Well, it is. At the national level and below, it’s mixed data. In Germany it seems to be the Greens that are surging more than anybody. In Britain, the LibDems dominated the recent local elections. Trend is unclear.
Thing is, nationalism doesn’t have any goodies to distribute. Socialism can at least live off of “free” stuff (paid for by someone else); nationalism is just more flag waving. Granted, nationalists also like handing out free stuff.
It’s been said that the spectre of fascism forever haunts America but always lands in Europe. Maybe President Biden will be taking out the Euro-trash in 2022.

SO, to say e.g. that “Le Pen wins in France” really means that her party will get 22 of 74 French seats. Her proposed EUP group will probably have them joining Salvini’s group, the fourth largest with 71 of 751 seats.
Meanwhile Macron’s group, with 21 seats, will probably join the Alde group with 108 seats.
That’s third. The Socialists with 150 & the Centre Right [Merkel etc] with 179 are the largest.
Just behind Le Pen’s group are the Greens, with 68 seats. [all figures tentative]
