Something really odd is going on: In Europe we are seeing surges at many places where most of the population has already been vaccinated. At the same time, the 15 least vaccinated countries don‘t seem to face any problem. (long twitter thread, follow it down)
Side note: From time to time there are complaints about using things here from twitter, youtube, facebook, etc. like I just did. Believe me I understand the argument, they are bad actors causing problems and as such should not be rewarded. Having said that if there’s good or useful information being shared on these platforms that can’t be found elsewhere ignoring it just makes us dumber. That’s the trade off. I don’t particularly like it either but I’d rather have the information.
As always, suggestions or tips on how to get around any of this are welcome. I’ve picked up a few in the comment sections since I started here and they are appreciated. As are spelling and grammar corrections.

If the vaccines are actually failing then would the best case scenario be for the vaccinated to catch a mild covid strain like delta that will require their body’s immune system to aquire broad spectrum natural immunity?
The worst case scenario would be that vaccine failure results in antibody dependent enhancement, ade. At that point a treatment with antivirals might be the only option left. Or frequent vaccinations against new variants, I suppose.
I’m more coming of the view that infectionis the best protection. Obviously not for the sick and vulnerable, but isn’t the traditional approach to p[rotect those and carry on with one’s life? And if Ivermectin or HCQ are effective treatments, use those.

I’m in agreement with those who believe that most of the Western Hemisphere were ALREADY IMMUNE well prior to 2020. So covid is seasonal, and the vaccine is useless. Just like the flu, which mysteriously disappeared this year.
I think it is worth looking at how much each country tests and how they record positive results. That could have an influence on what we are seeing and how it is framed.
Eg. Perhaps vaccines don’t work well AND Belarus under-reports cases WHILE the UK over-reports. It doesn’t mean that Belarus actually has a low case-count or that the UK should be shutting down.
There is a definite cohort of people in governments the world over who want to keep the lockdowns and controls in place, They can easily manipulate the data and public perceptions to their ends when criticism, even analysis, is verboten.

Of course corona viruses are seasonally epidemic. Most human respiratory system viruses are also; whether zoonotic or not, and influenza viruses and corona viruses are both potentially zoonotic. Key is that the epidemic seasons are not all winter, though. For some, the epidemic season in the tropics and subtropics is summer, not winter. Corona viruses are one of these. So, to the extent true prevalence has increased, we should be seeing increases in the southernmost US states, Mexico, Cuba, and etc.
Something to remember, PCR tests do not detect pathogens. They detect nucleic acid strings. Those are not unique, particularly so for short ones. Did the influenza virus disappear last year and into this year? I say no, it didn’t; it just wasn’t looked for as much as corona viruses and they are using PCR tests for influenza these days, too. Crucial information just wasn’t stated: 1. true prevalence, 2. false positive and false negative rates for the various tests and how cycle thresholds affect PCR tests; and, most of all, the horridly loose case definitions. Disease syndromes typically have multiple causative agents or conditions. Single diseases typically don’t.
I suspect the non-vaccine shots place the auto immune system in over drive and as a result make people are more apt to catch the bug-any bug. Wonder what it does to people with Lupus and MS? I’m due for a dental visit, I suspect I will be denied access because I refused the non-vaccine? My husband had his second shot today, I’m the only person in my retirement community who refused, you should see how they back up when I’m walking the dog-it’s down right funny. Wonder if a year from now people like me will be rounded up and forced to donate blood to those who got the non-vaccine?
