Well, this is a curious little find. (Thanks to an email tip from an “anonymous” reader). From an old anti-tobacco web page;
The Canadian Tobacco Co. Ltd.markets two brands of cigarettes available at duty free shops. According to their packaging, they operate out of either a postal box number in London or Toronto, Ontario. They have recently entered the market with two low-priced brands known asCanadian and Canadian Extra Light.
They feature several easily recognizable Canadian landmarks. In December 1997, Canadian cigarettes we purchased two cartons at the Windsor Tunnel Duty Free Shop, and at the Blue Water Bridge Duty Free Shop in Sarnia.
Each carton has a picture of either the CN Tower, Niagara Falls, Lake Louise, the Canadian Rockies or the Vancouver skyline. CN Tower spokespersons will not take the responsibility for the use of their logo by this tobacco company. It may be that some people are trying to hide this egregious campaign to advertise tobacco.
The parent corporation is actually theSea and Sky Supply company located in Holland. The owner of the company is Tony Lammers, a businessman who markets various and sundry products to duty free shops and airlines all over the world. We have been unable to reach Tony for personal comment, but we have left his company e-mail.

A crown corporation known as theCanada Lands Corporation owns the CN Tower and leases it to the TrizecHahn company. They are supposed to do all the promotions for the publicly owned business. A major principal in that company, and many others, like Barrick Gold, is Peter Munk. Peter just named a cardiac wing after himself at the Toronto Hospital, and is still recovering from the Busang gold fiasco to comment either.
Alphonso Gagliano, the Minister in charge of Public Works and Government Services is responsible for the CLC and what it owns, markets, and promotes. He is unavailable for comment. Canada tobacco only has a box number in London, Ontario and could not be reached by phone for comment. If any of you find him, let me know.
From what little else I can find, it seems that Canadian Tobacco did a bit of race sponsorship, but I’ve not confirmed that.

My understanding is that bribery works hand in hand with intimidation to create a buffer zone of plausible deniability.
If the bribes don’t work, intimidation can start off as very subtle threats. The threats can escalate to the point of genuine violence and danger. Ruthless people in the criminal world do not easily let go of their money source or power source, nor do they easily allow themselves to wind up in prison.
As for this mail drop in London, Ontario, that’s beautiful. Who picks up the mail? Some guy who delivers it to a certain trashcan under a freeway somewhere?
It looks to me like the Libranos have been a very busy and industrious group of nefarious characters… like that comes as any news…

I’m kind of hoping for an esculation of the nature you describe. It would have the greatest impact of all. Unfortunately a few people have to get hurt or killed, but it would show the true nature of what’s being delt with.
I have a theory that this all ties togethor with what’s happening in the UN and a few other countries, that there is some type of master plan to capture/steal the wealth of a lot of nations through acts like oil for food/kyoto/etc. etc. to create some sort of enforced socialism, but that’s a stretch. I think the reason a lot of this is coming out is the puppet master became impatient.

Should also mention that this may be why there was such resistance and hatred towards Bush. Democracy in the middle east and other countries…. Can’t have that!

Rob, I think that you are correct! Absolutly correct. We can clearly see why the Cret. did not support President Bush in Iraq – it was blamed on the Quebec election by cynics like myself. That is what Cret et al expected and it worked. (Divide and conquer). It was all about his own and the ‘puppet master’s’ plan for unlimited prosperity and power for themselves. The Liberal Party were not ready for President Bush’s re-election and the Republican victory in both U.S. houses hense the investigation in the oil for food racket)- they were not ready for Stephen Harper either!
I watch the House of Commons debates and I watch Question Period. The MSM never report on debates and they have tried to paint Stephen Harper as some sort of ‘nobody of consequence’ through commentaries based on Question Period. The people of this country should all send this intrepid man Thank-you letters, for without him we would be “working for the man”, that man would be Mr. Maurice Strong. Stockwell Day is the only person in this country who has questioned the Liberal ties to this hater of all people. We should be asking why? If the Liberals win another election it really is all over for us so why should we worry about the consequences if we question this relationship and the Liberals win again? It is a no brainer – we will be finished as a democracy so life here will not be worth living for people who value freedom.
