I’ve posted a bit more detail at my blog, http://kendblog.blogspot.com

  2. Spare me the international dirt, and get my house,(and YOUR HOUSE), in order, first! Quebec Hydro, (using insider information), rips off Newfoundland over hydro power in Labrador- forty years ago! (The Newfies are still fighting this in ‘court’)HRDC ‘loses’ a billion bucks, (we know where some of it went). The ‘gun registry’ (we may-or may not- get to the bottom of that), and now-ADSCUM………Duh!
    Are you all braindead?

  3. Let the nukes begin.
On the other hand, this might just blow over, excuse the pun. 15 minutes of fame. But unfortunately our society has become one of non-confrontational, and with the left screaming bloody murder (mind you they probably murder enough in their lifetimes from greed and corruption-but that’s another post) no one wants to trust the US to do the right thing and shut this guy up.
It will be an interesting year. If we manage to pacify the Mulla of Iran, we’ll roll over and go back to sleep, then be very afraid.
This culture is not known to follow the Geneva convention or “rules of engagement”. Blowing up ones sons is a national treasure. We can only hope they either come to their senses or run out of sons, or virgins for that matter – love the comic strip.
It’s almost like multi-level marketing. If you get two and they get two…eventually you’ll be a millionaire, not knowing you need at least a base of 1.2 million down line to achieve this.
Dang, MLM is another post gotta keep on topic.

    The Dutch Mohammed Photoshop Contest
Tempting fate (and fatwa), Dutch blog Retecool is running the Amazing Mohammed Photoshop Contest. Warning: may cause seething >>> via LGF

    Re-reading William Manchester’s “Alone”
    Wretchard
    Excerpt:
At present the crisis is not a danger to the grand strategies of either. But as the days pass the danger grows that it may get out of hand; that some Islamic cell may detonate a bomb in Europe or some skinhead burn a mosque. And then the consequences may incalculable. For America an open antipathy between the West and Islam would destroy its carefully crafted attempt to ally itself with the Muslim street. It would place Washington in the intolerable position of having to choose between its old European allies and its newfound friends in the Middle East and Central Asia. For Europe the consequences would be no less disastrous because in following the policy of Appeasement its leaders have risked falling so far behind their publics that they now find themselves unable to steer the course of popular events. Europe is angry and Chirac, like Chamberlain after the Sudeten crisis, is too far behind the curve of popular opinion to seize its leadership. Chamberlain understood it and brought Churchill into his cabinet to bolster his credentials when he himself had none.
The Dutch blog Zacht Ei shows how far things have come in the space of a few days.
In a move which is both courageous and stupid, Dutch blogger ‘Reet’ (a Dutch colloquialism for ‘ass’) of the blog ‘Retecool’ (a Dutch colloquialism for, er, “really” cool) has started a Photoshop contest in which participants create parodies of Mohammed. The contest can be viewed here (a mirror can be found here).
A contest to humiliate Mohammed has been launched not in Texas, not in Israel but in the Netherlands. The Netherlands. Almost inconceivable. A smoldering match in a continent riddled with unassimilated Muslim enclaves. Now the European leaders who staked their careers on political correctness and oleagenous kowtowing to radical Islam find themselves unable to assert themselves. It’s a moment when Nicolas Sarkozy or Hirsi Ali may count for more in dampening the anti-Mohammed wave than Chirac or Dominique de Villepin. The key challenge for the leaders of Europe is how to get out in front of their publics; hard because they are so far behind.
Yet the cartoon crisis has been cruelest to radical Islam because it has upset the timetable for the slow demographic conquest of Europe. It forced the crisis before the time was ripe to win an outright trial of strength. And it has deranged the carefully crafted plan to hold Europe politically neutral while the Islamists concentrated their force on their most dangerous enemy, the United States. Unless the Islamists can reverse or at least pause the process of confrontation it will find itself engaged on two fronts, against Europe and the United States simultaneously.
Like all historical comparisons this one is inexact. The world of the late 1930s can never be compared to the opening decade of the 21st century. Nazism is not Islam nor is Hitler Osama Bin Laden. But I think some valid correspondences still remain between the Phoney War and the period between September 11 to the present. Both are marked by an attempt to maintain a disintegrating status quo long after it became imperative to exchange it for a new model of relationships. Both are marked by miscalculation as political leaders find themselves struggling to overtake the tide of events. Both mark the end of the last boundaries between the familiar and the dark, unknown future. What did Churchill feel, one wonders, in those desperate days when he did not know the end yet went on?
I wonder what sort of a tale weve fallen into? said Sam. I wonder, said Frodo. >>>

  5. And now they have burned down the Norwegian and Danish embassies in Syria!!…how soon before this insanity come to Canada…do we wait for another 9/11 and another 3000, 4000 or 10000 deaths of inoocent civilians before we in North America do the cheapest thing all around …DEPORT THEM ALL…NOW!!!
MASS DEPORTATION before we have a situation like France and the UK have right NOW..before it is too late.

  6. Great articles. The whole issue points to western civilization’s vulnerabilities and complacencies. A cartoon (a match) sets of a firestorm of self-serving indignation that we in the western world find hard to understand and inconceivable. There is a sense of purpose and unity that exists in Islam that we most certainly don’t have.
What concerns me is when oil consuming countries talk about weaning themselves off of Middle East oil, one of the responses of the Middle East could be to get rid of the competition, e.g. the tar sands. Oil revenues are their life-blood.

  7. As the martian said in the comic movie Mars Atacks when asked by the President (Jack Nicholson) what do you want from us; “We want you to die..ARKK ARKK!!”
There is NO accomodation with these people; they out of their minds on a massive scale; it is the 14th century. Period.
The sooner we in North America realize this the sooner we stop wasting time, money and lives and do the ONLY thing we can..DEPORT THEM ALL NOW!
MASS DEPORTATION before we end up like France, the Netherlans or the UK today.

  8. I love Victor Davis Hanson. This guy cuts to the chase. Sorta like Mark Steyn but different. When these guys speak I listen. I could name a few others.
I wish there were another way out of this mess but I don’t think there is. There will be a world wide war with these barbarians from the Middle Ages. It’s already started. This is the main reason I’m against firearm legislation. One day, if the nations of the Western World don’t deal effectively with this situation, their citizens will. Canada will not be spared when that day arrives.
I agree with Al about the Tar Sands.

  9. Kate: You’re in error. It is entirely clear, it has always been clear, and it will continue to be clear. The left HATES western civilization, except for the creature comforts it provides.
I look on the Cartoon Caper as a very constructive developement. Multi-culti is now stone cold dead. Even the euro-effetes get it.

  10. This story is about the rule of unintended consequences. The feckless west, long focused on its middle class guilt and fear and loathing, gets slapped in the face by the Islamists. But this is temporary. The Islamists are simply incoherently nuts. If not backed by the Americans, the Afghani jihad would have been destroyed as fast as a cruise missle wings to its target. The sane among the west, in other words the vast majority, need not fear these disorganized, immature cowards. If a couple of FBI pettifogers in Washington had done their job, Mohamed Atta would be rotting in jail, September 11, 2001 would have been another beautiful late summer day in NY and Washington. The Taliban of Europe have neither a foothold nor will they ever get one. It all about using the tools we have to assimilate. Surely everyone now knows that accomodating these nutbars any further is folly. I don’t fear the Islamists and I don’t like them either. Trudeau got it right in the 70’s. We just need some more leaders ready to not accomodate and say, “Just watch me!”

  11. We do have such a leader. His name is George Bush and with perhaps the best of intentions he’s managed to throw a lot of gas on this fire. Most of the world sees an upsurge in terrorism as a consequence of operation Enduring Freedom. Only the party faithful seem blinkered to the connection.

  12. John, Hear! Hear! on VHD, Steyn but different. There’s also that great English physician-commentator, Darylrimple. Check him out if you’re not familiar with him. A formidable mind.
Compliments on who above referred to 9/11 to now as the “Phony War”: indeed.
Religion of Peace: Yes it is, in fact! In Islam there are two territories in the world: dar al-Harb (House of War) and dar al-Islam (House of Submission, or House of God). PEACE is when we’re all in dar al-Islam. Multi-culti is war by the insalment plan; the failed attempt to introduce sharia law in Ontario was part of that war on the instalment plan.

  13. Congratulations to the Globe for its editorial Feb. 4, “Their wild overreaction”, and to Rex Murphy for his column, “In the name of God, stop the madness” (full texts are sadly not online).
    From the editorial:
“The uproar underlines an alarming tendency in Islamic societies to lash out at the West at the slightest provocation. When a few simple drawings, however controversial, can trigger outrage from Cairo to Khartoum, it is clear that something is askew in the psyche of a civilization. To put it plainly, the Islamic world has a chip on its shoulder.
It is commonplace in the Islamic world to blame the West for nearly everything that goes wrong…
In truth, most of the Islamic world’s problems – from economic stagnation to political paralysis, from the oppression of women to poor levels of eduction – are homegrown. By and large, these societies have failed to come to grips with the modern world and as a result have fallen far behind much of the rest of the planet…”
    From Rex:
“…Whole swathes – not all, be it noted – of the Muslim world believe that if their religious sensibilities are offended, they have both the right and the duty to threaten violence and death to the offenders…
Furthermore, they are insisting that their values and their code apply outside their own religion and their own countries. It is astonishingly insolent. Considering the treatment that some in the press in some of those countries accord Christians and Jews – a recent mini-series on the Protocols of the Elders of Zion in Lebanon and Egypt, the frequent anti-Semitic editorial cartoons -it is levitatingly hypocritical as well…
It is worth noting that however offensive the cartoons of the Prophet may have been, they cannot be as offensive as the many real suicide bombings that have been executed in the Prophet’s name…’
One member of the MSM earns its keep.

  14. And a Mulsim view from Der Spiegel:
    http://service.spiegel.de/cache/international/0,1518,398853,00.html
‘Best-selling author and Muslim dissident Ibn Warraq argues that freedom of expression is our western heritage and we must defend it against attacks from totalitarian societies. If the west does not stand in solidarity with the Danish, he argues, then the Islamization of Europe will have begun in earnest…
“The cartoons in the Danish newspaper Jyllands-Posten raise the most important question of our times: freedom of expression. Are we in the west going to cave into pressure from societies with a medieval mindset, or are we going to defend our most precious freedom — freedom of expression, a freedom for which thousands of people sacrificed their lives?
A democracy cannot survive long without freedom of expression, the freedom to argue, to dissent, even to insult and offend. It is a freedom sorely lacking in the Islamic world, and without it Islam will remain unassailed in its dogmatic, fanatical, medieval fortress; ossified, totalitarian and intolerant. Without this fundamental freedom, Islam will continue to stifle thought, human rights, individuality; originality and truth…
This raises another more general problem: the inability of the West to defend itself intellectually and culturally. Be proud, do not apologize. Do we have to go on apologizing for the sins our fathers? ..
How can we expect immigrants to integrate into western society when they are at the same time being taught that the west is decadent, a den of iniquity, the source of all evil, racist, imperialist and to be despised? Why should they, in the words of the African-American writer James Baldwin, want to integrate into a sinking ship? ..
Freedom of expression is our western heritage and we must defend it or it will die from totalitarian attacks. It is also much needed in the Islamic world. By defending our values, we are teaching the Islamic world a valuable lesson, we are helping them by submitting their cherished traditions to Enlightenment values.”‘
    Quite.

  15. Jose,
You do realize the Enduring Freedom was the invasion of Afghanistan, right? Iraq was Iraqi Freedom.

  16. “Wind ’em up tight!”
In keeping with Kate’s 26 January recommendation:
‘Watching the reaction from some in the “progressive” camp over Harper’s habit of closing his speeches with “God Bless Canada”, my suggestion to our incoming Prime MInister is this: Faster, Please.
‘The greater part of the success of the Bush administration’s ability to win elections lies, not in the electoral support of the so-called “religious right” (which is more media mythology than reality), but in their ability to provoke the “loony left” to come unhinged in front of ordinary Americans.
‘When a conservative invokes God, no matter how generically, the left cannot help but expose their seething intolerance of all things Christian – thus, shining a spotlight on the highly selective nature of the “diversity” they champion.’
My question: Is there anyone out there any good at writing Muhammed limericks in Arabic?

  17. Who is reclining on the theological La-Z-Boy?

  18. Jose: Bush throwing gas on the flames?
That is stuff and nonsense. Bush didn’t cause the slaughter of 3000 innocents on 9/11. Bush responded with strength and resolve. You only need to listen to bin Laden who sees people as “strong horses” or “weak horses” — that’s all these medieval madmen understand. Bush inherited the legacy of decades of weak-horse appeasers (yes even Reagan cut and ran!) ending with his eminence hollywood-rock star-first black president-lip-biting feel-your-pain Clinton. And he’s still at it, the seditious bastard.

  19. Danish Muslims Threaten Violence if Koran is Burned
At the radical Islamic propaganda center IslamOnline.com, we learn of a Danish nationalist groups plans to burn a Koran at a rally: Danish Muslims Warn of Burning Quran in Planned Rally. (Hat tip: Link Mecca.)
CAIRO, February 4, 2006 (IslamOnline.net) Danish Muslim leaders warned on Saturday, February 4, of grave consequences if copies of the Noble Quran were burnt in a rally planned by Danish extremists to protest Muslim anger over cartoons mocking Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
All hell will break loose, if those extremists burn the Quran, Raed Halil, the head of the European Committee for Defending Prophet Muhammad, told IslamOnline.net over the phone from the Danish capital Copenhagen.
Burning the Danish embassy, however, is just fine. >>

  20. Jose,
It’s people that think LIKE YOU that are the real culprits in the WOT.
I’d like to suggest to you that you roll over, go back to sleep, while the real men and women go about eliminating this threat.
You can wax your balls too and marry your boyfriend while you’re at it.

  21. It is time that western democracies understand that there is a war on. Serious consideration to enforcing treason laws is warranted by the current climate. Scenes of British Muslims chanting slogans such as “UK you will pay” or signs referring to the “Fantastic Four” suicide terrorists of July 7th demand a response.
As time goes by these groups become stronger and bolder with each success. It is time we give them the fight they have been trying to pick with us for years. This is our society which they chose to join. We grant these new comers the same freedoms as all others. Some of them use them in order to fund wars, attack other religious groups, and try to turn their communities into annexes of the Middle East.
The radicals feel able to say and do what ever they please with no obligation to their “adopted” countries. If they are not willing to integrate with western society they must be removed or destroyed.
I will not tolerate a foreign man with a foreign religion, and foreign customs and laws attempt to impose these tings on me or my society. When he came here he knew of our customs, laws, and beliefs. If he found them objectionable he should not have come or should leave. If he has chosen to request and has been granted membership in western society through citizenship he must meet the obligations and standards of behavior that citizenship brings with it. If he actively works against the society he has adopted such as the Kadar family he is guilty of betrayal and should be charged with treason.
Internally it is the police who must defend us. They are not right now. If they were they would apply the law. If they government was performing its duty it would order the police to apply the law. This would cause riots or worse. However, it is better to make your enemy respond to you, rather than you to your enemy.
As a member of the armed forces I am prepared to use violence to defend our western society and beliefs from attack. It is time for myself and colleges to be let of the leash and get this war over with. Several groups and counties are doing all they can to undermine and weaken us from within and without. Europe’s handling of the Nazi problem shows what we can expect if we wait. With the stakes set by the Iranian nuclear programme the problem with the Nazis could well end up being small in comparison.
The response to some simple cartoons has done wonders unmasking the savage in our midst. Now we must act. We all owe a debt of gratitude to the staff of Jyllands-Posten.

  22. What if you don’t subscribe to any religion but unrestrained neanderthal theocratic mob politics puts you in a position where your civil sensibilities are intolerant of this? It’s not socially sentient demonstration, it’s not principled dissent, its frenzied tribalism focused at warring with anyone or anything that is not “with” the mob.
I swear if this unevolved monkey crap ever happens in this nation I will be pushing for mass deportations of the sypathetic and the agitators.
Again the domestic Muslim leadership who are supposed to be so evolved and beyond the politics of the mob and terrorism have been conspicuously silent in condemning such barbaric behaviours.

  23. Mark, I too was impressed by that great column by Rex. I can’t imagine that anyone at the Globe or the CBC even talk to him. He seems so completely outside their respective company lines.

  24. Perhaps the CBC will make a film of Mohammed having his gonads waxed.
On a more serious note, the Danes deserve our support and admiration. There was a time when Canadians were known for standing by their friends and allies. In response to Muslim threats, perhaps the blogosphere should launch a “buy Danish” campaign?
I am on my way out to buy a block of Danish Havarti, a delicious cheese.
The Danish embassy lists its email address as ottamb@um.dk — a brief email note of support, saying that a purchase has been made might be an idea.

  25. Malloy, re: “do we wait for another 9/11 and another 3000, 4000 or 10000 deaths of inoocent civilians before we in North America do the cheapest thing all around …DEPORT THEM ALL…NOW!!!
MASS DEPORTATION before we have a situation like France and the UK have right NOW..before it is too late.”
Malloy, I beg to differ. There are many peaceful law-abiding Muslims who do not deserve this type of suspicion and treatment. It is the extremists who must be targetted and dealt with. Sadly, Western/European governments have been too lenient, too lax in dealing with the extremists, but obviously this must change and soon. What would help would be more support from the moderate Muslim world in speaking out and putting the hotheads in their place. I can understand why individual moderates may be reluctant to speak out, since they may have relatives in ME or Islamic countries, but certainly the moderate leaders should be more front and center in opposing the extremists.
Western and European governments need to bring much more presure on the governments of western-friendly Islamic nations to bring extremists within their borders under control.
As for those Islamic nation governments who are openly anti-western and advocating/supporting terrorism and jihad, the only solution there will likely be UN led sanctions or more likely military action to oust the extremists.

  26. anonymous_sailo: There was no “invasion” of Afghanistan.
Before the fall of Kabul to the insurgent Afghan Northern Alliance in November 2001, and the consequent collapse of the Taliban regime, there were no foreign regular combat formations in Afghanistan. The Northern Alliance did receive air support and assistance from special forces (both US and British); that however is not an invasion. Substantial foreign ground combat forces–including Canadian–only entered the country after the Taliban had been deposed by indigenous Afghan forces, and those foreign troops entered with the agreement of the Northern Alliance.
This is no mere semantic quibble. Describing what the US and UK did in Afghanistan as an “invasion” tends to equate those actions in people’s minds with the real invasion of Iraq. That equation implicitly and wrongly calls into question the legitimacy of NATO and Coalition actions in Afghanistan, which have been authorised by the UN Security Council.

  27. As I expected this rubbish about not showing pictures of Mohamed is selective crap.
I came across a site (via The Gates of Vienna) that shows many pictures of Mohamed lots of them are Islamic. 28. IMHO, the left IS clear about whose side they are on.

The Baathists (sp?) are a national socialist party (as were the German Nazis).

The left love Castro and Chavez.

The left has never met a dictator they did not like or at the very least appease.

Eason Jorden (the head of CNN at the time) admitted to being blackmailed by Sadam in the NY Times and THAT was ignored and excused.

    The left will never change.

A Fatwa a Day Keeps the Jihad Away
Yesterday afternoon it looked, for a time, like the first official fatwa had been issued against The Jawa Report’s own Dread Pundit Bluto. On closer examination it turns out that Bluto gave himself a fatwa. Doesn’t he know that fatwaing yourself makes you go blind?
Here is some more fatwa worthy material. Again, if you sit on a Shura council or are a Mullah, please be specific as to which Jawa Report author gets the fatwa. If you are one of the elusive ‘moderate’ Muslims we keep hearing about, then sorry to offend you. But, better to offend the moderate and expose the extremist than to forever pretend that the extremist doesn’t exist.

    Well put.

  31. Joe “canuck” (I doubt it)
Look mate we cannot screw around anymore with the muslims. It is too dangerous. We cannot sift through lists of islamists and say oh maybe this one is moderate or maybe slightly extremely moderate or moderately extreme or extremely moderate today, maybe not tomorrow but maybe yes next month or next year. etc etc etc
IT TAKES TOO MUCH TIME and costs WAY too much money. The enemy is AMONG us and as long as it is permitted to co-exist the threat to us is very serious right NOW!
When will they strike here; how many will they kill this time…. Who is responsible if thousands of innocent civilians living their lives peacefully are immolated tomorrow?
This threat must expunged forever. NOW!

  32. Ironically WWIV or (is it V now) started over a cartoon.

  33. “Mohammed, Prophet of Islam is known as the “Apostle of Peace” by Muslims. Nothing can be further from the truth.
This article is just one of a series that I will be publishing regarding sadistic cruel nature of Prophet Mohammed. In this article I will prove once again, that Mohammed was in fact a terrorist, criminal and murderer whose entire life was based on victimizing innocents and indulging in mindless violence, carnage and massacre. He was a man who destroyed peace wherever he went, and in its place brought terror, carnage and death”
I have read all of the links on this and it becomes clear to me that islam is a bogus religious movement. They claim that mohammed is the word of god but with the truth on his conquests he is a terrorist! My opinion on islam has been strengthened by this to the effect that this cult needs to be banned in the western hemisphere. A terrorist has taken the words of Jesus and distorted his reasoning for the conquest and creation of a totaliritarian regime. Mohammed is a terrorist dictator and totally against all of Jesus’s teachings; and as such the muslim cult must be banned in Canada.

Just like the newspapers in Europe claim that they only want to defend the freedom of speech and do not desire to stigmatise Muslims,we also do stress that our cartoons are not meant as an offence to anybody and ought not to be taken as a statement against any group, community or historical fact.
If it is the time to break Taboos and cross all the red lines, we certainly do not want to stay behind. >>> http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1571877/posts

  39. If I remember correctly the U.S. was attacked on 9/11. Which means, war was declared on the U.S.A. Not only was it attacked but the cowards used American citizens and American planes to do their dirty work. No country, well maybe Canuckstan, would sit on their duffs and turn the other cheek. The U.S took the war to them. It’s too damn bad they didn’t have the guts to demolish everthing. No-one wants to see citizens of these countries killed, but how the hell do stop this without the death of innocents. And, who are the innocents? Try as you might – your not going to be able to figure out the good seed from the bad. It is a problem that we in this country are going to have to deal with. I believe in freedom of religion. This nation was built on Christian values because that was the values that our fore-fathers brought with them from France, Britain and Europe. Like it or not they are Christian and the majority in this country adhere to those values whether we are religious or not. I am so fed up with these political nut cases that are offended by the statement – God Bless Canada. I have spent most of my life in the study of world religions. Some of the philosophies I have adapted to my own life. I have come to realize that all religions had something to add to civilization, but I have never been able to find anything in the Islamic religion that has given some sense of stability or righteousness to this world. It was founded on barbarism and from the looks of it – it has not matured into anything other.
We are going to have to make a choice very soon. Do we allow more into this country. There is no way you can get truth out of people who have spent their lives in denial and brainwashing. How do we look at our Islamic neighbours that live in our communities. I can tell you how we will be looking at them – with alot of skepticism. So what do we do? When you cannot figure out who your enemy is you must take the exceptional other option. They will all be condemned. We will have to deport them regardless if they have become Canadian citizens.
Now, you go ahead and condemn me for being racist. That’s all well and good, but when the chips are down we will all become quite fierce in the protection of our love ones. It is a great future we have ahead but it is one we will not be able to ignore or hope that our national gentility can overcome. There won’t be any national gentility.

  40. A cult by any name is a cult never the less. I reserve the right as a free man to ridicule any and all cults. I just bought some Tuborg beer and a nice hunk of cheese. Islam wants a war? Bring it on!

  41. There’s also that great English physician-commentator, Darylrimple
    Yikes! John, I love Darylrimple.
He can be found at City Journal:
    http://www.city-journal.org/
    (Hit the search authors tab.)
He’s the British equivalent to Charles Krauthammer. Both are psychiatrists. Darylrimple is a better writer who lays bare the stupidity of the Liberal pc and multi-culti nonsense that has infected Britian. (We have our work cut out taking back our English speaking heritage from these leftists moonbats in the US, Canada and Britain.)

  42. Muslim stores in Toronto are boycotting Danish goods. They are pulling them off the shelves and disgarding them. Has everyone got this picture! What will it take for the Lefties here on this board and elsewhere in Canauckstan to understand what is going on. Do you not believe it is about time we boycott our delightful convenience stores that are run by the Muslim – Canadians to express our displeasure at them standing up for the Barbaric actions of a few. Maybe the few are acting out but it seems that the many are with them. Since we don’t have the weapons that these Muslim idiots have then we can attack where it really hurts – in the pocket book. Oh, but that does sound cruel doesn’t it Joe Canuck.

  43. This will make sure no western govt gives aid of any kind to Hammas. Seems like Iran is imposing their own sanctions by breaking deals. Time to get tough and face the facts many have been telling us for years. This is a war on our civilization. Jews were rounded up in Germany, Japanese in the US and Canada. (at least we didn’t kill them) Time to round up all Islamic followers in Canada and the US and the rest of the western world. Europe better open their eyes, after insulting the US for years, they will come crying help us. To hell with them. Muslims are destroying anything danish. Lets send them to Hans Island. Stop all immigration from muslim countries, deport all those in Canada and the US, stop doing business with any business owned by a muslim. Close their schools.
Seize their assets if any money or goods has been sent back home. Tell them, WE WONT TAKE IT ANYMORE. You want to live in Canada, be a Canadian. There will soon be a census in Canada, so we will be able to identify all of these terrorists. If these crazies riot outside of their own country I hope the police and army take appropriate action, with machine guns, and slaughter the bunch of them. Until they are killed in action this will continue. Maybe they will think (if they are capable of such a thing) twice before rioting again. Those not killed should be arrested on put on a Sea King for a trip over the Atlantic and dumped. And, where are all those virgins coming from. Too bad someone who communicates with the other side cant make contact so these idiots would learn their friends are burning in Hell. John Ashcroft said it best. Christianity-God sent his only Son to die for us, Islam-send your son to die for them. And to think mothers encourage their sons to do this. When Osama straps a bomb on, or the clerics strap on bombs, maybe I will change my mind. Thank God we have Harper and not Martin or Graham to deal with this. Martin would give them all refugee status in Canada and say, what good little boys you are. This should end multiculturism once and for all.

  44. I can tell you how we will be looking at them – with alot of skepticism.
Amen to that. What disturbs me is that none of the alleged “moderate” Muslims here(US), there and anywhere have taken to the streets in mass protest against Islamic homicidal abominations. Maybe they aren’t free to do that in the ME, but they sure as hell are protected in Europe and NA.
Their silence is deafening. I would have left Christianity if it was as barbarian. I would have demanded reform.
I’ve got to admit I want Muslims out of the US entirely. I never thought I would ever make such a statement in my lifetime about anyone. What more evidence does the insane leftists of the “all cultures are equal” crowd need to see that Islam is a fascist cult bend on our disruction? It will never assimilate into the values of a secular democracy.
Thank God for the internet(and Kate) that Yanks and Canadians have a forum of common values.
