As someone who listens pretty regularly to Breakenridge, I have to concur with Kate. He may be the best informed and most staunchly conservative radio host in Canada. A bit dry perhaps… Also as Kate, Damian, warren Kinsella and others can attest he is easily the most in touch with the political blogosphere.
Speaking of Kinsella; Breakenridge interviewed him yesterday and he said that he liked Stephen Harper and that he thought he had become a pretty-good campaigner. Someone at the CP HQ should get the quote and keep it on file for use as a rebuttal of the “scary” smear. Remember, Kinsella was the one who got Chretien to refer to Stock Day and the Alliance as “the dark side” just a few years ago.

Kate, you gotta keep this up, this radio thing… especially with the shocking revealations like the Earnscliffe thing being ignored by Gomery and the MSM. And you’ve gotta look into the facts surrounding Gomery’s appointment of Raymond Garneau to head the advisory body of Phase 2 of the report. I covered it on my site. Very obviously a conflict of interest that nobody’s looking at except myself and Maz2. Garneau has a financial interest in the loan syndicate that made it possible for Paul Martin to acquire CSL. And that’s only the beginning.
This is a deepener for the scandal. It makes Judge Gomery look dirty. Why aren’t more folks talking about this on the blognet?

I knew a man who sponsored his 60+ year old ‘refugee’ sister from Bulgaria. He promised he would be ‘responsible’ for her too. He never was, which meant that Canadian taxpayers paid for her apartment, food, medical expenses, and her hospital stay because apparently she had no money. She certainly didn’t dress like she had no money. For about 10 years Canadians paid for all her living expenses until someone in our government decided it was time to send her packing back home. Really wasn’t a problem for her since she made a point of befriending an old man who died and was nice enough to leave her $100,000. She’s now living like a queen in Bulgaria. I’m sure she has some very fond memories of Canada.
Is Raymond Garneau any relation to Marc Garneau, and are we looking at a new, incestuous Liberal dynasty in the making? NP is reporting that Peter MacKay now dating heiress Sophia Desmarais. That makes me very unhappy. I’d rather Tories dissociate themselves from any and all connections in that regard.

I assume you are using the word ‘refugee’ freely because they need no sponsor and DO get a free ride once in Canada.
From the stories I know this guy’s sister was probably a cardiologist in Bulgaria and Canada wouldn’t certify her so she got peed off and lived off them.
I mean, how would you feel? You see Martin standing up on the news saying “We need more skilled workers (desspite offshoring) so we are increasing immigrant numbers and funding every year” so you put in an application which entitles you to come to Canada SPECIFICALLY because of your education and experience as a skilled worker. Then when you get here you wind up being told your education was enough to get you in the country as a skilled worker, but not enough to get you employed. That’s right, we don’t recognize USA educational institutions or experience. Back to school you bum. Can you see the lie told by the federal gov’t to increase immigration funding??

KIEV, Nov 26 (Reuters) – Ukraine’s President Viktor Yushchenko said on Saturday it was time to apportion blame for the man-made famine that killed millions of his compatriots under Soviet rule in the 1930s.
Yushchenko was addressing a candlelight ceremony marking the 1932-33 famine induced by Soviet dictator Josef Stalin’s orders to requisition grain and break the spirit of Ukraine’s “kurkuly” farmers who resisted his drive to collectivise agriculture.
The day had been chosen as the official commemoration day for the famine that was never recognised by the Soviet Union.
The president told 5,000 people in a Kiev square that up to 10 million died in the famine and pressed his case for the United Nations to declare it a genocide. Historians’ estimates put the figure at about 7.5 million.
“The famine was a crime against humanity which had perpetrators, but from the legal standpoint, no guilty parties have been found,” Yushchenko said before kneeling by a monument to the victims erected in the 1990s.
“A murderer may be found responsible for killing one person, but for the destruction of millions, no one is held responsible. Perhaps this is why we in Ukraine have such difficulty today restoring the rule of law, good and social justice.” >>>

Organized crime mobs are targeting Parliament and other Canadian institutions in an attempt to spread corruption and political instability, says the new head of the RCMP.
During a remarkably candid news conference, Commissioner Giuliano Zaccardelli said yesterday that criminal groups are focusing on Parliament, the courts and other institutions with the aim of “destabilizing” the political system.
“For the first time in this country, we are seeing signs of criminal organizations that are so sophisticated that they actually are focusing on destabilizing certain aspects of our society,” said Commissioner Zaccardelli. The commissioner is a 30-year veteran of the RCMP who was previously the force’s deputy commissioner in charge of the fight against organized crime.
“That’s a real threat to us. There are criminal organizations that target this destabilization of our parliamentary system.”
Commissioner Zaccardelli’s comments shocked MPs, who said the commissioner should inform the House of Commons, through Speaker Gilbert Parent, if the RCMP has evidence of political corruption or attempts to corrupt politicians.
Asked if he could cite cases where criminals have targeted politicians or whether he was “fearmongering,” Commissioner Zaccardelli replied: “It’s not fearmongering in the least. I can’t give you, obviously, specific details, but we clearly have information that indicates that a sophisticated criminal organization, as part of their strategy, is not only to maximize their profits through illegal activity, but in doing that, in maximizing their profits, where they can attempt to try and corrupt and to try to destabilize (the) situation, that’s where they flourish.”
Asked what he meant about the threat to Parliament, the commissioner responded:
“The question of corruption. Corruption is always a potential problem around the world, corruption in a lot of places, unfortunately, exists. So the potential to corrupt by these criminal organizations is there. We have to be vigilant against that.” ..
Asked yet again whether the RCMP has evidence of cabinet ministers or MPs being targeted by organized crime, Commissioner Zaccardelli said: “I’m saying there are criminal organizations that we are aware of that … part of their strategy is to target and to infiltrate Canadian institutions. If they have opportunities, they will not hesitate to try and attempt that type of behaviour.”..’

OTTAWA, Nov. 23 – Monday was supposed to be the day Canada took the reins of international environmental leadership, playing host to a United Nations climate change conference in Montreal to begin a critical round of negotiations to decide how the world will confront global warming in the coming decades.
But now Monday is also the day that Prime Minister Paul Martin’s Liberal Party government is expected to fall in a no-confidence vote in the House of Commons. Many of the Canadian cabinet ministers and other members of Parliament who were supposed to attend the conference will now be scurrying to the campaign trail instead.
“It’s the nightmare scenario that environmental activists around the world have been hoping would be avoided,” said Elizabeth May, executive director of the Sierra Club of Canada.

So why are homeowners and landlords claiming to represent tenants and why are they running a “tenants association”?
These people all work for Parkdale Community Legal Services a nonprofit ironically funded by the government and they are out for publicity to raise the profile of their organizations.
Also two of the people are on contract to the clinic and they run out at about the time this campaign is to really begin in February so this will force an extension of their contracts or for them to be hired as full employees.
And it is also for revenge against their political enemies.
