    1. Correct.

2,400 Canadian soldiers died (mostly by starvation) as a result of our defence of Hong Kong during WWII.

This government’s performance on this issue is a disgrace to our country, and to the memory of those who gave all. Where is the proposed resolution that the prime minister will bring forward in the new session of Parliament about to begin? Why not bring forward that Lech Walesa is ready to go to Hong Kong in support of the freedom fighters?

Where is this government on the PRC, exactly? Nowhere, at all, except for “admiration of their basic dictatorship, in which they can turn on a dime to fix their environmental problems…” — or words to that effect; how’s that workin’ for ya?

Where are the pipelines, exactly? Mr. Trudeau, Jr. dodged the bullet on the C.N. strike; if I were the Conservatives, I’d have offered to support a back-to-work bill, on the condition that it included a resolution on the construction of the pipelines; otherwise, no dice: abstain — the bill would have been a government bill, which the Liberals would surely have had to vote for with a perfect chance of getting passed; why not let that lot figure out how to deal with the rump leftist parties in the Commons?

Where are the Liberals on an FTA with the U.K., exactly? Nowhere, as usual, although CETA (who negotiated that one, again?) will likely prevail.

The idea that Trump went along with the U.S. Congressional resolution to avoid being embarrassed over a veto overturned is ridiculous: he and Pompeo probably cooked the whole thing up. When even Vietnam is pulling for the U.S., you gotta’ know that the PRC has a rather, er, serious problem.

There are millions of Canadians of Asian descent who are very worried about the situation in Hong Kong. I know a few.

  1. Just a quick question on the US system. The bill was passed with a number that already would override a veto. If the president doesn’t sign is it not just overwrite anyways?

    1. If the president refuses to sign it, it’s dead, unless the Congress, by a majority of two-thirds of the members present, in each House, votes (in essence, on the same bill) to override the president’s refusal to sign it.

A second vote would be needed.

    1. There is the possibility that China could walk away from the first phase of the greenest, then send in the troops to Salinize Hong Kong. For the past number of years Premier Xi has been bringing back traditional communism, and he is not the type to tolerate democratic voices.

Another scenario would have the phase I agreement signed, with Xi tolerating the pro-democracy agitation until the U.S. election The betting is that the Democratic Party will sweep all three chambers in November 2020 (SDAers can flame me for saying this). Then the Chinese can sign agreements withe the new Joe Biden-Kamala Harris administration, then invade Hong Kong. Joe Biden is too stupid and senile to know what is going on, much like Obama when the Russians took over Crimea.

  2. Isn’t this just another case of the world’s policemen yelling; “OY! You kids there!”?

Except the kids are a nuclear power…and make all your stuff.

    1. It is a huge loss of face across Asia, where such things matter a great deal. And another way of refusing to bow to the ChiComs.

      1. From https://theconservativetreehouse.com/2019/11/27/president-trump-signs-hong-kong-human-rights-and-democracy-act/

“…Keep in mind a dual purpose to this latest move: Hong Kong holds a special trade status with the U.S. and is exempt from tariffs placed on China. Part of the punitive action President Trump could take against China involves tariffs against Hong Kong.”

Now where is Soros Butt on China? “….You know, there’s a level of admiration I actually have for China…”
        How about that Chretien guy?

        Read it.

  3. Get back to me when war is declared and President Trump is finally suffered to remove the threat posed by the Han tribe to western civilization with liberal application of hydrogen bombs to the cities of the Middle Kingdom.

Your teenage brat won’t be able to have a new iTurd every two years. He’ll get over it. Having a future as something other than a source of spare parts for wealthy Chinamen who refuse to stop smoking and drinking will be worth it.

  4. Yea…well if we’re going to rain down some long life isotopes, lets ensure we dont forget Riyahd, Mecca, Tehran, Cairo, Damascus and any other large Islamic City. May as well do a thorough cleaning.

And a few on the San Andreas just to “hurry things up” …??

    1. My kinda guy. If you’re gonna wage war, don’t piss around. Cover all the bases and nuke ’em from orbit. It’s the only way to be sure.
