Here are some of the links that commenters have dropped in the past 24 hours. An extra large tip-o-the-hat to Maz2 who has contributed many of these. (Update: and another generous hat tip to HappyDaze.)

  1. According to the Ottawa Sun, Paul Martin’s message about Harper being a threat to national unity is directed to Ontarians. Since Ontario makes or breaks an election, so to speak, if you are going to badmouth someone, Ontario is the place to do it. Will Ontarians believe Martin? Ontarians watch TV and they must have watched Stephen Harper as he repeatedly said ON TV,that he wants to be Prime Minister of CANADA, not a fragmented Canada, but CANADA.
Seems to me, that’s not the remark of someone who is trying to break up the country!
    Who will Ontario believe?

  2. Fester, a self-described “Lefty Political Blog” claims that the Coalition is actually losing the war using the following calculation. (Unfortunately Fester’s estimate of the number of enemy losses, which he argues are equal to the American is based on a dead link.)
However, US forces, due to superior armor and medical care, sustain roughly five incapacitating woundings for every fatality (on average) and four or five more minor woundings. The approximately 70 US combat deaths means that 330 other troops are also incapacitated (evacuated or removed from their units for at least 72 hours due to combat wounds). This increased resilency masks some of the effectiveness of the insurgent operations. Therefore it is reasonable to assume that the insurgents lost roughly 500 men to any future combat operations in the month of May while inflicing roughly 450-500 permanent direct losses on the Iraqi government forces and another 400 US soldiers are out of action due to death or serious combat injuries. Therefore the incapacitation ratio is roughly 1.8:1 in favor of the insurgents. Against US forces only, the ratio is near unity. …
Why do I argue that a smaller force (even if compared only against the international troops) that is taking near unity fatalities is winning? Simply because it has always been far cheaper, easier and quicker for an insurgent force to regenerate than for a counterinsurgent force to regenerate. Additionally, it is highly probable that the vast majority of insurgent fatalities and incapacitations are coming from direct combat with American combat units. In this arena, the insurgents are trading roughly 5 total insurgents killed or incapacitated for every 4 US soldiers killed/incapacitated.
If Fester were right, then Iraqi insurgent kill ratios against US troops would be an historical high rate.

The link Fester’s estimate is based on is a dead link.
Fester is a self-professed lefty moonbat.

  3. Excellent assessment of media propaganda on Terry’s right point blog today…however he just scratches the surface by using isolated incident…you have to step back a few paces and watch the entire Canadian MSM as a networking, single minded propaganda industry…dependent on Liberal largess and patronage…and how they always sit in uniform alignment when they get on a propagated premise….this week a number of concocted push polls have been melded with the flood of partisan GTA political natterers who are spreading the overall message ( through infinite innuendo and outright disingenuous speculation) that Harper is finished and the CPC has no chance….read the DIRECTION of the overall media’s tack this week and tell me I’m wrong.
Harper is “glum”..”moody” ( a snide implication of his alleged feeling of doom for his dire electoral fortunes)the insinuation is subtle but has great impact on the readers subconcious imagery, it is a wide spread, uniform fallicious allegation and repititious…in accordance with the core methodology of Machiavellian propaganda techniques…tell a devistating white lie about your enemy…tell it often and widely and it becomes reality.
The lie being propagated in networked lock step by our whored media now, is that Harper and the CPC CAN’T possibly win against Martin…of course this is BS in any reasoned objective sense…but partisan media propagandists count on the gulibility of the Canadian political prpaganda consumer and his herd mentality…..If you tell him the guy he wanted to vote for can’t possibly win, he will switch camps to avoid picking a loser and being seen to be “stupid” by not voting with the herd.
The central Canadian MSM operate with 100% reliance on PT Barnum’s maxim that there is a sucker born evey minite…or in this case every edition.

  5. Hey guys,
Make sure you link to liberalunderground early and often and give them lots of free publicity, just like you did for Buckets of Grewal. After all, the Liberals need our help to spread their talking points to the masses.
If you’re lucky, maybe the press will run a front page story on them.
    Keep up the good work!

  6. Hey TT: I like to have ALL the information I can get when I’m making a decision. Maybe you should vote Liberal if you’re so comfortable with censoring information — that’s the game they play.

  7. I don’t know if anyone is still following this thread but there is an excellent new Blog called the War Room. Great articles on understanding the emergence of the “new Left” which is not Liberal at all and “the new right” which is what the CPC has emerged as and the clashes therein.
    Exceptional work.

  8. I was reading an article on a Blog, (forget)in which now Commissioner Zacadelli, then Deputy Commissioner was giving an interview mentioning how for the past 30 years (two? years ago) the Mafiosa has been making inroads into the Gov’t. I found that odd, as he was Deputy Commissioner for the whole time, noone asked the then Deputy why it was allowd to go on to the present day? Isn’t what is going on now not just an election, but to secure the inroads that the Mafiosa have made for now 32 years, that should be the news of all days, but so far it seems to have gone over everybodies heads, everybody. So now we not only have the Librano’s to fight in the election, and the MSM enablers, but it looks to me the Mafiosa could be formidable opponants, and we know how they helped Jack Kennedy win the Presidency. Whats the scoop folks a snoozer or the biggest story of the century. I’ll follow up with when the Aspers start hollering for the head of Stephen we just know we have it right, and along with the MSM enablers flogging for Stephen’s head and the phoney polls, (and are they phoney )are the only two weapons the Librano’s have to fight with. It seems to me the Aspers fill their pants when they even hear the name Stephen Harper. And I see the “SUPPORTERS” of some well known PC’s are vieing for Stephen’s job, SUPPORTER?….Liberals under the guise of “supporters”, makes good bull shit, Stephen is in for the whole trip, and for anyone to say otherwise is one of THEM!
All we have to do is get the vote from the vote that stayed home last time, so it is going to mean that the riding constituencies are going to have to work their asses off, with thousands of volunteers conscripted, failing that, we don’t deserve to win, the vote is out there for us if we go and get it.

  9. I can’t believe someone was ignorant enough to write this. This is exactly the kind of bad approach I’ve been ranting about on my blog. Comments like “Go join the Liberals” or “maybe you should vote Liberal”.
Way to go, Sean. You’re a winner.
