      1. Oh I dunno. Arlo Guthrie was a chip off the old block, and ole Woody was quite a socialist.
        It just may not have occurred to him that overturning restaurant tables and chasing out the customers is part of social justice. If it had, I am sure he would have approved.
        The Guthries just weren’t woke enough. Woody still had the illusion he was for the common folks, say like weavers. That was what he called his group. “If it weren’t for the weavers what would you have?” The current rioters obviously don’t have any such illusion.

          They were old school labor Marxists and at the forefront of what became the social justice movement, but they were anti-riot and bomb throwing. “Group Hug” and “Flower Power” socialists who actually believed in a Singing Revolution. Woody wrote “This Machine Kills Fascists” on his guitar. That was too extreme for Pete who wrote “This Machine Surrounds Hate and Forces it to Surrender” on his banjo head. Arlo’s “spiritual father” was Pete, not Woody. Arlo barely knew Woody and most of what he knew was not positive.

          Precisely, when I am dining with my family their safety is my primary concern, then other people at my table. I can’t keep an eye at them and make sure they are safe while already brawling and getting my shit kicked out by a mob swarming me. Brawling with those feral subhumans is the last resort to buy my family time to disengage and get safe.

      1. Fredo Land, New York State, permits concealed carry with a county approved permit. How hard the permit is to obtain depends on the particular county. The rule of thumb is the more rural the county, the more civilized the permitting. Plus better be a good shot. Fredo thinks you only need seven shots to kill a deer.

  14. Restaurant owners, managers and employees are among the people who desperately need to see their businesses come back after the shutdown and these thugs are doing everything they can to help make those businesses fail. Whoever came up with that strategy did not think it through.

  25. I just read the article in the local newspaper in Rochester, the Democrat & Chronicle – the best part, about Swan Dive (one of the two restaurants that was swarmed by the mob):

    “the restaurant had posted on Instagram about providing water and a place to regroup for protesters earlier in the day”.
