Again, as much as I like and generally agree with local radio talk host (and former MP in the Mulroney government) John Gormley, he scored a big, fat, miss this morning on the Grewal tapes, by loudly dismissing them as “shenanigans” and “how politics is done in today’s Canada”.
I cant help but be reminded of a few of the topics covered on John Gormley LIve in the past week or so; the trashing of Saskatchewan provincial parks by teenage partiers during the May long weekend, the lack of “responsible parenting” in the town of Rosetown and just yesterday, the growing problem of graffiti in Saskatoon.
Well, perhaps it’s time that John revisits those same topics from the perspective of the messages young people hear in the media about behavior and ethics in government – the very government that writes and enforces the laws they flaunt.
Until you, John, are willing to hold lawmakers in the highest offices in the land to the ethical standards that Canadians deserve, and our constitution and laws demand, you might reconsider your outrage and denunciation of parents when a bunch of drunken teenagers drag an RCMP officer into the water at a lake party.
The two are not unrelated.

In fact, a relative of mine involved in a custody dispute has recorded every phone call and every transcript of those phone calls are legal and allowed as evidence.
Green and Todd – the thousands of petty stick up liberals… er punks who were convicted with video tape evidence shot from behind convenience store counters will be very glad to hear that Don Martin will be altering the rules of admissable taped evidence.

Further on taping conversations – a friend of mine taped a conversation (which actually turned into more of an interrogation) with an RCMP over a boat (hers) which they (RCMP) didn’t believe was hers. She used the tape in court. She won the case and received a new boat and damages (4 years & 4 lawyers later).
It’s legal. believe it.
How else do you catch a liar unless you tape conversations or record them on film. So, according to what some of you are saying, security cameras in businesses are unethical, private investigators shouldn’t tape or film anything and private individuals have no right to use the same to protect themselves. In other words, you are condoning victimization at the hands of the corrupt! Canadians have lost all sense of judgment!
How is Grewal the boogey man? I think he was brilliant at catching the Liberals at their own game. The Liberals had the tables turned on them and by someone who simply outsmarted them by using their own tactics. Who cares if it is viewed as entrapment. This evidence is necessary to impeach the Liberals in a court of law. How the hell else do you catch a lying crook?
This is a classic case of Liberal bullies attempting to turn themselves into the victim and then currying public sympathy to evade culpability.
Grewal is not the bad guy no matter what his motive. The criminals are Tim Murphy, Scott Reid, and Paul Martin for entertaining Grewal for 4 hours instead of being ethical and immediately telling Grewal that he can cross the floor but, no deals. All this could have been done in under 10 minutes.
This endless circular thinking and attempts to rationalize moral equivalence leads to inaction and laws with no teeth. If taping conversations is the only way to hold this corrupt government accountable, then so be it. The best defense is a good offense and the Conservatives need to do more of this.

It is completely legal to tape a conversation, as long as ONE party is aware.
That means you can’t legally tape a conversation with neither side knowing (unless you have a warrant).
There is nothing wrong or unethical in recording a conversation, especially when you have reason to believe that someone is going to lie about the conversation even occurring, let alone what the conversation was about.
And with virtually all aspects of the liberals, you can safely assume they are going to lie about it.

First, CTV reports that the RCMP, via Cpl. Deschenes, are “looking into” the Grewal tape scandal;
Then, CTV receives a telephone call from the PM’s office moments before broadcast asking them to call the the Chief Superintendent of the RCMP who will contradict the Cpl. and the that the “real” story is – there is no criminal investigation at this point.
The RCMP said they would investigate – now sounds like the PM vetoed that descision. Look who’s pulling strings at the RCMP.

With friends like Mulroney and his ilk, this conservative party doesn’t need an enemies.
But I forgot, Mulroney lives on the mountain… Montreal Mountain where the streams run chocolate milk, and the grass tastes sweet and the flowers are like candy, heck the mountain is solid chocolate … as in Willy Wonka and the Chocolate factory.
No truth need enter such a magical place!
I’ve said this before – the last time someone accused Brian Mulroney of corruption, we ended up shelling out millions in tax dollars to settle.
That after years of RCMP investigation.
So, let’s drop the “Mulroney corruption” crap that Liberals try to use to excuse their own stinking mess. Whatever the sins and errors of Mulroney, nothing in his administration comes close to the debacle we are facing today.
Todd, you have no idea what “most Canadians” think. What you are saying is that you approve of Liberal corruption, and are willing to lie to see it continue. And that’s your privilege. We can expect nothing better from a homosexual, who by definition is both insane and evil.
If the tapes were altered, as the Liberals say today, and if they contain nothing incriminating, as the Liberals said yesterday, then what incriminating material was removed?
Mulroney’s administration was by far the least corrupt in the last forty years. Of course, it was still too corrupt for Preston Manning and Stephen Harper, both of whom left the Mulroney PC’s in disgust at the failure to control corruption. But it was a perceptible improvement over the Trudeau years. And today Trudeau is often cited as some kind of honest politician. Which he was, if all you need to be honest is to be cleaner than Chretien or Martin. Hell, by that test, they are the only two corrupt prime ministers in history. Precisely why Todd wants them in power, of course.
