Rip Van Duffy

Angry is asking questions of a “shocked” Mike Duffy;

But Duffy admits a Liberal bias at some media outlets makes it difficult for Harper and the Conservatives to get their message out.
“I’ve just been speaking to a couple of young journalists and I was shocked,” he said.
“One young journalist in New Brunswick said to me, ‘when I see Stephen Harper I see the enemy.’ It’s not journalists’ place to have enemies.”

Was it a nice nap, Mike?

  1. Journalism professors who grew up with Trudeau are likely breeding Librano journalists of the future: sort of like the media version of al-Qaeda training camps.

  2. Kate please delete my first E-mail, I was a litte upset when I asked for Mike Duffy’s E-mail address — thanks. M.

  3. Ah yes, the same Mike Duffy I saw predict, with a matter of fact shrug at about 6:30 election night, that John Kerry would win the presidential election. Kerry “had it all wrapped up” or something.
He at least had the decency to appear again the following night, looking shell shocked, and sort of apologized.

  4. Like Rachel Marsden or hate her, but she gave him the best shot and had him blubbering and stammering like all the women talking heads do at the CBC. Priceless stuff watching the Liberal Senator wannabe Duffy unable to answer a conservative statement in his own playpen.

  5. I don’t know what happened to Mike Duffy. I used to think he was fair and balanced. Then suddenly, he has a big show on CTV News1 or whatever it’s called; I forget: Countdown, which was supposed to cover the election we should’ve had but didn’t since the Supreme Overlord, Mad Man Martin, rebuffed the democratic will of the elected representatives of the people and ignored a nonconfidence vote (“Dan” and Peter, don’t bother; your views are in the Librano loyalist minority). That after giving an “up-yours” gesture to a Commons majority vote to hold the truly needed Air India Inquiry.
Was the old Duff finally bought out, Boolinda-style? What was he promised? The Order of Canada award long blocked by Cretin? A night with three showgirls? Money? A Senate appt.?
Or did the CTV simply order him to toe the VLWC line or take a walk?
At least the Duff still has his moments of honesty, seeing as he confirmed MSM bias not only as real but as being really extreme and bigoted. I’m not at all surprised- I can see these things ’cause I’m looking, remembering and seeing long-term patterns that make denial virtually impossible.

  6. The mainstream canadian press stands indicted by conservatives because the entire medium is infected with liberal bias (since this type of information usually engenders some really some real thick comments by lefties, let me spell it out – information that is detrimental to liberal politicians and the liberal party is suppressed, while liberal spin is uncritically synthesized into everyday “straight” news). Consider the risible “Harper is angry meme” as one of literally a million proofs.
Of course, liberal or conservative opinion is fine in places where the reader knows what is offered is partisan, namely the opinion, editorial, commentary and letters section. But that’s not what the thumb-suckers that constitute the canadian press corps produces is it?
I defy you to hold, with a straight face, that you could distinguish between the Toronto Star or Globe and Wail’s opinion sections and its straight news or the CBC and CTV similar “product” (CRTC liberal appointee approved no doubt)… and coincidentally kanada continues it decline into an irrelevent thoroughly corrupt 3rd world backwater.
A related issue is the lack of conservative representation in major canadian media even within the opinion section – what- you actually think the national post or global are pro-conservative? Ha!
Spend a little time outside the liberal lefty echo chamber that constitutes the mainstream canadian media – you’ll be surprised at home much you learn (sounds like Duffy slipped outside the echo chamber himself, but, don’t worrylefties, I’m sure he’ll quickly recover…). Your pablum will be restored, just turn on the tee vee.

  7. Garth Turner (former journalist, a Conservative candidate for Halton, Ontario) has a good blog/website – http://www.garth.ca. He was touring with Stephen Harper in the area yesterday. His Report of the tour touches on the media slant. Hopefully he and Peter Kent (candidate in St. Paul’s Toronto) will help the Party combat this ridiculour Canadian media power.

  8. Puff Duffy is hoping to be the next Pamela Wallin – up to his ears in pork somewhere selling the world on Canada’s success as a one-party state.

  9. Interesting tidbit for y’all: I’m related to a woman the Duff once tried to pick up when she was his hostess in a Halifax restaurant. Offered her a job in Ottawa. She declined. No biggie, as far as I’m concerned. Duff loves the ladies, apparently. That we have in common!
