All In Da Family…

Globe & Mail;

Liberal campaign manager David Herle was given an untendered federal government contract for $23,112 to provide advice on communications and polling about this week’s mini- budget.
And another firm, Decima Research, was paid more than $320,000 to conduct polls and focus groups about the mini-budget and to test reactions to Finance Minister Ralph Goodale’s speech on Monday.

Speaking of Decima!

…by a two-to-one margin, Canadians would prefer to have a spring federal election rather than a vote in January or February, a new Decima poll suggests.

Back to Mr. Herle…

Mr. Herle is the Liberal Party’s campaign co-chair and Prime Minister Paul Martin’s closest adviser. He also has had a long relationship with Mr. Goodale, serving as his adviser when Mr. Goodale was leader of the Saskatchewan Liberal Party in the 1980s.

The Culture of Entitlement lumbers on….
Speaking of which… ouch!

  1. Face it. Canada is Cuba North. It’s beyond reform only until the dictator(s) die and someone, SOMEONE has the audacity to LEAD for a change. And you know, then there will be no argument because it will all be clear. But it certainly isn’t now.

  2. “Holiday election may offend religious groups: PM”
Did you see this headline? The Liberals are once again trying to play the ethnic card against the Tories. Volpe was probably behind this gem of a strategy.
Anyway, a holiday election did not bother the Liberals when they pulled Joe Clark down. But then, hypocrisy never bothers them either.

  3. Here’s Jim Prentice during Question Period yesterday speaking on the Keeseekoose controversy:
Mr. Jim Prentice (Calgary Centre-North, CPC): Mr. Speaker, the chief at the time of the theft was the Liberal candidate, but in fairness, I am not surprised that the minister is confused. It is difficult for all Canadians to actually keep a clear picture of which Liberals are under RCMP investigation and which are not, which have been convicted and which have not, and which have been banned from the party for life and which have not.
Would the government consider establishing a sort of Liberal offender registry, a criminal registry that the public could consult from time to time and which the minister could use?

  4. “Two hundred and thirty-eight new rules, plus legions of comptrollers and auditors, will not prevent malfeasance if a prime minister decides that a higher cause justifies playing fast and loose with the rules.”
Thank you Harry, that’s what I’ve been saying all along.
What Harry doesn’t acknowledge, is that even if no rules were ever broken, and not a single taxpayer dime ever found its way into the pockets of Liberal politicians through corruption, at least 90% of what the federal government does is at its heart corrupt, wasteful, and downright harmful to the citizens. EI: we take money from people who work, and pay other people to not work and not look for jobs. Education: we pay more people to get BAs, MScs, etc., in more wacky fields, than the real economy could ever possibly employ in any kind of well-compensated, meaningful work. Corporate welfare: we bureaucrats have never worked in industry, we know nothing about business and capitalism other than a course or two we took when we were getting our degree in French or in government administration, however we are quite confident that we know which businesses should be punished with corporate tax and which businesses should be rewarded with grants, subsidies and protection. Oddly enough, it happens that bureaucrats think that successful businesses must be punished, and unsuccessful ones must be subsidized.
Swain, 63, warned that chronic Liberal over-spending to bribe voters will only end when an expected U.S.-inspired economic recession, and possibly a Quebec referendum, sharply reduce federal tax revenues.
Public Works Minister Scott Brison, whose initiatives were a prime target of Swain’s comments, said Wednesday he hadn’t read the speech and was therefore unable to comment.
To call Scott Brison a jackass would be to unfairly denigrate the intelligence and commonsense of the average donkey.

  5. Well isn’t that a surprise.
The liberals, after offending just about each and every religious group in the country over the issue of SSM, is now concerned about folks being offended by a “christmas election”.
Then I guess Bucky will make sure the election runs in excess of the minimum 36 day period when writ is dropped now won’t he?

  6. Gimbol,
Good point about SSM and religious groups.
But I think the Liberals will want a short campaign. They have serious financial problems according to the recent data from Elections Canada. An early election for them means even less money to campaign on.

  7. Harry Swain’s comments deserve more attention:

Martin took “an axe” to the equalization program simply to send more money to Atlantic Canada for political purposes. And he sent $41 billion to the provinces “to solve the insoluble and wholly provincial problem of [health care] waiting times.”
The Martin government’s “real major policy shift,” therefore, has been losing control of spending. “Bucks and bodies are flowing like water here on the banks of the Rideau” River,” he said.
    – He scorched the already-announced creation of Service Canada, the new “one-stop” federal agency created earlier this year to deliver hundreds of federal programs and services from numerous separate departments. This “son-of-Public Works … would be as efficient as Piggly-Wiggly but for the fact that they are unpractised in these new realms and hence take twice as long and cost three times as much.”

Corporate profits [How is CSL/Power Corp. doing?] rise as Canadian workers’ real wages fall
‘Even union workers are getting increases in wages that are only
    slightly ahead of inflation.’
Ottawa – Canadian corporations are continuing to rack up record operating profits while workers’ wages fall further behind the cost of living, new Statistics Canada data shows.
Profits in the first quarter of 2005 surged 3.4% to $51.5 billion following a similar jump in the last quarter of 2004. Profits have risen in all but two of the last 13 quarters, the agency reports.
In a separate announcement, StatsCan noted that the average weekly earnings of employees in March ($716.73) were only 1.9% higher than a year earlier. The incrrease is well below the 2.3% rise in the cost of living over the same period of time.>>> more

  9. I find the Decima poll once again delivers the Liberal message, after all Peter Donolo is V.P. and Decima under Gregg is the Liberals favourite pollster, by $’s. It is interesting tho, that yesterday Nov.16 an Isos poll shows 78% want an election now! Take your choice – I know mine!

  10. *Face it. Canada is Cuba North. It’s beyond reform only until the dictator(s) die and someone, SOMEONE has the audacity to LEAD for a change.*
Doug, Please, Canada is not Cuba North. It is free enterprise galore with shades of Cuba here and there.
You suggest someone should lead for a change.
You are in the driver’s seat. It’s up to us.
You know the Fear Harper stuff is propaganda.

Don’t wait for SOMEONE to do it. There ain’t no *someome*. Climb on board and de-bunk the CBC propaganda.
It’s been quietly working for some time and many Canadians are totally fooled.
This unfounded fear, so cleverly promoted by the stealthy Libranos, is the one thing standing in the way of a CPC victory.

  11. Volpe lied! Volpe lied!
Toronto Star, “Volpe’s stories don’t fit the facts”, Nov. 17, by JAMES TRAVERS
    http://www.thestar.com/NASApp/cs/ContentServer?pagename=thestar/Layout/Article_Type1&c=Article&cid=1132181413791&call_pageid=970599109774&col=Columnist969907626423&DPL=IvsNDS%2f7ChAX&tacodalogin=yes
    Excerpts:
‘With a winter election looming and Liberals desperate to hold the ethnic vote, Immigration Minister Joe Volpe is telling fanciful stories about the success of immigrants that just don’t fit the facts. Volpe, who also happens to be Paul Martin’s Ontario political boss, is promoting the notions that new arrivals are doing rather well and that Canada is ready to throw its doors open to a swelling new crowd.
Nothing could be further from the truth. Documents circulating through select government departments and obtained by the Star reveal disturbing results suggesting a ruling party concerned more with national interests than electoral advantage would put immigration increases on hold…
No matter what Volpe claims, the bottom line is that in major urban centres, the ones that attract most new arrivals, low-income rates rose between 1990 and 2000 for one big reason increases in immigrant poverty. Across the country, more than 35 per cent of those who had lived here five years or less by 2000 were earning low incomes…
If it weren’t for politics, Volpe’s peculiar policies and pronouncements would be baffling. In April, he announced Ottawa would triple the acceptance of parents and grandparents, one of the most politically attractive but worst performing groups, and then in a series of media leaks promoted what was expected to be a well-received 40 per cent jump in overall immigration…’

  12. What do Paul Martin and Richard Nixon have in common? Come over to the homestead and find out.
You’ll also find comparisons between PM and the likes of Chou En-Lai and Leonid Brezhnev.

  13. I phoned Goddale’s office and asked if they had recieved any benefit from the the stolen Adscam money. They pretend they don’t know that the Federal Liberal party pays for generic Liberal election advertising on CBC that benefits individual candidates.
Once I explained that and asked if Ralph was going to pay that money back since he had benefited from it, they hung up and wouldn’t answer again. I’m going to keep calling from pay phones every chance I get. Somewhere in the Liberal party there must be people with a shred of decency that will eventually get tired of being associated with these crooks.
    Let’s wear them down.
Keep reminding them that they themselves benefited from the theft.
Maybe they will sing or maybe they will just slink off in shame.
Same thing when the election starts, grind away at all the liberal door knockers.
    every little bit helps.
The only lib MP in Sask is Goodale, let’s ring that phone.

Malik belongs to Babbar Khalsa, a terrorist outfit responsible for many terrorist incidents in Punjab. He was also a close associate of Talwinder Singh Parmar, who headed one of the Babbar Khalsa factions before being killed by the Punjab Police in 1992. Malik, who came to Canada in 1972 started off as a cab driver to later became a wealthy businessman. According to Canadian sources, he is believed to have assisted in funding the bombing of the Kanishka.
Malik is currently the President of a 16,000-member Vancouver based Khalsa Credit Union (KCU) that reportedly has assets worth $110 million. Canadian authorities have indicated that Malik manages two Khalsa educational institutions that receives financial assistance from the government of British Columbia. These educational institutions and the KCU have on many occasions been controversial due to the monetary assistance they have reportedly provided to the widow of Talvinder Singh Parmar. News sources in Canada have reported that Malik has contributed financially to the Federal Liberal Party and has also attended fundraising functions for the Canadian Premier Jean Chretien. It is alleged that Malik has contacts with Ujjal Dosanjh, the Indo-Canadian Premier of British Columbia who was also the Attorney-General in British Columbia during the RCMP investigations. Sources in Canada have said that the RCMP conducted extensive raids in 1999 on KCU to scrutinize the activities of the International Sikh Youth Federation who held their meetings at the KCU-affiliated Khalsa school. Malik alongwith Ajaib Singh Bagri belong to the fundamentalist wing of the Sikh community in Canada and are reported to have waged a often violent clash with the more moderate functions for the control of lucrative gurudwaras. >>> more

  16. How can these folks who report this continue to support the Liberals and call themselves journalists? It’s truly mind-boggling. Really, isn’t it time to boycott Liberal-friendly MSM? For those who are true junkies, 5 minutes of CTV newsnet ought to give you your fix and convince you there’s nothing REAL happening out there, just the same old Liberal b.s.

That’s the magical number & shows you how the government operates. As long as you keep those contracts below $25,000 you can keep issuing new contracts to the same person/company time and time again without having to tender and pretty soon that $24,999 has turned into $49,998 or $74,997, or $99,996 or…

  18. This morning I saw the latest poll and was shocked that it said in BC (the left coast)there were 43% of respondants said they would never vote for Harper.
Shocking! Then thinking actually kicked in. If 43% won’t vote CPC then that means 57% would maybe vote CPC. Maybe 20% NDP, 20% Libs., 3% Green, 57% CPC. Sounds better than the polsters breakdown of 43% not CPC.

Absolutely rediculous how Canadians abdicate their sovereignty so easily. A couple years ago it was to the likes of Cameroon, Chile, and France. Today, it’s to pollsters and the CARTEL. Damn sad excuse for a country, really.
