Habamus Rodentum updates information on the hand that feeds the RCMP headquarters in Montreal and the federal tax centre in Shawinigan. Here’s a teaser – Liberal bagman Joe Morselli’s Buffet Trio, plus secret bank accounts and shredded invoices at the RCMP.
Here’s a bit of historical perspective (September 2000) to bring readers up to speed;
Organized crime mobs are targeting Parliament and other Canadian institutions in an attempt to spread corruption and political instability, says the new head of the RCMP.
During a remarkably candid news conference, Commissioner Giuliano Zaccardelli said yesterday that criminal groups are focusing on Parliament, the courts and other institutions with the aim of “destabilizing” the political system.
“For the first time in this country, we are seeing signs of criminal organizations that are so sophisticated that they actually are focusing on destabilizing certain aspects of our society,” said Commissioner Zaccardelli. The commissioner is a 30-year veteran of the RCMP who was previously the force’s deputy commissioner in charge of the fight against organized crime.
“That’s a real threat to us. There are criminal organizations that target this destabilization of our parliamentary system.”
[…]
Commissioner Zaccardelli’s startling comments were reminiscent of controversial statements made by former RCMP commissioner Norman Inkster in the 1980s.
Mr. Inkster told a Commons committee more than two dozen MPs were under criminal investigation. He refused to name the MPs, and only a handful were charged in subsequent years. It was later learned some of the investigations were routine inquiries following complaints.
A very long time ago, two people close to me confessed they were involved in lower rungs of organized crime. I had met each independantly and completely by chance while in college – and they were in different organizations. This was when I first learned that there were organized crime figures elected to parliament.

Let us not forget Operation Sidewinder. I managed to find image scans of some the its pages on the Internet. There are many broken links to copies of the report, but if one is diligent, you can hit paydirt.
Kate,
These were MP’s you knew, aides or people who were mebers of the criminal orgaizations who stated they knew they had friends in “high places”?
None of this surprises me….look at George Galloway in the UK and the numerouse congressmen/women who have been convicted.
These rumours goes all the way back to John Munroe “falling in the bathtub”
But doesn’t this set up a scenario where the Liberal Party becomes unaccountable for its corruption, where it instead moves into the zone of being only the victim of “organized crime”? The Liberal Party, a hapless, helpless victim, which was only trying to do good and yet, here it was, up against a Great Evil, organized crime…and therefore, once it realizes it has been a victim and ‘abused’, this party ought to be re-elected.
I don’t buy it. This is a tactic akin to Martin’s ‘a few rogues did this’.
If the Evil Ones of organized crime moved into the Liberal regime, it was because the Liberal regime found their operations extremely useful – for the Liberals. They remain accountable and active; they are not victims of abuse.
No – the people I knew were low level grunts in the machinery.
Go back to the year 2001, August 13; we find the following on the ‘net; written/posted by Edward A. Greenhalgh, Kitchener, Ont. (PDF & HTML)
Title: To Demonstrate a Conspiracy and Motive for Political Interference. Public Knowledge Exposes Political Corruption. The Alan Eagleson Syndrome.
Names named include: Don Boudria, MP, one-time Minister of Public Works for the Jeancula,
erstwhile “Leader of the Rat Pack”, not running again; but jumping ship.
B. Mulroney, RCMP, Sen. T. Eyton, U of Waterloo, drug companies (drug companies, hah), John Rae, Brascan, Power Corp., Bill Clinton (?), etc.
“The public will have to decide whether or not the PMO (aka The Prime Minister’s Office,) and other powerful figures have “bought off” the RCMP in order to cover up and subvert justice.”
Where is Mr. Greenhalgh now? Did he survive his “cancer”?
“Cancer” is also named. Read the question re blocking research!

A second possibility is emerging in respect to the role of Joe Morselli. It is beginning to look like there is a possibility that he could be more than just part of Alphonso Gagliano’s muscle.
It could be that Morselli was actually planted in his position by the superiors who are responsible for placing both him and Gagliano.
This would be similar to the scheme that the movie Casino was based on, the inside man/outside man concept. Tony “the Ant” Spilotro was sent as an enforcer and fixer — an outside man to support the inside man, casino manager Frank “Lefty” Rosenthal.
However, it wasn’t the case that Spilotro was “hired” by Rosenthal. In fact, both men basically were sent to Las Vegas by the leaders of the Chicago outfit. Both men co-equally owed their allegiance to the same crime family.
This is a fairly old way of doing business in the mob; you have one guy who is dirty but needs to keep a cleaner profile because he interacts with the Racketeers in an official capacity. You have another guy on the outside whose reputation is less important, who arranges for the leg breaking and any other violent or criminal actions that are needed to support the criminal enterprise and take the heat off the inside man.
At least to me, at this point either possibility is viable.
At least this is beginning to get some pick up. It was mentioned on Question Period today. “Why did Joe Moreselli’s car get fire bombed?”
Why Indeed? And this guy’s business provides food for the RCMP and Revenue Canada with his employees on the inside of the building…..nice background check.
Of course they all nod their heads approvingly and move on to the next topic like is just another piece of gossip….but at least it got mentioned.
Nealenews:
Liberals told to cancel the GST, to attract voters.
The 7% solution.
maz2: If Paul Martin said he was going to cancel the GST, I’d believe him. Yup, uh huh. He’s already tried that one. Besides, with all the spending he’s doing, he’s going to need every dime he can get.
Just so’s I’ve got the chronology right here.
Liberals begin to aquire organized crime ties, perform limited criminal activities to the benifit of the party
liberals see fit to reduce the budget for the RCMP.
RCMP has to reallocate funds within it’s own budget, organized crime watch is gelded.
Liberals “donate” 3m to musical ride from laundered adscam money.
Auditor general finds out about this, about the same time as this RCMP “loses” receipt book.
During this whold time the RCMP commisioner is pooh poohed as the little boy who cried wolf, by parliament, while turds of shame magically appear on the scarlet tunic of our RCMP.
Ok what have I missed?
And why have we not got these organized crime fucks up on charges of high treason among other things.
Daryl
You forgot to mention in chronology
RCMP used as muscle on recalcitrant Head of business Development Bank….Former Prime Minister and a couple of others
OK I’ve just been reading up on all the other subversive activities of organized crime in relation to port authorities, MP’s, police officers etc. It would seem to me, that despair is a rational initial reaction to all of this, and yet if law is to be followed then despair is not an option. Neither is my next reaction, to summarily hang or shoot all of the involved parties, by rule of law, after all some of the most buzy crime bosses seem to be in prison, so we can’t just lock them up. So where do we begin to take back first our police, and intelligence forces, then parliament. Or are those sort of the catch 22 situation where if you’ve got one the other will likely follow, for good or ill. I am bothered by the Naivete of the members of parliament interveiwed for these articles, Pat Martin actually saying about an active investigation that the cops should tip their hand, what a collosal fool. With idiots like this in parliament organized crime doesn’t even have to WORK to corrupt our democracy.
So who’s got ideas.
Daryl,
Do you advocate that we take back our country with registered OR un-registered firearms?
Sorry. Couldn’t resist!
It needs to be in tandem….within the police force and within government….the police force needs a sponsor and protector.
Here is the problem, the provinical police force of Alberta is the RCMP…too bad because the provincial police can investigate crimes that may have taken place within their jurisdiction.
I would say the OPP would be the next choice. But I trust them less now that Dalton is in charge.
Best palce to start is get a conservative government in place….then you get to start the clean out of the system…including the supreme court.
There are two vacancies, if I remeber correctly, opening up in June due to retirements and one more in 2006.
I think the libs are funding bin laden for protection…remember Chretien had daddy Khader released(pakistan?)…anythings possible now
You know, on a strictly personal note I’ve gotta say that I’m a little disappointed about some of the implications concerning the RCMP.
When I was a kid growing up in Midland, Texas, we basically fantisized about three renowned law enforcment agencies, the Texas Rangers, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, and Scotland Yard. Back in those days each of these agencies seemed larger than life in their own special way.
I’m sorry that I didn’t buy a book I saw in a store in a small Texas town about 8 months ago. It apparently was the memoirs of some old turn-of-the-(20th)century Texas Ranger who was writing about the first Mountie to ever visit the Texas Rangers. There were a number of old photographs with these guys horsing around with goofy smiles on their faces. The Mountie would be in full uniform and wearing a Texas cowboy hat. The Texas Ranger would be wearing the Mountie’s hat. Silly stuff like that.
I guess we’re a long way from those simpler days.
Growing up in Minnesota I always thought the same way – “always get their man”, they were “The Untouchables” of the north, that kind of thing. Almost like that guy on Due South (except I never thought they talked to dead relatives).
Oh well, times change.
Zacardelli was appointed by Jean Cretien. The rare times that I read about the RCMP arresting a member of the Mafia, is when the FBI requests it.
Both Inkster and Zaccardelli know who is responsible, but they don’t name names, ( they just ‘investigate’ for twenty years or so.
when Jean Cruton first graduated from ‘Law School’, the second-or third- case he defended in a court of law, was that of a Montreal ‘Businessman’ who was charged with the murder of a prostitute. Cruton’s defense was threefold:
1. He had never been with a hooker before.
2. He was drunk at the time, therefore of diminished responsibility
3. The hooker raised the price of her services during the act, and he temporarily lost his mind and offed her!
Question: Who was the defendent?
comment: Quebec- best politicians, lawyers, cops and judges that money can buy.
Kate, thanks for the referrals, *curtsies*
Why is it I feel an anton pillar coming on?…time to take two aspirins and I’ll post you in the morning
Darryl,
did you read this post?

You know, I have come to realize that this is the very reason that Trudeau never liked Creeton and did not want him as party leader (not that I am a Trudeau fan by any means). PT was very vocal about his disapproval of JC without being specific about any one reason.

I just got into blogging and I absolutely love it, so thanks, I keep track of this blog as well as 5 others so far.
