        My former Quebec neighbours who were from France got together every July 14th with their French friends and drank red wine, laughed and sang their hearts out after their “steak-frites-et salade” dinner. They loved it when I’d wander in to say hello and we’d all have to kiss each other on both cheeks. Oo làlaa! They were the kindest and sweetest – one wouldn’t have known it that they were all WW II survivors.

        1. We celebrate le Quatorze ourselves – and with a steak-frites dinner on the deck as well. We go with a rosé from Provence rather than a red (because it’s from our favourite part of France).

          For the record, we celebrate 24 June, 1 July and 4 July with a BBQ as well.

          The period from 24 June to 14 July is sort of a “party central” here because:

          a. it’s the summer at last;

          b. my birthday also falls within this time; and

          c. c’est enfin l’été!

          The French Revolution produced metric measurement, though the idea of going to a day based on a decimal system didn’t work out too well. Some of the greatest contributions to science were made by the French after that, such as Fourier (who I mentioned elsewhere), Galois, and Laplace, not to mention Champollion.

            The basis for it is the concept that any curve can be approximated by the sum of a series of sinusoidal functions. Anybody who’s been involved with solving certain types of differential equations in fields such as fluid mechanics, strength of materials, and heat transfer makes use of it. It’s also used in data filtering, allowing for easier interpretation and analysis.

            His accomplishments were extraordinary for a man who lived only 62 years, ie: from 1768 to 1830. It is obvious the Communists of today look to the Communists of the past for their inspiration.

            The exploitation of greenhouse gases or CO2, for the purpose of taxation, is one where the Governments of today have taken advantage of the general population.

    Due to the safety concerns and the potential for property damage to occur, the GYMC (Building Owner) cancelled the event booking for Bernier and Paralovos.

    I was going to attend that event and I even purchased some seats but then I have had an unexpected business trip to the US come up, so I could no longer attend.

          Get self loading equipment, stock up on essentials, and be ready to simply survive when SHTF.

        2. Without a PAL there is little point having a gun, you must keep it so much a secret you can’t use it openly for any purpose that is still allowed. If you want to have guns that the government doesn’t know about, I suppose you could do so while also having a PAL and guns that you will surrender if/when they come to confiscate them. But I will not counsel that because it would be breaking the law. If you break the law you are liable for the consequences so I will leave that to each, his/her own judgement and conscience.

          The more of us who are licensed and are open about using our guns in ways that are no threat to society, the longer it must take the government to get to the stage of disarming the law-abiding population just for the sake of it.

          Everyone who doesn’t get a license and possess and use guns lawfully is part of the problem. The Americans still have their right (as recognised, not granted, in their Constitution) to be armed because so many of them openly advocate for its maintenance and use it.
