This so-called “typo” reminds me of a West Wing episode in which the speechwriters are writing a speech for the new Vice-President, whom they despise. They break from their task to write what they really think, talking about the guy’s mediocrity and unsuitability for the task. Then, “oops”, they forget to delete their faux speech from the real one, and it ends up on the teleprompter, so that the show’s President has to adlib.
I suspect something akin to that happened here. The writer knew they had to say one thing, but in their fatigue, they blasted out what they really thought. And then forgot to delete it.
Bias? Of course. But we’re all biased. It’s when it happens repeatedly, so that one party is the principal victim of the “mistakes”, that it forms a pattern that can be identified and brought to the light of day.
I said all that to say this: In a campaign where Sheila Copps and Warren Kinsella are called upon to give the Liberal Party perspective, Stephen Taylor is written up glowingly, and the Conservative Leader’s message of the day is reported accurately, this has been the least biased campaign I’ve seen in half a century.
And I think blogging is the reason. Well done, Kate.

So this story stands and the libs have nobody around to aid and abet their spin.
Besides, Mr Martin remarked that Canadians don’t want to see politicians on Christmas.
Then I would hope Martin takes this one last opportunity by skipping those end of year interviews with the press and Christmas messages broadcast every year. That would be like campaigning wouldn’t it.

B�nai Brith Canada Election Task Force Guide addresses widespread issues of Jewish community concern
Toronto, December 20, 2005… With the federal election campaign in full swing, B�nai Brith Canada has announced the release of its Election Task Force Guide, now accessible from the organization�s website.
�This document outlines priority issues of concern to the Jewish community and offers recommendations for action,� said Frank Dimant, B�nai Brith Canada�s Executive Vice President. �It covers a full range of issues relating to domestic and foreign policy and includes sections on hate-related activity and the need for increased security at Jewish institutions, Canada�s anti-terrorism legislation, affordable housing, Aboriginal affairs, and Canada�s response to the Arab-Israeli conflict.
�We reiterate at this time the call made during prior election periods to all politicians to maintain a respectful dialogue and to keep a focus on the issues. Already there have been reports of candidates� signs being defaced, in at least one case with Nazi symbols. We therefore also call on the Canadian public at large to behave responsibly, while holding our politicians to account and participating fully in the political process.
�B�nai Brith is Canada�s only independent, non-partisan national Jewish human rights organization, active in this country since 1875. Its members are affiliated with a full range of political parties and are active in the political life of the communities in which they live. The organization will be convening Town Hall pre-election debates across the country to bring issues of Jewish community concern to the fore.�

The latest screwup by team Martin.
They “leak” their attack ads in the hope of getting some free ad time. Problem was that they used a photo of Harper and Duceppe at a Holocast memorial service to suggest they are concocting the destruction of the country.
Presently the Jewish community is demanding an apology from the liberal party of canada.

Negative campaign adds get a raw deal, if they are true and relevant, than they are fair game. The Liberal negative campaigning is neither true nor relevant and thus is smear campaigning, big difference. For the CPC to bring up Gomery or any of the numerous other Liberal scandels, in a truthful fashion, is entirely appropriate. Unfortunately, the MSM has long since disregarded truth in it’s efforts to get the Liberals re-elected.
Attack ad’s are part of political history, But when a political party that is the governing party uses such an ad, it is more than tasteless it is outright SLEAZE. This government better start remembering they have that freedom thanks to the hundred’s of thousands Canadians that served in WWI,WWII,korea & many peace keeping mission’s with MANY THOUSAND’S GIVING THE EXTREME SACRIFICE. We fought against factions that promoted tyranny & we will continue too. This outright disgrace just proves the arrogance of this government & maybe just maybe this is what it is going to take to open voters eyes. Stephen Harper has shown that he is a leader by stating that he will not sink to that level of conduct. CTV comparing the ads should also note that the ads the CP’s are displaying are “FACT’S NOT FICTION”. I also take this as a personal attack for I have family buried in military cemetaries in Europe, I had a family member that was a prisoner of war In ww2, his age 16. So mr martin take your ads & shove them where the sun don’t shine.

TEE-VEE is a LOWBROW MEDIUM. It’s based on the LOWEST COMMON DENOMINATOR of intellect. No-one in their right mind would use it as a source of information. Except for MARTHA’S shows…. Like, who ever quoted a TEE-VEE SHOW on a university paper? I’m sure I saw on one of the newscasts, either CTV or CBC, sorry can’t remember which one, that the Liberal Party is REFUSING to apologize to the Jewish community. When I heard that I felt a shift…all down hill for the Liberals from here. They should be ashamed of themselves.
